  • its just a shame that almost all of the major characters in the DCU like Barry Allen (2nd Flash), Jason Todd (2nd Robin) and Conner Kent (Superboy) have returned from the dead except for Ralph Dibny (Elongated Man) and Ted Kord (2nd Blue Beetle)

  • DC is the greatest every comic, this is amazing to watch for anyone who likes art or comics

  • 7:13 my favorite teen titans comic

  • I would have played The Times Are A-Changin' by Bob Dylan.

  • At 2:55, When I read this, i could hear Chriss Reeve shrieking, "NO-OH-OH-Oh-oh-oh.!!!!!"(Lois Lane death scene...)

  • Alex Ross, George Perez & the late-great Jack King Kirby are artistic legends!

  • Which story or issue was that Superman Red and Blue fighting each other? It was shown fighting with the Superman Earth 1 and Earth 2 fighting.

  • @selfish74

Adventures of Superman Vol. 1 #649 (actually, the last issue of the title).

  • tired of hearing this damn song

  • Can someone PLZ tell me where I can read free comics online?????

  • @Gabemac916 Download a program called CDisplay and you can dowload lots of comics to view on it.

  • the song first requiem for a dream pleaseXD ?

  • Does every fanboy play Requiem for a dream, its fucken annoying.

  • yeah i knew tgat dectective comics is the truth name and there are difrefents earths in dc

  • I like both companies but I gotta say I like DC a good deal more specially in recent years, with Marvel doing all these "relevant" stories like civil war which in my opinion have no place in Superhero Comics. but I have my Problems with DC as well, they do WAYYYYYYY to many shock deaths. though I have a large problem with comics in general since the late 80s Marvel and DC tend to be to dark and take themselves to seriously you know?

  • I fucking love DC and marvel

  • You should

    They're older than your Grand-pa

  • Nope.

  • lovin the Blackest Night series...but im sorry to say that Ghost Riders: Heavens On Fire is better...sry guys

  • loved seeing all the old Perez Crisis pages...

  • I love DC Universe

  • i grew up with both dc and marvel! at first i thought superman spiderman batman hulk were from the same

  • Great Vid. I love DC Comics !!!

  • DC has better art than marvel, hands down. I like them both for what they are but WOW, I'm blown away by so much on this vid. DC can be confusing as all get out, but it is worth trying to figure out because it's mind blowing

  • I like Marvel comics better then the DC comics. I never could get into DC comics. all tho I admit I did grow up watching the Superfriends and the only DC comic I enjoyed was Firestorm's comic. which came out around the time he was on the Superfriend's show during the end of it's run.

  • @Astraldragon1

Marvel has really great stories where the main titles are concerned, but the supporting characters are hardly ever developed. What makes DC cool is that they have so many heroes that are spread out through the DC universe. Marvel, the bulk of the heroes come from X-men. I'm not knocking marvel, I love Captain America and Daredevil and Moon Knight. I just prefer DC at the moment, though that will probably change when the dark reign series is over

  • You should read the Blackest Night reign. It's awesome! Best story this year. Although Cap America Reborn was awesome too but Blackest Night beats it to a punch.

  • @TheComickguy .....DC better art then marvel...depends on the book....Both have alot of good & not so good artstyles in their comics...but Marvel deffinantly has the better writers..I mean Marvel's events have been a heck of alot better then DC's...Personally the only DC books I like are the various Titans Series & brave & the bold...everything else from DC is just..meh..IMPO....but I think thats because they have more things holding them back then marvel.

  • This is a cool video, although I wish people would give "Lux Aeterna" a rest. It's so overused that I almost long for the days when Orff's "O! Fortuna" was everybody's epic background music of choice.

  • 1:42 teen titans!

  • I love those paintings of alex ross i once thought it was a movie poster for a JLa movie.

  • some narration, at least, might not have hurt...

  • epic vid..i'm not a comic expert, but i think DC definitely has the best super heroes..although marvel does have impressive villains

  • Wow a slideshow of some DC characters + Requiem for a dream theme music... How original! This is supposed to be "The History of DC Universe"? What a waste of time.

  • The problem with the DC Universe is trying to figure out who and what in the multiverse (universes with alternate Earths) is still around, who died, who lived, who is staying in Limbo because they have returns like Barry Allen(2nd Flash), Donna Troy (1st Wondergirl) and Jason Todd (2nd Robin)

They also re-create the multiverse many times like for Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, 52, Countdown and then Final Crisis (which was confusing still) GEEZ

  • This video should be retitled "Amateur hour: Featuring the Ken Burns effect, and the theme music from Requiem For A Dream thats used in every single student video from a high school film class!"

  • I dont get it, im not a fan of comics, but what the fuck is up with the "DC universe"? K first thing, i would like someone to explain me what the "DC universe" is, and second of all. 5:05 what the hell?! is that like an evil older verison of robin?! and 5:11 ...superman?! and especially 5:14 what the phuck?! someone plz explain this shit.

  • 1. "DC Universe" means all the stuff that happens in the world of the super hero's belonging to DC comics. For example, the Marvel Universe contains the X Men and Fantastic 4. The DC universe contains Superman, Batman, etc. Because DC and Marvel are both companies that legally own the rights to various characters, the two "universes" tend not to mix.

  • 2. at 5:05 I have no idea.

    3. at 5:11 - thats cyborg superman. Superman died, then 3 new "supermen" took his place. One was a guy who made a superman suit of steel that was powered and allowed him to fly and have super powers, the other was that cyborg superman, and the other was the Eradicator (dont remember their storylines though).

