Why do people over bid on ebay? Why are the prices so high?

I was about to buy some Astro A40's; bidding was at $108. The sell included all the nice extras you can buy from Astro. Just in a couple of hours the bid went up to $170, WTF -_-.

There's this audio interface that sells for 270 bucks retail on ebay, and some bastur* brought up the price to 200. The point of ebay is to get ridiculous discounts. Comeon man, why? I really needed that piece of equipment, and you took that opportunity away from me. I saved up 150 for that. Not fair man, not fair.

Oh my gosh I totally agree, why do people push the prices up? Like I was watching an item that started at 99p($1.55)and within like 12 hours it had gone upto £16.50 ($25.77)and there was just 2 bids! Why push a good, cheap price up when you could keep it cheap and get a good deal?! It makes no sense! And yeah, why are some eBay prices more expensive than shop prices? eBay is suppose to be a place to get an item cheap, it makes no sense! Especially if an item is classed as used!

I think what it is, is that people now use ebay to make a profit now. When people started using ebay after standing inline for an hot electronic item such as an game or something, or tickets, and they take it and over price it to gain profit of it. Now people look around their house to do the same thing. EA.Skate3 is out, and EA.Skate1 is 60 dollars on ebay??? cuz its unopen? when its like, 49.99 at walmart. smh!

I started using ebay when i found an item on there that i've been looking for for years, and the seller was a well known seller. Usually when I'm looking for anything over the internet, ebay comes up and I never paid them no mind because my mom always told me, that they would send me a box of rocks. But video games on there usually ran from 6.99-9.99 for originals, like after sequals came out, i get on there today and prices are higher than whats in the store? for something thats old? lol

I know Amazon.com is not a auction site but I love buying items from that place. You can get some real good deals and amazon stands behind what they sell. I also like the fact you can read real customer reviews.

@fatsachs .. yes i agree and like i said , shill bidding is against the law in many states and  for sure it is against the general rules on Ebay ! ..all in theory of course.. but as i said it is just a way for Ebay to make more money ..now about the famous 'paypal protection' , another laugh.. paypal recently does not refund your money anymore, they started to invent excuses and to lie in order to do not refund your money , this is happened to me recently and to other people that i know..

..these aren`t always buyers , sellers with two or more accounts use to bid on their own products to increase the price !! .. 85%of sellers in ebay does shilling bidding in ebay, it is a shame, shilling bidding is not allowed but ebay doesn`t do anything, because in this way they take more fees from the sellers..

It's ad really cause morons are their own worst enemies because they bumble through life being stupid and costing themselves and everyone else in their path time and money. Did you know something like 80% of sellers bid on their own items to raise the price? It's called shill bidding and it's illegal but Ebay loves it cause they make more money.

People create 2 accounts and use one to bib on their own items posing as a buyer. they'll outbid a real bidder by one bid or whatever to keep the items price going up. It's immoral and down right slime ballish and that's why I quit ebay for good. Nobody's gonna make a damn fool out of me on there ever again. Definitely something to think about ya know? If you can get it cheap there by all means get it but not so much anymore.

I buy from there all the time though, I realize they're still making money off me that way but WTF, who's not getting rich off of ya nowadays huh?
