I've been attacked by animals that are known "beyond doubt" to be harmless. Also, it probably depends on how large and what species they are. But yeah, earwigs are almost always completely harmless. @KonanOfTheAkatsukix I have had one go in my ear before. It didn't crawl in, it actually flew in while we were playing football. It freaked me out. It was more of an accidental thing the bug did. Somebody else probably had this happen back in the past and thought they actually do this on a regular basis, and started spreading the rumors that they go in peoples ears. If you ever have the same experience, just put your ear facing towards bright light and the bug will crawl back out.

in germany we have earwigs a little bit bigger (a third bigger)) which have changed their appearance : the pincers are grown together and look like the tail of a scorpion to scare enemys. they look very scary (a lot more scary than the pseudoscorpion)
