  • I don't even KNOW much about George Takei, and I've never even seen Star Trek, but his presence, his voice and the way he carries himself just makes me want to throw everything I've got in my hands away and do his bidding. ^_^

  • Takei actually seems to have the same type of voice they use to dub kung fu films with a western voice.

    "now you dieeeeeee"

  • did u ever see the show in the U.S. where they really "roast" the celebrities? He tells Shatner to f-off! Hilarious.......

  • Oh Takei. They never should have killed you off.

  • George is so hilarious. :)

  • @ LiferOn: How can you be so ignorant to believe somebody's sexuality defines their character? You need to take a good hard look at your morals, because they're the only "sick" thing here. How can you be so blind to follow such outdated religious teachings without even stopping to question the sense behind it all?

I'm sorry, but I find it impossible to comprehend letting somebody's sexuality precondition your opinion on them.

  • Oh, and it seems to me that this Mary K. Baxter woman is either a psychopath or a liar; quite possibly a combination of the two. She claims Jesus came to her and took her on a 40-night tour of heaven and hell? Yeah...okay then. Believe that if you will. But if you want something worthwhile to believe.. How about believing in human nature, and getting to know people... giving them a chance rather than judging them on something as shallow as their sexuality, gender or race?

  • That is a huge miss-step that American freedom is based on Christian values. Followers of Christ ruled Europe for over thousand years and they did not become America. American values are based on human worth and that is universal to any culture. That is why American justice system has been able to put away traditions of racism, gender bias and homophobia in few 100 years that have survived in Christianity for 1000s under the guise of being the word of God.

  • MichelSainteClaire: No it is not a miss step, it is a fact. The Constitution was written by mostly Christians and it was based on the Bible. You can not dismiss history just because our morals are different today. These so called followers of Christ you refer to were power hungry leaders who controlled people through fear and guilt. Education and racial equality are inherently Christian principles. You confuse feminism with gender based roles. I'd like to see a man pop out a baby!

  • MichelSainteClaire: "American values are based on human worth". Really? Not all the American Indians were peaceful. Extreme fundamental Muslims, are they peaceful? How about cannibals, the Nazi party? Good values comes from good religion. Christianity is the best example. Fundamental Christians don't send out suicide bombers. Christians are to love their enemies. I don't think these are common human themes. I encourage you to think for yourself and read the Bible to understand the other side.

  • Yes much of the population and the founding fathers of the colonies were Christian, Desist or humanist yet most of these people did not have evangelicals like perspective on life like you imply. The constitution and government they organized were intentionally secular and non-monarchist as a result of their knowledge and understanding of modern philosophies law and civics from Europe unrelated to Christianity and the Bible.

  • I was taught very differently in PUBLIC school. Obviously there has been a lot of rewriting of history going on, it's shameful. But they were not deist or humanist, no disrespect intended, but where did you get that load of crap from? They were Christian in faith or in deed or both, and certainly there were plenty that were politically motivated to appear Christian, but it was THE religion, and the accepted way to live. To believe that it was otherwise is a modernists fantasy.

  • Following was a reply to MichaelSaintClaire

  • I belive George could be a fantastic radio talker if he chooses, his voice is so deep and original you tend to pay attention when he speaks. I belive he could even lower it a few bars hehe...

  • Berthomir, Takei *does* do radio - he's been on the Howard Stern Show.

  • He was on the cartoon movie Mulan as an important character (can't remember his name off the top of my head), and i was like 'that's GOT to be George Takei!' he's a legend

  • george is on im a celebrity get me out of here, he's so funny! its a uk reality show.

  • george voice is so unique

  • Heroes, then RA3!:) Awesome guy :D Great voice.

  • Aw man, I could listen to George's voice all day. :D

  • Masi Oka should be sulu

  • george fucking rules

  • man george has a awesome voice

  • is it always like that?! that's crazy!

  • I KNOW! It's weird how so many japanese men have such deep voices... it sorta doesn't suit them, but it's still REALLY kool!

  • yeah he has this... echo thing.. it sounds like so like fake

but in a good way :P... wow i'm jealous

i' asian and some say my voice was deep but maybe it was just cause the puberty part. meh.

  • @brianpwnsjustin thats from years of deep throating in the bay area haha

  • Masi Oka is so adorable.

  • Haha, I never get tired of listening to George's voice xD

  • George's voice is not forced, people. That's how he speaks, really.

  • Love Masi (or is it Oka? which is his name anyways?) Love 'im, in a fan way, he's funny! I'm a big masi oka

  • Do you think his voice is forced?

  • 武井さんかっこええ~ great voice.

  • "kakkoii" is spelled (in romaji) with double "i"s, not "e"s. double e is pronounced "eh". gotta love the voice, though.

  • hahaha, I'm japanese. XD

We also use that expression. To be specific the kansaijin use it. Like "Kakkoeena~".^^

  • oh. i stand corrected. ive never heard that expression used before, but im not japanese, so i wouldnt know.

  • In Kansai-ben (the fun dialect with all those "ya"s ) "ii"s are often said as "ee", i.e. "eena" instead of "iina".

  • lol i just love george's voice.. xD he should do these movie trailers

  • He sounds like a gay WHITE guy, had no idea he was Asain/Japanese LONG LIVE HOWARD STERN!

