I think my great-grandmother saw this, Blackpool central pier in 1928.

The support acts were Leslie Sarony singing 'Hot Water and Vegetabuel' and Hetty King doing humorous impersonations of sailors. F&M however brought the house down but due to the 'penis' incident were thrown off the end of the pier. The tide was out so they landed in 10ft of mud. There's still a tribute band today also called Frisky and Mannish, such is the popularity of the original F&M who played well into their 90's
