@Courtneyissorandom - Yes that is correct, the update was completed and the attraction re-opened in early July 2006 to coincide with the release of the second "Pirates" film "Dead Man's Chest". I shot this video during the opening weekend.

Those A-100 audio-animatronics are beyond amazing. I thought that the Wicked Witch of the West in the Great Movie Ride was impressive, but the Jack Sparrow A-100s are something else.

@Toei2001 - Actually, no tripod was used. This was done with a hand-held Sony Hi-8 camcorder, one of the last models of it's kind. Then lightened slightly to bring out detail using Sony professional video editing software.

@lauzzababex - Happy you loved the attraction, but I think "soaked" would be a vast overstatement. I've only ever gotten a few drops of water splashed on me at the most, and I've been on this attraction countless times;-)

@thedragoonknight - I don't doubt that it happened to you, however this video was shot at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida, which has only one drop. I have ridden it countless times in every part of the boat and have never gotten more than a few small drops of water splashed on me.

@lindasing1 = Yes, as long as you don't use a flash or any other type of lighting it is permitted to film the entire ride. I did however cover the camera lens during the drop to prevent any possible water droplets from splashing on the lens.

the sets are lit much brighter than it was while I was working there. :-( since the sets are do dim, people keep taking flash pictures. (PLEASE NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE RIDE, FOLKS!!!) or else the people in your boat and all the pirates who work there will DESPISE you. :-)

@Sonic2lover There is only one Walt Disney World and it is in Florda. I think you are confusing it with the park in California which is named Disneyland. According to the Walt Disney World web site the drop is 14 feet.

@trymei - The drop is indeed on the video, it just takes place in the dark. If you listen very closely you can hear it in the video. I covered the camera lens with my hand to prevent any possible splash from getting on the lens. The drop is very minor and is only 14ft according to the Walt Disney World web site.