  • George Takei should be on radio with that voice. :)

  • He is a frequent guest on Howard Stern. So, he is kind of on radio. Alot more than you think.

  • What movie was this?

  • it's not a movie, it's the tv show heroes. the interview refers to masi oka's role as hiro, george takei's son.

  • George Takei was born and raised in LA so its hardly a surprise that he can speak English, English being the language of America. Idiot.

  • LoL I was surprised he spoke Japanese.

  • EVERYONE GO NUTS!!

  • Let Masi do what he wants to do. Not every actor is an idiot. I mean, the man with the world's highest IQ is some farmer in Missouri that barely makes enough money to get by.

  • Because he's a graphic designer/computer scientist not an oncologist or engineer?

  • I always knew George Takei was too good looking to be straight. His shirtless sword fight scene in a TOS episode screamed "gay!".

  • George Tekei is getting married now that gay marriage is legal in California! Gay Pride!

  • =D Omg I know he's super famous for a lot more than this, but I knew as soon as I heard his voice: Takei was the old Ancestor in Mulan!! XD Wow, he sounds like that all the time...he is pure awesome in human form. And I LOVE Masi Oka, he is the cutest, smartest and coolest dude ever ^__^

  • george takei's cool! :D

  • 武井さん、声がすてき。He has a nice voice!

  • I want George Takei to record my outgoing voicemail message.

  • No wonder, Takei was born and raised in LA and Oka has lived in the States since we was 6 years old.

  • What country do you mean? Of course they are citizens of some country. Not everything revolves around the US, you know.

  • lol he is so cute

  • Masi is just amazing. and george is very funny.!!!!

  • "Nope, I'm not gonna be like my dad."

    "See what I mean??"

    Oh George Takei XD

  • この ビテオ ガ とても おもしろかった です!

  • eh! totally. hah. oka masi cho kawaii...nanka ano... teddy bear mitai! haha.

  • wow george takei has an awesome voice

  • They really make a great father son pair ^.^

  • George is so cool!

  • Hiro Nakamura is my favorite hero in heroes but Peter Petrelli's power is my favorite superpower.

  • MASI!!! I LOVE YOU!!

  • "Lala land..." funny. :)

  • OMG IVE JUST NOTICED... HE PLAYED IN STAR TREK lol... and his voice is great

  • george sounds like he is doing that voice on purpose.. its like hes making his voice that way for the camera

  • Man, what a voice. Plus Masi Oka sounds kinda different in real life.

  • lol yeah he does that on purpose i think.. his english is actually pretty good

  • MASII MASI OKAAA MASI OKAA KAWAAAIIII

and george's voice is weird.... in show its cooler xD

  • what a voice!!!

  • That was horribly inappropriate ... but but still rather humorous. nice. you got respect (Mr.)Tekei(san) he came out of the closet and he still get good rolls and coming out in Asian community is hard.

  • George Takei and James Earl Jones should do something together.

  • His voice is very cool.

  • George Takei's voice, so...unreal, lol

  • I know I agree with you

  • Masi Oka has a bachelor of science in mathematics & science, and translates all of the English lines to Japanese himself, for the show "Heroes". He's also fluent in Japanese, English & Spanish. Even if you didn't know those things, I don't know why one would think it's surprising that he or George "sounds intelligent"!

  • Sorry that came out wrong. I meant they're voices are extremely intelligent.. you know what I mean?

Whatever though, that came out wrong. Don't think I have something against asians cause I'm asian.

  • It's alright, was a good opportunity to bring up random facts about Masi :) But yea, George's voice does sound extremely different than in the show... maybe like, a boss, authority intelligent type of sounding? I dunno but it's odd.

  • George Takei!

    Masi Oka!

    *hearts*

  • George Takei has a very creepy voice.

  • his voice is so deep, but doesn't it sound forced? lol i've always wondered that, but he is truly amazing

  • Masi Oka has a great impression of George too. look around and you'll find it in an interview

  • george takei's voice is awesome... so low and mannish

  • Indeed george's voice is fuckin awesome..kinda funny he's gay..lol

  • George Hasato Takei has the most incredible radio voice ever

  • that is the voice of a man... deep and mysterious...

  • Love George Takei, but I disagree about the NBC translator. That Japanese dialogue is the PITS.

  • masi oka does all the translations himself.

  • He does an atrocious job. The fact that he's been away from Japan since early childhood shows in his dialogue. There should be a REAL NATIVE proofreader. PS - the Takezo Kensei storyline is PREPOSTEROUS. If he had been a gaijin, that would be the PRIMARY element of the legend. J-culture is hyper-conscious of such differences.

  • Its a show that defies borders, so while it's weird the show is not meant to be a historical representation of Japan or focusing on its homogenousness of Japan. Also J culture is concious of foreigners but at the same time is ironically very good at absorbing foreign culture as its own when it does it right. This includes many things.

The dialogue is not fantastic in Japanese but passable. We gotta remember that ultimately the only people who won't "get it" are native Japanese speakers,

  • HAHA What a voice GEORGE TAKEI! WHAT A VOICE!

  • George voice is awesome ;D
