  • I wish I would have watched this yesterday. I made fried chicken for dinner last night and once again it was a disaster. :-( I think my problem is the coating of eggs/buttermilk I use. It seems as if flour is all I need.

  • YOU AMERICANS GET EVERYTHING SO CHEAP, DAMN IT!!!!! In Australia, everything is 4 times the price

  • @bettyskitchen I came here for the Chicken recipe, I stayed for the lovely accent. :)

    (English me)

  • This looks like a great chicken recipe, I like your style!

  • I never want to try this at home becuse if i do i will make it everyday. Betty how do you stay so thin if you eat this!

  • Marry Me Betty <3

  • MAN IM HUNGRY

  • Thumbs up if your eating and watching this :D

  • I want to know how Mrs. Betty stays so thin! I'm half her age and jealous of that body

  • NICE KITCHEN CABINETS BETTY..

  • Could I use vegetable shortening instead of peanut oil?

  • @idunnoproductionzz Yes, vegetable shortening will be fine!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Yay, I just bought so much Crisco :)

  • @bettyskitchen How many cups of shortening should I use?

  • Wow Betty why do you shop at Kroger, did you look at what you are paying for that? Try some cheaper neighboring store, they are really ripping you off. much love and thanks for the recipe, you look great.

  • what's the benefit of adding butter with the oil in the pan?

  • @bfree2live I think the flavor is better, but you can't use all butter, because the smoking point is too low.

    --Betty :)

  • going to fry chicken tomorrow and doing research

  • think i'll use your video to help me make my own fried chicken.

    p.s. you're pretty.

  • Could I fry in shortening?

  • one question. Is salt the only thing you season the chicken with?

  • @claudio0127 I season chicken with salt at the beginning. Then I sprinkle black pepper over all of it when it is in the skillet frying.

    --Betty :)

  • now i can cook without going to KFC and buy the chicken :D

  • why did i expect to see a black woman?

  • My wife doesnt enjoy cooking but I love it. I just lack so much in simple know how. Your video was so easy to follow so I'm going to try hard to re creat this dish for my wife. She loves a home cooked meal but hates putting on pounds so with your less fat way of cooking I am thinking if I can acomplish this meal it's going to be a win win for me with maybe just a touch of praise from my wife at the end of it.

  • @bettyskitchen Well I made it half way. My Chicken Gravy, Wel I messed that up so didn't serve it but Thats where Colslaw steps up to the mark. The fried Chicken went down so well that I was lucky to get any lol. My wife sead that it tasted so lovely and fresh that she would not order take out for it again. She even ate the skin and that is something she never does even in KFC. Thanks very much Betty. I am going to keep eyes on your channel for more great cooking.

  • @bettyskitchen Ps I live in Ireland. My mother used to make this wonderful home made vegetable Soup but unfortunatly she passed away before I had the good sense to learn from her how to make it. This soup was so good that it was a complete meal in itself. It was something that was fantastic to have during the winter months. I would love to see anything on that you may offer up in an informative video if that wasn't to much trouble for you. Thanks Betty.

  • @sentantha Here is my all-time favorite Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup:

    I hope this helps!

    --Betty :)

  • I like this betty

  • I need a recipe for deep frying jiblets

  • Could I fry this in tallow?

  • @macfanleapord I have never fried anything in tallow, so I really cannot answer that question.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen I meant lard... Haha. I get the two confused all the time...

  • @macfanleapord Yes, you may fry chicken in lard--that actually tastes the best! I don't think it is as healthy as some oils, but the chicken is unbelievably good!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Oh Betty (: thanks

  • WOW, just browsing through learning new ways to cook chicken shes pretty attractive i dot know if its her accent that draws me in or the way she prepares the chicken ;)

  • I like her nice show

  • Betty, howcome you stay good looking and slim like that while eating such delicious and contains highly amount of calories dishes? I'm a bit jealous because of you :) By the way, i loooove chicken :) Love, Dilara from Turkiye.

  • @Thelosh Hi Dilara, I eat mostly healthy foods; if I eat anything with a lot of fat or sugar, I only take a very small portion. This has always worked for me.

    --Betty :)

  • So let me get this straight, you use a skillet with oil, coat the chicken in flour, fry it, then bake it in the skillet that's actually still frying, right?

    Maybe I'm not following.

  • brilliant video what a cool idea to mix frying with cooking in an oven

    many thanks

  • Hey Betty, Whats the idea behind baking the chicken? Speed up the process. How long do you frie the chicken until you put it in the oven? thanks, Cody

  • @MrSharkattacksd Hi Cody,

I fry the chicken in the oven, because it is so carefree. You just need to check it and turn it once. I find that when I fry it totally on the stove, there is sizzling and spattering to deal with until it's done. It is probably a little faster in the oven, certainly more evenly fried. I just get the chicken brown on one side and turn each piece before putting the skillet in the oven. It takes about 5 minutes.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen I like your style. thanks for the reply. Cody

  • damn the prices of those chicken are cheap

  • Your a doll Betty. Wish you would cook for me some day. Thanks,

  • can you be my mother? lol

    --Betty :)

  • Damn... She is a good looking woman, and that chicken looks awesome too :D

  • @papercanfly Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • To much work for fried chicken, just get a big ol pot, fill it with oil and fry it all at once.

  • @MrCapisce You can do that.

    --Betty :)

  • i did this and i had blood inside chicken :O :( what shall i do?

