This tune, most likely done in a more elaborate instrumental recording, was recently found on one of the 3 Berliner vinyl records recovered from the wreck of the "A.J, Goddard", a small Klondike Gold Rush era steamboat that sank in Lake Laberge, Yukon in 1901. Your rendition is absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing on YouTube!
@Luthval Thanks Val! Merry Christmas and best wishes for you too. The uke is one of my best and it's amazing how little I had to pay for it. Too bad Thomas stopped building Ukes.
Another beautiful arrangement, Wilfried. Is that title complete? I've never heard of this tune, but it sounds like it's missing a verb. I wonder whether there is a guitar arrangement of this somewhere.
@oldwhtman Thanks, Mike. Yes, I think the title is complete. It's the beginning of the lyrics too. I'm sure you'll be able to play it on guitar in no time, and there are free scores available too. As with most celtic music, everybody seems to play it slightly different...
@waterdog226 Thanks Lynda. The fretboard width is pretty much standard. However the scale is a bit shorter as usual. This might lead to this impression.
@wwelti Yes, I knew there was some sort of difference. You play these pieces so uniquely. They almost have an an 'oldness' sound to them. I have new hearing aids and they convey so much more depth. I can appreciate your playing even more!
@waterdog226 Ah, that's good... so you sure enjoy music even better now. For this piece I used campanella technique to get a more harp-like sound, and tried to make use of the "sound registers" of the ukulele.
Beautiful playing! Bitchin' sweater!

@oldwhtman Yup, that is the complete title, and the first line of the lyrics.

Lovely. The fret board on that ukulele seems wider than others. Is it, or is it an illusion?
