I like how for filler the media tries to find pictures of the "scariest looking guns" they can find. We're talking about CCW here. There's no reason to flash pictures of Desert Eagles, Ar-15's and AK-47's. I hate how the media needs to put that controversial twist on something that shouldn't be controversial at all. It's our natural born right to be able to protect ourselves.
All the critics rail on about irresponsible students carrying guns. They ignore faculty and staff most of whom are extremely responsible but are forbidden to carry and protect themselves and others.
This is a misrepisntation, kids on campus are not asking for guns. Campus violance is so minimal asper precentages. The law makers want it but the students don't,
My point is why are people crying about CHL holders carrying on campus when CHL holders have been carrying around them at a lot of other places for a long time. If they feel unsafe about CHL holders carrying on campus, they should've been afraid all the time. Of course they should not be afraid, I doubt ANY of these people against this have met A SINGLE CHL holder in their entire lives. EVERY SINGLE CHL holder I know are mature and responsible people.
HELL NO guns should not be allowed on campus wtf why would they pass a bill like that knowing that the crime rate is rapidly increasing. That's why we have police officers at college universities, community colleges, and tech schools for protection. We just need more law enforcement on campus I am a democratic and I am against the bill. It would cause problems if college students were armed let the secruity do their job for christ sakes. Mr. President PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THAT BILL.
@Jmix91dak You're a dem..that's your problem. DID YOU LISTEN TO ANY OF THIS? It's a STATE issue, NOT FEDERAL. The President has nothing to do with this and Obama is a moron like you, he wouldn't sign it. Nothing has happened in Utah, a state that allows campus carry. VT shooter chained the doors shut so police couldn't get in to help the sitting ducks in that building. Police take too long to get to a shooting area. Guns don't kill people you moron, gunmen do. Someone has to PULL THE TRIGGER.
@vonbassenheim Stressed out? Immature? You are totally ignorant on the topic. You have to be 21+ to get a concealed handgun license. In addition, these people already carry everywhere else in their everyday lives: banks, grocery stores, shopping malls, restaurants; guns are around you everyday. It would simply add 1 more place they can carry. Gun free zones are target-rich environments. Please take your ignorance elsewhere so people like me can protect your sorry ass :)
@Wingman813 You question whether college kids are stressed out? Have you ever been to college? Did you graduate? As for immature- the brain doesn't stop developing until the mid-twenties, which most college kids arent in their mid twenties.
For your information, I own several firearms myself, and shoot rifle competitively. I just understand that there is no need to go toting them around in public because im not shitting my pants like some people because theyre worried theyll get shot.
@vonbassenheim I'm a 23 year old college student going to University of Houston where students get mugged constantly. One student had a shotgun racked to the back of his head. Others have had pistols pulled on them, one student only 300 yards away from me at 6:30 pm. So, yes, there is a need for CONCEALED CARRY on campus. I'm not worried about getting shot, as I'll be the one shooting to kill first, should the situation arise. Stress has nothing to do with the concept of a concealed carry campus
@vonbassenheim While the brain doesn't stop developing until the mid-20s, people who carry concealed are trained, educated, and mature enough to handle the responsibility. You're opinions shouldn't take precedent over what others feel they need to protect themselves and their family. So, you're already wrong, I gave you a NEED for protection. Again, we are dealing with only people 21+, an age that has a great deal of maturity over, say, 18?
@Jmix91dak spoken like a true liberal. You wanna live in a playground? Go to the nation's capital where guns are outlawed and the crime rate is like 200 percent
unblievable US is the dummest country in the world! allow students to carry gun at schools! :s US should bann guns at the first place in whole country
@ASA1689 Yes you are more educated than me. Tons of people are more educated/INDOCTRINATED by the Government curriculum...which has royally FUCKED America up.
Which is exactly why Americans are retarded.
I agree, you are way more educated. Just not very intelligent.
One day you will know the difference between "Education" and "Intelligence".
Do your educated mind a favor and open up a dictionary, because your vocabulary sucks.
Your brilliance is void when it makes assumptions as to my education.
@DamnYourReallyUgly Did you really say that education is indoctrination by the government?
Let me guess, youre either a high school dropout, or you barely graduated high school, then did not proceed to go on to higher education. And now youre working in some dead end minimum wage job.
If you are going to form an opinion about something, please experience it yourself before you do so. You will probably make yourself seem a lot less ignorant then.
@DamnYourReallyUgly your comments doesnt make any sense! My english is maybe not the best because its not my native language,, my language is Swedish, and i speak fluent danish, persian and some finish as well.
My intelligence is nothing u can even comment either cause u dont even know me!
