The description and comments by the poster and those that drank the koolaid with him display an obvious misunderstanding of the message. Actually, know, I know that they know better, but they will do whatever to paint Glenn Beck in a bad light. It's a similar mentality to creationists that lie for their Jesus.
@ edgehead - there will be those that abuse and cheat any system for anything thing, that doesn't mean they all do....also FYI our taxes used to pay UI & Public Aid is LESS than 1/2 of 1% of our US budget.
Who the fuck cares!!
You should really worry about the crooked defense depratment, that's like 38% of our budget. Remember we live a lifespan of 60-100 years if lucky, be happy and pray you and our family and friends are healthy,. this is stupid shit to worry about. God bless.
corporations are reporting record profits on after the other, and we're facing 10% unemployment (not even counting the under-employed and those who've given up looking), yet some people wanna blame the poor for our current economic problems? that's not grasping for straws, that's just a false reality. period.
Corporations are recording record profits? Please cite your source.
I don't blame the poor for our problems, nor do I blame people who've been laid off. I just have a problem with lazy people. BTW, if you can't find work, why not move to the San Joaquin Valley in California and pick the fruit? Sure, it doesn't pay much, but it's still a job, and it helps to keep illegal aliens unemployed.
@Edgehead10075 are you not aware that corporations are recording record profits? my source? ummm every newspaper in the nation. it's common knowledge.
now you're saying I should move and pick fruit? great idea. the reality is I don't have transportation or the money I would need to relocate.
one thing about being poor is that it becomes a vicious cycle. things that most people take for granted, like driving a car, become impossible. I can't afford car insurance. my options are limited.
How can they be recording record profits if the economy is in the toilet?
What I'm saying is that I don't buy that there's no work out there. There's always something, like picking fruit. Maybe YOU can't relocate, but others can.
In the US the stinking "poor" are better off than those that bust their ass to get by. The working class. The rich exploit us, the poor leech off us and yet WE built this country that was great through our team effort and hard work. Now they are taxing us to death and robbing us of our future. Today most conservatives and liberals suck. they are only in it for power and money. Stuff that into your breifcase.
@pigletized I'm amazed how many people on these boards whine about the poor leeching off everyone else. what do you people think the government does for the poor? they don't do shit. they haven't done anything for me. the only thing I've ever gotten from the government as a poor person is food stamps. twice. and the first time they told me I had to pay it ALL back in CASH because I wasn't working enough (even though I was a F/T student and P/T worker (20/wk)). they garnished my wages to get it.
@Edgehead10075 I'm not too keen on strangers telling me what choices I should make with my life. I graduated already tyvm. I'm now a poor person with a BA from a top university. somehow I did it without your patronizing advice even.
Congratulations for graduating. All I'm saying is that people who have the ability to work full time should. BTW, I wish you the best in getting out of poverty. I'm guessing that you can't be THAT poor if you have internet service.
it seems a little odd and ironic that the person who believes so strongly in "every man for himself" economics is asking poor people to suck it up and sacrifice for the good of the "team".
could this be the most hypocritical commentary ever unleashed upon our airwaves?
I just watched the rest of the clip, and I can now say that as a poor person I'm INSPIRED!
yes, that's right. my whole perspective has changed. I'm doing my part for the TEAM! my poverty is helping my team WIN! I just need to do my part, and clean the toilets in office buildings at night, so that we can maintain our OVERALL standard of living, as a TEAM!
now I shall take pride in my minimum wage menial labor, for I know it is in the best interest of the team. I'm taking one for the TEAM!!
Every adult American who's able-bodied and of sound mind should work. If that person isn't working or at least looking for a job and gets a welfare check or Food Stamps, then, yes, he IS a leech.
@Edgehead10075 your ignorance is beginning to disgust me now. every able-bodies american should work? wake up. the jobs aren't there. pop your bubble and step out into the world, because you obviously need the exposure to reality.
Wait a second now. I said "OR AT LEAST LOOKING FOR A JOB." I understand that not everybody can find work, but the attempt should be made if you want your welfare check.
@Edgehead10075 because you're obviously clueless and oblivious to what's happening in the world around you, I'll tell you who the leeches really are. the leeches are the ones that suck the taxpayers dry, yes. unfortunately for your view of reality, wall street bankers and corporate CEO's (who make millions) are the drain on taxpayers, not some poor and unemployed person getting food stamps. get a clue. your ignorance is pathetic, but not too rare these days. keep fighting the bad fight clown.
I'm poor. yes I have a color tv. one, that I bought used for $15 at a 2nd hand store. I have a dvd player that I also bought used at a 2nd hand store for $10. I have a stereo and a computer, both of which are almost 9 years old and are the most recent electronic products I've purchased (haven't had a good job since 2002). I can't afford cable, or internet at home. in fact I barely have a home, aside from the 2nd tv and the cable, I'm average. it shows how facts are skewed.
All Beck is saying is that the poor are quite well taken care of in America and that some of them honestly don't deserve the taxpayer dollars that they receive.
@Edgehead10075 beck is an idiot and depends on the ignorance of his viewers for his "success" as a hate-mongerer. my point is that the poor are NOT very well taken care oof here, especially when our national wealth is taken into account.
if you look at other developed nations, such as in europe, they do much more to take care of the poor. attitudes toward the poor are different in europe than they are here (if it's not obvious just by reading comment sections). I studied it in college......
Yes, attitudes towards the poor are different. In Europe, they don't believe in hard work like we in America do. The poor are well taken care of in America. In fact, talk radio host Michael Savage, who was once a social worker, said he was disgusted by the fact that the people he was in charge of were living better than he was.
in europe poverty is attributed generally to social phenomena, whereas in the states it's attributed to the individuals themselves. in other words, in europe the causes are seen as external while in the states they're seen as internal. there's a fundamental difference in attitudes toward poverty in this respect.
as I stated earlier, the government has done nothing for me as a poor person, so I can speak against your statements from experience. what tax dollars?
some of them honestly don't deserve the taxpayer dollars that they receive.
which ones? what tax dollars? how do you know? what are you talking about?
human rights applies to all humans. every american deserves a home. every american deserves to be fed. everyone in the WORLD deserves food and shelter. why? because they're fucking human beings.
This video was disturbing and haunting and triggered visceral emotions that can be best described as "looking into the heart of darkness". I suppose that was the point. Please keep up the great work.
@shaneknee Yes, that was the point. But I was also startled that the section starting @1:07 and lasting until about @1:50 gives me deep chills, almost like a highly stirring motivational speech. But twisted.
if you are poor in the US, you can get free housing, free food, free cash each month, and usually free healthcare for your children. if you are disabled you can get all this and social security. all paid for by me, the taxpayer. what more do you want from me?
@carlokrenzelak u are the only person i have heard of who is so shallow that they dont think disabled people should receive money to survive u are absolutely disgusting explain to me how else a disabled person could pay for basic needs of life
@54321nicolaskurtf i never said that. maybe you should re-read my comment. i listed the things available to poor and disabled people in our country, all paid for by me, the american taxpayer. i think a safety net for people is essential and we have to take care of disabled people. the purpose of my list was to show what is available, and the rheotrical question at the end of the comment was meant to elicit thought about the merits of the class conflict which is a common message in our politics.
Glenn Beck, I have never seen more shit spew from one mouth in my life. If you spent one day, ONE GODDAMN DAY, in the life of an average American in this economy, you wouldn't be spewing the same conservative bullshit, I guarantee you that.
Beck is a douche.
