  • "And this is amazing and wonderful, and good and great and grand, and fine." That does say it all. Congratulations on being one of the military men who both served our country and who, then, fought to have this unfair rule repealed.

Now, that Congress has repealed DADT, it will never be reinstated. This law is dead forever. For one thing, there is no way to get the two Republican women Senators from Maine to vote to put it back. That kills any attempt to do so right there.

  • @devildog3406 How disgusting it is for you to imply that discrimination against homosexuals is what makes our fighting force "successful and fierce." Shame on you! Our service members are so much more than you give them credit for. Your comment was absolutely disgraceful and appalling.

  • @devildog3406 Your statement shows your limited understanding of how DADT has affected people. I for example was discharged after nearly four and a half years, and there have been people discharged at close to 20 years. Do you know the rules? Have you ever gotten a blow job while you served in the military? If so then you are as guilty as any person kicked out under DADT because the military has a variety of rules which pointlessly intrude into people's personal lives.

  • @devildog3406 Interesting. Perhaps someone was cutting corners and being lazy. That's too bad.

  • @devildog3406 I believe that if there were additional circumstances to simply being gay they would be noted on the discharge paperwork.

  • It's great that this has changed and I hope that it does not for all those that chose to come out now, but speaking as a gay man born in London I don't understand why it has taken my American cousins so long to get this far. We have always have been considered by some people in this world to be set in the stone age so to speak still, but we seem to more the land of the free than you do in some respects, sorry to anyone that takes any offence to this comment it is not my intention but I just fee

  • Thats a good point you are macking, I did not hink of that, can anyone tell me if people are still being fired under DADT as it's still being dismantled?

  • Oh god, I know EXACTLY what you mean. Some of the schools I have been to have put things down on my paper work witch were BLATENT lies, and when they say they being "dificult" and "defensive" over particular detail. They a;so try to word things in the worst possible way. I was ene recorded, in "not being confdent" with a calculator, because sometime I like to work thigs out in my head, so they word it like, I am incapable of using a !#@*):< calculator.

  • did you suppress preying and crucifix and bibles and qurans from public places too?

If not, give a closer look at Eurodirectives, DADT or not you probably need them!

  • welcome to USA in the civilized countries free from religion based absurdities and laws! So we EU can stop looking at USA like an islamic of christian country!

  • @fagtube3 I find it silly that your idea of a comeback involves name calling. I wish you would present yourself in a manner that allows me to take you and your statements seriously. Calling me a dummy does not help to make your statement more credible.

  • @fagtube3 According to the Bible, all are sinners. By Biblical standards homosexuality is just another sin. The Bible is full of people who sin and still love God, and are loved by God. King David was a huge sinner, yet he was still loved by God. I would encourage you to stop reading your Bible so selectively. If you have eaten shellfish or worn clothing of mixed materials then you are guilty of "sin" to the same extent as homosexuals.

  • @fagtube3 LOL - you're such a biblical scholar sweetie - i never cease to be amazed by the breadth of your knowledge. pray do tell oh wise and magnificent one - what exactly does it mean for god to "ahtes fags?"

  • @fagfail If the god of the Bible was a man he would be spending a life sentence in jail for all the people he's killed just because they got on his nerves a little. God should be better than men, not more evil.

  • @fagfail Actually, this doesn't worry me. From what I know about the god of the Bible, there is no way I would want to spend eternity with him in the hell called "Heaven".

  • @fagfail Tis true.

  • I am proud to have been one of the 200,000 reservist who were given a survey about DADT. :-)

  • @Ruthlyn Thank you for your contribution.

  • it ain't over til Obama signs on the dotted line

  • @Ruthlyn True... Some setbacks have occurred since I posted this video.

  • Go Pride!!!!! Woot!! Woot!!!!

  • hm like I had just watched your old video first with the smooth babyface.. then saw what you look like now and wow.. the longer hair and burns and scruff is so effing awesome dude. you rock. ^_^ on another note I hope our leaders grow some balls and do the right thing, but politicians tend to be cowards in it mostly for themselves.

  • They will pin a medal on your chest for killing a man, but throw you out of the military for loving one? geez! It better not be reversed.

  • @tattooedboy04 In the time since I made this video they did get the new ruling put on hold.

  • It's actually not a thing of the past quite just yet. It's temporarily unenforcable! Whether or not it stays that way has a lot to do with what happens in the next few weeks. The Obama Administration has already appealed the decision and asked for a temporary stay so that DADT can remain on the books (even though he wants to eventually end it permenantly). I wish it was as easy as it seemed, but nothing is ever that easy!

  • @captainbryce1 True. I read a few hours ago that they finally did get the repeal put on hold. We'll have to see what happens with it now.

  • ALL those discharged dishonorably, should be upgraded to HONORABLY discharged ! Sadly back in the 90's my gay friends life declined badly after being discharged dishonorably, drugs, drinking, contracted AIDS, passed away a lost soldier. This shouldnt happen in the greatest country in the world, we should be better than that!

  • The government shouldnt float this trial balloon, they should just DO IT!

  • They certainly took their time ending that thing. If only Obama had had the balls to end it quick and clean, like he should have.

But we still have a long road in the military. We'll probably see plenty of leaders ignoring crimes against gay soldiers, passing them over during promotions, and so on.

  • I was hoping for a legislative repeal, or repeal by Presidential order after the release of the Pentagon review in December, but hey, at this point we'll take the good news wherever we can get it.

    Good job, America. Progress, FTW!

  • @PostSurgeOperative Iknow many are going to blame

Obama for the "appeal". But his reasoning is correct:

First, because the congress installed it he can't remove

it by "order" And many courts have intervenedm only to

be overturned. So all he's asking is time - for the

decision to be delayed while structure is worked out

& hopefully yje Senate follows yhe House and takes

it out of the Courts (Where this Bush Supreme Ct can

always restore it!). Stick w/the Prez - he will prevail!

  • @MrGBOOK P.S. See Obama's speech before the HRC

(It was 100% supportive of all our cause(s) & fantastic!)

Of you can't find it I've posted it asa Fav on my channel.

  • @MrGBOOK Agreed, 100%.

In fact, the legislative repeal would be the better result for a number of reasons, the least of which is because judicial decisions like this are almost always vilified as 'legislating from the bench.' As the Congress represents the voice and will of the People, and because the ban originated in the Congress, it makes better sense for them to repeal the law, so that this issue can be put to rest once and for all.

  • :-)

  • I definitely agree with having the discharge upgraded to honorable... I just don't think they'll move very quickly to do that because that means they would have to give so many LGBT soldiers benefits that they wouldn't being getting if the status of their discharge stayed the same.

I hope LT. Dan Choi is able to reenlist and that all other discharged soldiers are able to reenlist.

I don't have much time left in the military but I do hope to see this policy put to bed while I'm still in.

  • I absolutely agree with you about the Honorable discharge.

  • yes gurl yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IT HAS!?!?!?! What happened? first they couldn't talk about it on the floor and now it's gone!? exciting! i am so out of the loop