    3. At 5:14 - thats Super Girl man, come on. You should know that one.

  • Thats during the Batman: Hush storyline where Jason Todd comes back from the grave and haunts Batman

  • Yeah, but if you want to get technical, it isn't Jason Todd - it's Clayface pretending to be Jason Todd.

  • @TheUntouchable57 actually in the comic batman under the hood it is shown that the first half of the fight in hush was with a ressurected jason todd, when he ran off he switched with clay face.

  • @superbat45 - Thanks for letting me know. I might have to give that one a read.

  • DC Universe is all the characters belonging to DC comics incorporated. Superman, Batman, etc.

5:05 Jason Todd Second Robin killed by the Joker, recently come back to life VERY pissed off.

    5:11 Cyborg Superman.

5:14 Supergirl. Kara Zor el. Superman's cousin. Been around since 1958. They even did a (very bad) movie with her.

  • To me Marvel and DC are both creative and different and good in their own rights. Personally Batman is my favorite DC b/c he has no superpowers. And Spidey-Marvel b/c he faces so many problems.

  • Very cool, but this music is so overused...

  • that's your opinion

  • DC will always be better than Marvel

  • perfect

  • nice, what comic was 6:51 from ??

  • DC's been trying to clean up stuff since 1985. Get rid of all mirror universes, kill off 75% of characters (the obscure ones) and reduce character interaction, team-ups etc... Keep em separated and eliminate all continuity problems.

  • One of the main reasons I like DC is the shared universe(s) and history. If it takes a few Crises and Superboy punches every ten years to keep that unity together, so be it.

And some of the best stories have come from the "Obscure" characters. You'd kill off some great potential.

I am not a fan of everytihing at DC right now, but the radiclal "cleanup" that you suggest would not be worth it.

  • I'm almost positive this is Kronos Quartet performing this song.

  • I think dc has the best most powerful heroes...but marvel has some awesome villans

  • Very cool vid man!

  • mo matter how many times i see this ,I still get excited!!Dcs heroea are far superior and complex than any other heores in other media!

  • I agree 100%

Maybe Marvel has better stories now and then but character wise...DC kicks ass!

  • makes people realize that this is more than just "heroes" and "villains". Beautiful.

  • i took my sweet time to read the history of the DC universe from beginning to end. IT IS FUCKEN LONG AND COMPLICATED!!! XD but it makes me appreciate it so much more. So magical yet fictional its almost real

  • what is the chronological order of the stories?

    what should I read first?

  • well start with superheroes u want to know more about and move on from there. Dont throw yourself right into a crisis title. Read the origins and back stories first because otherwise u will be ultimatley confused.

  • The DC Universe is just the name for every single title that DC owns. And they come together for Crisis issues like

    Crisis on Infinite Earths

    Zero Hour

    Infinite Crisis

    52

    Countdown

    Final Crisis

This video is just a mash up of major stories in the DC Universe

  • what is the chronological order of the stories?

    what should I read first?

  • The Chronology is:

    Crisis on Infinite Earths(1985)

    Zero Hour(mid-1990's)

    Infinite Crisis (2005)

    52 (2006)

    Countdown (Last year)

Final Crisis (2008-Whenever they get the shipping schedules right!)

    All good stuff.

  • The music's from Requiem for a Dream. Great movie, great soundtrack.

  • ah...worlds lived worlds died and DC was ever good again until Supergirl returned. (and to a lesser extent yay barry allen!)

  • very cool.

  • Damn, for being a history, this sure aint chronological.

  • the music seems familiar.please the title please.video is GREAT!

  • This video is grand.

  • Wow so much has happened and now there is another crisis I wonder what's gonna happen next.

  • DC Comics: forever spitting on the histories of their characters and making Superman suck as they slowly turn hi back into the Supergod of the Silver Age.

  • somebody tellme who is azrael

    plz tellme

    its superhero? or villian?

    what is the origen?

  • Azrael as Jean-Paul Valley is a hero in the DC Comics universe

  • azrael is the one who had the mantell of the bat after bane left batman cripeld when batman got better he came back to reclaim the mantel of the bat but jean paul did not give it up so easily they had a fight and he became azrael overral he is a good guy

  • @apoca24

Azrael was a hero who took over for Batman when he was broken by Bane and was a part of Batman's family until he died

  • @apoca24

Azrael was one of the best characters in DC for his role of antihero (with a great history) and his fundamental role as Batman. When Bane broke Batman, he takes his place and that, allowed us a Batman who has no mercy with the murderers, that is based in "eye for eye, tooth for tooth". Really a magnific char. Thanks God, DC is now reviving him.

  • @apoca24 He toke on the role of Batman for a while after broke the real Batman's back.

  • @apoca24 belive he came out when bruce wayne had his back fractured by bane, so since he was out of comission he looked for a sub-batman who is azrael and when batman returned azrael did not want to give up the mantel of the bat so they have a fight over who will be batman, and if im way of im sorry jejeje cus' i haven't read the story you could look it up in the wikipedia extencion called DC database you can find any bio on any dc super hero and if you want marvel its marvel database hope helps

  • @apoca24 He was Batman for a time when Bruce Wayne had his back broken.

  • NICE WORK

  • loved it just one question what is the name of that song in the background?

  • Requiem For a Dream

  • cool, what's the name of the song?

  • That was put together quite nicely... hopefully you can make another one or update this one after DC's next crossover, FINAL CRISIS, is over.

  • You really should mention Alex Ross in the description or tags. He was the guy who REALLY proved that uber-realistic comic books could be drawn/painted and a great deal of your 'current' DC pics in here was done by him.

  • Really great work! Loved it!
