wait a min..117 of 200 ford and gm owners picked the spirit and acclaim over honda...thats not good,,,that means 83 of the ford and gm owners switched to honda....
Got a 95 acclaim here with the v6, bought it off a granny for $2,000, had 20k miles on it, best buy ever. Nice and roomy and I can smoke 'stangs with that 3 liter v6 >:D
My fd had 1990 Dodge Spirit ES with a Mitsushi V6 while we were in high school. Back then, I was quite impress with spacious room and sound system, if I remember correctly, it was a JBL. It even had a digital gauge reminding u "distance to go" in the given level of fuel which I found to be quite useful back then. However, even with the 3.0 V6, though it feels quite strong when you step on the accelerator, it was not as quick as 1990 Integra LS (auto) which my other fd had. Still a great car!
My '91 Spirit has over 300,000 miles on it, just bought a '95 Acclaim. I worked at a Toyota dealership, in PARTS none the less, and from what I seen, you couldn't give me a Toyota. Hey Prius owners, yes you save a dollar on gas, but did they tell you a headlight bulb is dealer only and $400.
i worked in parts also.Toyota like other imports are great until something breaks. I remember driving to the toyota dealership numerous times for parts that nobody carried. O2 sensor gaskets???? those basterds almost costs 80 bucks. In the imports defense I remember the first four years of the dodge neon everything was a dealer item!!!
Good point. Acclaim/Spirit were obviously designed to appeal to more traditional American tastes with their conservative styling and bench seats with column shift. Pretty much all American cars these days are bucket seats and console shifter. I don't like this setup as much. Not as comfy or practical.
HAHAHA.....This is great. I can't beleive anyone would have chosen the Spirit or Acclaim over an Accord. My first car was a 1993 Dodge Spirit, it was given to me by my grandfather. I must say it was a bad ass car, not the coolest car to have at 16 but it ran beautifully and I never had any problems with it. I sold it for $800 a few years ago, I now own a Honda Accord....way better.
HAHA Fiat stylish?? haha! roflmao! Chrysler has some of the best designs ever, look at the 300, Charger, challlenger, pacifica, voyager/caravan. Than let's look at Fiat: hmm, 500? any more? Punto? haha. no. some Alfas maybe, people saying eurpean or LOL Japanese styling/design is better than Chrysler have never seen either anything else than Chrysler or nothing else than Euro-trash or Jap-crap. I hate people who makes such comments without backing em' up!
I love it when Americans call cars "Euro-trash" and "Jap-crap" when both are more highly regarded than anything coming out of the US. PS, I'm American. It's just small minded thinking. But yes, I got Fiat and Alfa confused. I read they were bringing Alfa to the US again soon. I love the styling of those. Fiat...eh.
Well, I love how americans allways think foreign products are best, you should now that in my country American cars are highly regarded, and big american cars are often called "dollar-glis" here (dollar grin). Many people in my country dreams of owning an american car, and american cars are regarded as being luxourious and are very popular. We had lots of Fiats in the old days and we know the knew ones aren't good either. I allways wonder why Americans never find their own cars to be attractive.
Oh and btw, I'm Norwegian, not american. I would also like to point out I like some few Japanese cars and also German cars, but I have since I was a little child allways liked American cars best. And to some people's surprise it was the Chevy Caprice, Olds Delta 88, Mercury Montego bodystyles that got me really into american cars, very much influensed by the Driver games and TV. I just loved how good those cars looked, and I really liked when they were handbreaking and being trown around turns;)
I didn't say I don't like American cars. I've owned several and most were quite good in terms of reliability and build quality. Better than Toyota I had, as I said below. The American cars you mentioned are long gone in American culture now. Interestingly enough, American brands are making there cars look and drive more and more like Euro cars. That's because, like I said, Euro cars are higher regarded in the US.
Yes those are really cool, tough I have only seen one Crown Vic in real life. They are truely some of the last big V8 cars left in the world, and there probably wont ever be anything like them again... Lincoln TCs and Mercury Marauders are nice too.
Mmm, not sure about that one. I've never been much of a fan of Toyota. I had an '88 Camry many years ago. Terrible car in every way. I've owned a few Chrysler products. 2 of the 3 were great. Definitely much better than my Camry. These days I don't like the Chrysler/Dodge lineup at all. Terrible interiors, homely box on wheels styling. Better reliability and quality with Hyundai/Kia than Chrysler these days.
Not a bad comment since you had two Chrysler's better than a Toyota you had but just to let now that Chrysler is under an alliance with Fiat it could improve some of Chrysler's troubles and for all the troubles that Chrysler has gone through blame Daimler for it.
Well, as much as I loved the few Chryslers I've owned, they were all boxy late 80's/early 90's models. Then Chrysler started coming out with all there sexy cab-foward cars in the early to mid '90's and quality went way down. It just got worse with the Daimler merger. Styling went a sour way and quality didn't get any better.
