LOVE IT! Carly Simon is always a fave, and I've always loved the song because the lyrics are so passionate and angst-filled :) I believe that Timi Yuro WAS the original artist... Both artists sing it beautifully.

Carly, you are just so wonderful, so strong and simple that those torch songs sound totally true. The voice is caressing, the soul is screaming, it is just impossible not to feel anything! I used to listen to Sinatra and Ella only when I entered Medicine school in 1981, and a girl in my class sang this song in your style. One day I decided to by this record, and I discovered such a singer, one that could make me cry and want to repeat the tracks. Thank you very much, Carly. You are great!!!

Carly released this album just before her marriage to James Taylor broke up so a few of these probably resonated with her personally.

@PopArt1009 Uhm no she didn't. When she recorded this album she and James were already seperated. Not divorced though, but they weren't living together anymore. Two years later she released Hello Big Man. On that album is a song called Orpheus on which she sang that when she wanted him back and refused to give up on them, he did. By then, they were divorced. But when she recored the Torch album, they weren't together anymore.
