THANK YOU! THANK YOU THANK YOU! Some of my best childhood memories were made here! Can you tell me if there is that video of the shadow man playing the trumpet ( think maybe it was Herb Alpert)? I am desperately trying to find it. It was my favorite scoreboard clip from the 70's.

This brings back great memories. If you ever come across a Houston Astro song they had please post it. All I remember is that it started as "We're the Houston Astros".

I only went to 1 astros game in the astrodome when i was very little, before they moved to minute maid park. Too bad i can't remember the dome.

But I do remember they shot fireworks off after every stros homerun but thats about it.

What sucks is as a little boy I went to the dome many times for oilers and astros games but I dont remember a thing. I was too little to remember anything about it but I just remember going to games there.

man...it sucks being born in 1992...i never got to experience this legendary scoreboard...i never got to see Nolan Ryan hit 100, i never got to see Billy Hatchers bomb in the NLCS...i never got to see Jose Cruz, Glenn Davis, Craig Reynolds, Mike Scott, JR Richard, Don Wilson, Dickie Thon, Terry Puhl...but at least i got to go to the Dome in its later years and watch Caminiti, Biggio, and my favorite ball player EVER: Jeff Bagwell...GO ASTROS!!!!

We would travel from San Antonio from 67 to 74 EVERY YEAR ,Stay at the RoadRunner Inn on Kirby(?) and walk to the game then attend AstroWorld when it was open before or after exciting Astro game,Win or Lose .Wow.

I miss the Astrodome so much. I grew up in Louisiana, right across the state line but we were all Astros fans and it was so much fun going to games every summer after school let out.

So many awesome memories. We had season tickets back in the day to both the Astros and Oilers.

The man at the end of this video doing the dance with the rake is my dad Paul Keith. It was also his clapping hands you would see on the big board at different games to get the crowd cheering and clapping. I think he probably was in that other sequence with the 3 ball players as well.....The man who animated most of what was on the big screen was a close friend of my dads' Ed Henderson. I wish I could visit the Astrodome when the Astros were there.

Did the Astrodome remove the lights from 3:48-4:21 before the Astros left?

If I remember correctly, renovation happened in the 80's in the Astrodome but I don't know if it was removed.

The scoreboard was brought down in Sept '88 to make room for more seats for the Oilers. The Dome was never same after that. All the animations that you see here are from Astro lite, which you see during the home run sequence, a cartoon board in dead center.

They were still using that parody of the New York Mets at the Dome during my only trip there in 1991. I'd love to see the skits they had for all the visiting teams.

Where did you find the videos for the old rally hexes?!? Ah it brings back fond memories of the 80's. Chester Charge, Home Run Spectacular, the animated pics of the players, "TILT" for opposing team homers.
