Well atleast there leaving the big 12 now because I think next season is gonna be the one for nebraska they get more wins every year pelini has been coaching there and they have the talent to stomp pretty much everyone in the big ten besides ohio state so.........HOOK"EM
2:30 wtf everybody was fooled then he's just gone lol
and to the people saying they need to work on the passing game.. we have an outstanding passing game, but we have the #1 running game in the country. why fix what isn't broken? keep running baby all the way to the BCS Championship!
and calling him a eric crouch "wannabee" how is that an insult? Eric Crouch was a Heisman winner and one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time. The NFL screwed him over by making him switch positions. Denard is fast but so is Martinez, Martinez looks to have that rare extra gear, I don't think Denard is faster than him. Yeah Martinez has to work on his passing, but so did Denard in order to become the starter, Denard threw 4 interceptions in 30 attempts last year.
@dwid1984 I might argue that Martinez has a faster first two steps, but there is not a chance in hell he is flat out faster than Denard, who runs a legit 4.32 40 and is a 100m dash champion (he ran the second fastest 100 at 10.44 in the country for a HS'er).
@jbailey41 Denard is listed as running a 4.53 at the nike combine, when did he run this 4.32? Martinez ran a 4.45. The whole 4.3 thing is overblown, rarely do kids run it before college. Take a guess at how many ran a 4.3 this year at the nike combines, all 15 of them, each having close to a 1k? TWO. 4.45 is top 10 for fastest this year
@jbailey41 and btw, running track means Denard has better form and technique for running the 40 which is the main thing that improves a kids 40 time in college besides a better training regimen, he already has good technique. I don't think its safe to say either is faster than the other on the field, they both outrun fast defensive backs that have good angles
scout has him listed as 4.4 but even their times are faster than what kids actually run. Im not going to believe some fake time his school has listed. The Nike combine is as closest to an accurate time we have. I am sure he can get it down to 4.4. 100 meter dash doesn't always equate to 4.3 40. Jake Sharp ran a 10.4 in high school and ran a 4.5, he did work on it in school and got it down to 4.3
what dont you understand about the fact that Shoelace has an entire year of experience over Martinez? RichRod is supposed to be a spread guru, Nebraska just implented the spread option/pistol offense full time this offseason. Tate Forcier came in and completed 100 percent of passes and avg 7.5 ypc, its a system. Denard played last year in the spread and has experience, and wasn't exactly a good passer. Martinez is just miles ahead of him compared to where Denard was last year.
Denard wasn't the starter last year, what does that say about him? Martinez beat out the highly touted 4 star recruit Cody Green who is a sophomore. Denard had like 100 plays though last year. And look what Tate Forcier did agains the same team
@fitzie20 there is a big difference from practicing spread stuff part time to doing it full time in practice, which they were not doing last year. and even a bigger difference than running it in an actual game. It takes alot of practice to get your reads and blocking down. I agree they are both great players, but you can't say Denard doesn't have a head start. He did play last year in an offense that used it full time and his coach is supposed to be a spread guru.
@dwid1984 Denard Robinson beat out the highly-touted 4 star INCUMBENT STARTER Tate Forcier after a year and then went on to finish sixth in Heisman voting. He broke the Division I FBS single-season quarterback rushing record of 1,494 yards previously held by Beau Morgan of Air Force. He also became the first person in NCAA history to record 1,500 yards rushing and passing in the same season. That's what it says about him.
@jbailey41 RichRod is also a spread guru known for offenses having quarterbacks that put up ridiculous numbers like Pat White, Bo Pelini is more of a pro style guy and switched over to the zone read stuff last year. There were some new wrinkles added to the spread option that defenses were struggling to figure out, Michigan along with Oregon and Auburn used these. Notice how Cam Newton wasn't able to have a field day on Oregon, because their coordinator knew how to stop it
I don't have a doubt that if Martinez had been in the same situation as Denard, that he would put up video game type stats. Denard was in the offense in 09, he got snaps in the games. He didn't beat out Tate his first year. Both Denard and Tate were 4 star recruits. Both were true fresh in 09, Tate started and didn't do bad for a first year starter. 58 percent of passes 13 tds to 10 int. Denard completed 45 percent. Tate is playing at where, South Dakota now? so what does that say
now Martinez did get a redshirt year, but they weren't running anything resembling the offense they had in 2010 so it was totally new to him. They ran the zone read out of the pistol mainly
"Like I said before Denard Robinson aka "Shoelace" don't have NOTHING on Taylor Martinez or should I say, "T-Magic"
Wow what an idiot, Robinson had more passing yards on fewer attempts, and more rushing yards on fewer attempts, and is also the leader in rushing and total yards.
@nothatso look at who denard played this week, umass while Martinez played a pac 10 conference, and Denard still averaged less per carry against Massachusetts with 6.8 compared to Martinez who averaged 7.2 this week. And im not quite sure why you are comparing an fcs d-1aa opponent to a bcs d1 fbs school. The two other teams Martinez played weren't bcs but still division 1, higher than Mass who Denard played, and he shredded those teams.
and you forgetting, Denard was in RichRod's system all last year playing. Nebraska just started doing this spread option stuff and this is Martinez's first time playing in real games. Denard has shown a little more passing ability but he has had more chances to develop those skills, when he played last year he looked pretty average. Martinez in his first year playing looks amazing. He is the only player in college football right now to have 5 rushes of over 40 yards, and were only 3 games in
wait, Denard averaged 6.1 yards per carry against Mass this week and Martinez averaged 7.2 against Washington with 3 rushing tds and 1 passing td. Martinez only had 2 more rushing attempts than Denard this week
and overall, Taylor Martinez is still averaging more per pass attempt than Denard with 9.12 compared to Denard's 8.83. So based on where they are at in the respective careers, Martinez is miles ahead of Denard, even though Denard is a great player
@myvizsladog1 They are "Corn Fed" CHILDREN OF THE CORN!!! Makes 'em FAST!!! We're looking forward to puttin' some Whoop$%* on Texas!!!! We'll see you in the Big Ten next year!!!!
@ejacobsen777 Ok, ah, they play for Nebraska and they live in Nebraska right now. So, that's why I said that. I know they are from Texas, California etc. I was trying to be funny---loosen up, ok!

it will definitely be fun to see them go against each other when Nebraska goes to the big 10, that is if they are scheduled against each other.
