England must be the only country in the world without it's own government. A close Irish friend of mine told me he's amazed the English don't stand up for ourselves, most are oppressed.
@repmytown Hm, Scotlands EEZ is quite a bit larger than Englands and we have 33% of the BG landmass, + we send billions of pounds to the UK treasury each year. We need handouts? our 5 Million people need handouts???? BLLA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!
@Conneisseur2 also the u.k. should be abolished as a ''country'', when you see a map of the british isles most of the time you dont see england, etc. you see the united kingdom with no reference to the 4 nations within it.
How are the Scots over represented in the House of Commons you dickhead...? If you want an all English Parliament then vote SNP into power. You lot run the power and money, what else can you possibly want???
the so called UK parliament has been treated as the english parliament for time immorial - how quickly those forget that in the early 80s only the south east actually mattered and to hell with the rest of the country, an element of payback? well i wouldnt like that - scrap the colloqial parliaments and get back to one UK parliament that deals with the UK NOT jsut the SE of england - rule britannia
Yes, 1000 years of political, legal and ethnical wars and arguments between England and Cornwall.. That's how long this battle has been going on and it has never stopped. That gives us a huge standing. This is nothing new.
By the way, how old do you think Englands political outlook is?
Cornwall is as much a part of england as london or sheffield or southampton. Genetically you are indistinguishable, and culturally you are 99% the same. Please don't make any statements to the contrary or you'll look like a nationalist loon.
It shows that you are using your opinions as 'fact' here!
What makes you think you're right on any of what you just said when the facts supporting the Cornish situation are plentifull and set in stone? These aren't just ramblings of a small group of people. Devolution is supported by the majority (55% - MORI 2003).
Cornwall is as much a part of England as Dubai or Pakistan. Please don't make statements to the contrary or you'll look highly uneducated on the subject. An opinion monger.
'Cornwall is as much a part of England as Dubai or Pakistan. Please don't make statements to the contrary or you'll look highly uneducated on the subject. An opinion monger.'
I'm sorry, when was Cornwall last a country? I believe it was over a thousand years ago, correct?
Has it had a king other than the king of england since then? Parliament? Natinoal boundary? ANYTHING that would make it a seperate or distinct country? What did you just say...did you mumble 'no'?
From everything you've said it's quite evident that you know nothing about the political and legal history of Cornwall. The fact is that due to the 1508 Charter of Pardon Cornwall is it's own nation and is illegally governed as a part of England. However, the modern fight is one of economic matters.
Cornwall is one of the poorest regions of Europe but yet we have enough tin, copper and kaolin in our mines to be competing in a world market as we once did (British taxes have seen to the end of that) and we also have tourism on top of that these days.
Our centralised government does nothing to help the situation in Cornwall and seeing as we have a right to veto with our own parliament we should be allowed to do it without having to fight various court battles (as has been done for the last 4 decades). We need decentralisation so that we can support our people and our economy.
Our monarch is not the Queen. It's Prince Charles. When someone dies intestate (In the UK) and has no next of kin then their property legally belongs to the queen.
If someone dies intestate in Cornwall then the Queen doesn't get a say. It belongs to Charles.
I suggest reading the Cornish foreshore case and the Charter of pardon 1508 before continuing showing yourself up with drastic lack of knowledge. You've come here armed with nothing but opinions and no regard for the fact that you'd be challenged by people who have researched this matter for years and know it inside out.
There are absolutely zero documents pertaining to anything that would suggest that Cornwall was a part of England. However there's a plethora of information, legal documents and standing laws that confirm Cornwall as a separate nation.
Cornish language, pastys, history, ethnicity, and culture are just a few of the things that make us vastly different to the English. When you come down next time please note the distinct lack of St. Georges flags in Cornwall and take note of the sheer amount of cornish flags on people cars, in their windows and hanging from every building in town centres.
@fletch2002 i would kind of agree but take it further, each town, each brough has it's own parliament. This way everyone feels like they have a say, a sense of responsibility for their local area
or shrink it down to every ESTATE
or as much as possible
the more you shrink it, the more you concentrate and cultivate a sense of responsibility, human nature u c.
Fletch is a boring Anglo-Norman troll from Hampshire who thinks he is a "Celt", because he associates it with Marxism. The rest of England aren't going to pay so pathetic self-loathing worms like you can have a "county parliament". Fuck off.

Its simply because you now are feeling very threatened at the thought of not have we Scots and Welsh about to hold your hands when the big bad people come to belt ten bells out of you.
Stand up and go for it,you just may be pleasantly surprised how good it feels. Westminster is corrupt and as stale as piss. The pollies there dont support the people. They just have their nose in the trough for their expenses and more.
we want to go our own way but were being stopped... just because we want an English assembly or paliament it doesn't mean we want the UK broken up.. just equality
In scotland we had a governmemt that we neither wanted or liked for years i.e. Thatchers and Majors. Today Scotland has the absolute best deal possible...a Scotland run by Scots, and an England run by Scots. In addition the Barnett formula gives us a cracking financial deal. If that annoys enyone deal with it.
What about making Black English people in charge of Parliament. It seems the English like them so much. It is hypocracy not to let them call the shot's. Yes I would not call England part of Europe, as Gary insist's. The English are too inviting to Black's and that clash's with old European Culture. England can have em! Reggea is OK but not so cool that I want to destroy the European Race. Gary sounds like he may make a good politician.
Gary, I agree. The current UK parliament is unfair - to the Scots. Why should english voters (80% of the UK) decide whether our Scottish boys go to war.
A small injection of fact - the government decides to go war entirely under the authority of the Royal Prerogative. The UK Parliament has no authority over any declaration of war they do not even need to be consulted.
David, You are correct but missing the point. England decides who is in government at Westminster and the Scots have accepted this inequality since the Act Of Union. Things are changing, maybe because the British Empire has gone. Perhaps we would have a better relationship if we now went our separate ways.
wrongo!! Labour have never received a majority in England, the only reason Labour are in power is because they won in Scotland and Wales. The government Scotland and Wales voted fot took them to war not the English
Wiggy, my god, you're right! This definately is an injustice. But wait a minute, there was no choice because the UK (English) parties excl LD wanted war, their opinion driven by middle England. Also in every election since Mrs T ie.79,83,87,92,97,2001 the result in England determined the overall UK majority. Now it comes to 2005 and there is a small majority for the Tories in England and the immediate reaction is that we can't have those other chaps telling us what to do.
Ian, I do agree with you to some extent and Gary Bushell's language grates with me. However, it cannot be right that Scottish MPs prop up the government in England on what are devolved powers in Scotland. War is a special case that should always be decided by the the whole of the UK.
I totally agree with you, scottish MPs should not be voting on exclusively English matters. Question: Why is Gary and others so keen on an English Parliament, while still wanting the UK to continue? They clearly dont give a monkeys for us so why not demand an English state?
yeah i hope it happens, might not be PC for those who have a pro-celtic, anti-saxon bias, but it would be justice and that's what britain should be about.
