The White Hand was confirmed to be a boss that was originally intended to be added into the game's script. It would appear as a boss in the Pokemon Tower. However, the creepy part was, that the hand's battle animation would cut off during one of his attacks ( "Brute ) By Slowing that footage down, people saw images of people screaming... it is thought that a programmer intentionally added them. Not only that, but also, the sprite of a Buried alive man... it was also intended as a boss o.O

I take it that it's alluding to the stereotypical white hands in Japanese folklore. Most kwaidan/kaidan (scary story equivalent) mention white hands (of the departed) clinging to something or someone. (If this is obvious to you, ignore it).

In other words, Nintendo was just simply inject some of the Japanese folklore into games for America, no biggie. :)

white hand is reffering to the white hand sprite in the tower, it is a glitch pokemon like missingno. and can appear its moves are fist and brutal. it was origanaly going to be the marrowak ghost but was to f*cking scary so they changed it but it can be encountered by glitching your game. but the burried alive does no-longer exiced, it was going to be the boss for the tower and the ending of the game, and a screen would pop up saying GAME OVER and then the save menu. again BA is NOT exiced.

It's not a proof of existence of white hand sprite, which is almost certainly fake (come on, .gif .wav and .swf files couldn't be played on GameBoy, .swf didn't even exist when GB first came out). It's probably where the author of the story got his inspiration