  • @nicholasoghlaw It just needs to cook longer.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty! I am an African American man whose family is from Mississippi. I always tell people that soul food is really southern cooking. Watching this video reminds me of my mother frying chicken. I do have a question: I don't recall you mentioning it in the video, but what's the benefit of the oven? Thanks!

  • @EboneeEyez I like to brown the chicken on the stove, but then it's far from done and needs to be tended for about 25 minutes. I avoid that by just sticking it in the oven to "fry," and letting it get done at the same time that it gets brown and crispy.

    --Bety :)

  • Hi Betty! I was wanting to make Fried Chicken tonight and believe or not you are the first one I came across and I used your recipe and loved it. This was the very first time I made fried chicken succesfully lol!!!!! So this is very exciting for and my family lol Thank you!

  • You should be clear that you mean Fahrenheit right?

  • @ajuk1 Yes, I always give the temperature in Fahrenheit. Thanks for the reminder--I usually try to write it up in the description.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Us Limeys understand pounds and ounces quite well but not so much Fahrenheit.

  • when they develope a drug where you can eat anyting you want without gaining weight, im gonna eat southern cuisine 24/7.

  • @lvll138inrs Yes, sometimes it gets pretty high in fat/sugar; you can make substitutions for a lot of things like cream cheese, mayo, sour cream...Not much you can do for fried chicken, except cut out all the excess fat, and drain it really well. Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • better lighting would be great! i love your videos by the way. im new to them but im already 5 videos i watched in a row lol

  • Hi Ms Betty, hope you are doing well:)

We made these here in the UAE during the month of Ramadan (Fasting) for Iftar time (that's when we break our fast), and it was loved by one and all at our home.

We made corn dogs for Iftar (we tasted them for the first time ever), and these for dinner, along with some french fries, and it was just lovely!

We love the way you explain all your recipes, and we love how soft-spoken you are! Keep up the good work!

    Best Wishes =)

  • Question for you Betty, I usually singularly roll my chicken pieces into flour and hand pat it. Would you recommend your way of placing the flour on the chicken, or will either way work the same exact way? Also, thank you so much for the videos.

  • @shizzyhick89 I think either way will be fine! Thanks for your comment! You are very welcome for the videos.

    --Betty :)

  • every time i try to fry it ends up looking soupy my grandma says because the oil inst hot enough is that right?

  • @DreamloverLambi1 That could be the problem. The oil needs to be very hot. The chicken should be sizzling, not just lying in the oil.

    --Betty :)

  • I just can't do it. i tried to fry some chicken but i'm full of oil burns.

  • @DeathmetalRK You might try a lower heat. Just cook it longer.

    --Betty :)

  • what good for frying chicken? veggetable oil or corn oil? cant afford canola/olive and those blend-mix olive is jus mix with cheap oil. if i get canola it must be pure.

for frying chicken what best? veggetable oil or corn oil?

  • @MrDelightfulPink Vegetable oil is fine. I usually use peanut oil.

    --Betty :)

  • Mmm, I'd like to eat that chicken. It looks absolutely delicious.

  • @Klebkatt Thanks, chicken is one of my specialties.

    --Betty :)

  • I never thought to add butter- what a great idea, I am sure it does help with a nice brown finish . My chicken always ends up burning - or, the breading sticks to the pan :( I have chicken marinating in buttermilk right now, so I am going to try the oven method as you suggest. Thanks, nice video- I learned something today.

  • @rhodapenmarktx I hope the chicken comes out great! Thanks for the lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I prefer to fry the chicken with more oil.., but still I liked ur end result..

Thanks a lot coz I live in a small village in France and we don't have KFC or any place sells fried chicken..

    Thanks again

  • @yami4ever I live in Kentucky, so this is what we consider as homestyle fried chicken. I hope you enjoy it!

    --Betty :)

  • Can you add Hot sauce when frying it?

  • @tysonnsbuddy I would add the hot sauce when coating the uncooked chicken; ground red pepper would probably be better.

    --Betty :)

  • @WhiteCasperZz This recipe is tasty! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Let me tell you, I made this and it was my very first time, and it was wonderful...the best ever....i used cooking olive oil to make it better...they have olive oil made just to fry.. i found it in my grocery store! Thank you so much! God Bless America!!

  • @Black0ps4Lif3 Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it! Thanks also for the cooking olive oil tip!

    --Betty :)

  • I love the Recipe and I will try it but can I used different oil rather than peanut oil?

    Thanks! God Bless

  • @maremoe21 Yes, you may use any oil that you like; it does not need to be peanut oil.

    --Betty :)

  • Shouldn't you marinate the chicken in buttermilk overnight? Thats what everyone tells me.

  • @DE4DLYY We've never done it that way where I grew up. It probably would be good, though!

    --Betty :)

  • I am definatly gonna be making dinner more often!! Thanks Betty! :)

  • @SuiCiDeDez You're welcome! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • @SuiCiDeDez That's great! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty!! I just wanted to know why do you put the chicken in the oven after you fry it. Is the chicken healthier if you do it that why as oppose to frying the chicken all the way through on top of the stove in the oil?

  • @thickness818 No. it's not healthier. I just want to be sure the chicken is done exactly the correct amount, and that is easier to judge in the oven than on the stove top.

    --Betty :)

  • I'm a fan now after lucking into your video on YouTube. Thanks so much- please kee posting tutorials!