Any brainless idiot knows guns are bad when there are millions of them in a country which runs by rednecks....... soooo what are u nagging about?!?!
"It could go off in a class room, it could, you know so many things could go wrong". WOW, what is it that she thinks is going to be going on and how would this happen? maybe if I shot it on purpose you stupid woman. and by things going wrong I hope she was referring to her thought process, or lack there of. And to think, these are the people that are going to someday help lead society? I am very disappointed.
@cbizrap I think your statement IS officially the DUMBEST comment ever posted in the English language. BTW-- You don't speak a question...you ask it. Dumbass. Long live freedom,self-preservation and protection and a hedge against tyranny!!
@ugotitpunk I think your wanting of a large weapon is just you trying to overcompensate for having a small penis. If only they passed a law that made it so the number of bullets one could own could not go over the number of his or IQ. You wouldn't be able to fully load any fire arm, buddy.
@cbizrap You stupid little fuck. You're trying to debate me and you can't even use the proper terminology--lol. What the fuck do you have against "bullets"? Yeah you could throw them PRETTY hard.and you might put out an eye but that 's about the extent of it. LOL !!...YOU FUCKING IDIOT. You ever heard of --I'll say it S L O W L Y now so you might be able to understand--- ABREVIATION?? You're as useless as tits on boar, pathetically mentally challenged and have prob never held a gun in your life
I've seen kids get really angry at one another in school and start attacking each other. What if they had guns? School shootings would increase not because violence does, but because more weapons are available.
@TheGunslingr We are not talking about middle school or high school. Colleges, supposedly being a place of higher learning and having the attendance of adults, those who go through the training and get a permit should be allowed to carry. One doesn't just find a permit in a Cracker Jacks box.
this is the dumbest fucking argument. wtfffff are you thinking......why the fuck would you allow someone to carry a gun on school property. ppl are being shot on school campus and yall thinking about giving students the privilege to have a gun. get the fuck outta here.
@VelaToNorma7 You have some issues there. You are saying that if an adult feels the need to have a way to defend themselves, they should be put down as in put to death. You, for sure, should NEVER own a gun.
@dontlikenumbers No one needs a fucking gun, psycho. Your thinking's completely out of whack. But it's okay though because I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem getting into a fight with a person who has serious anger issues where they end up blowing your head off. Have fun with that, redneck.
@VelaToNorma7 Like I said you have some issues and you should never own a gun. I don't worry about someone else blowing my head off, because as the 2nd Amendment allows, I have the RIGHT to bare arms. Does calling me a redneck make you feel better? Maybe you are a just a racist that hates anyone that could have too much white blood.
@VelaToNorma7 it is not psycho to want to carry a gun. You say I'm paranoid/psycho for carrying a gun, I would say you are naive or oblivious to say that I shouldn't
@armypenguin Open carry can make a person a target to steal a weapon. Concealed makes everyone a potential carrier of a weapon and a potential risk to a criminal. plus concealed makes all the yellow belly liberals that want to ban all guns a little less nervous, they are only afraid of what they can see.
@dontlikenumbers Read what you wrote make them a target? You realize how little sense that makes now? Why would a criminal knowingly attack someone that can defend themselves? Yes it does make the anti gun people (can be conservatives too) less nervous but guess what I'm going for the opposite. Its there stupidity that makes them nervous not our guns.
@armypenguin on the contrary, imagine a pack of 3 or more thugs thinking they can over power one person to grab a gun. They have even done it to cops.
@dontlikenumbers A good renention holster should solve that and awareness don't be in your own world when your walking down the street listen and watch for threats.
@armypenguin We are on the same side here. But since I don't carry I do like the fact that so many around me do carry and conceal. It should make people think before attacking someone that looks like an unarmed person. Like they say "an armed society is a polite society."
It's pretty fucked up that as soon as you turn 18, you can be given a gun and shipped off to fight and possibly even die in combat "for your country" but you can't even own a handgun until you're 21, and even then you're not trusted to carry it in a lot of places. Ah, the hypocracy....
1.Our Constitution says: "...The right to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED..."
2. Bans against guns are only going to keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens not the criminals. Sooo, the public will be defenseless against criminals with firearms.
With a gun even if from a long distance away, acts of vengeance can be committed so easily that the normal citizen just does not feel safe walking down the street..
The amount of data and studies available against guns ownership is endless but still there are pple who prefer to live in an environment where guns are everywhere..
I mean there r many instruments that can commit murder and emotional killings, but what can be more easy to cause someone's death then pulling a trigger ??
Actually, I made a mistake. The 300% isn't overall crime, it's homicides. That's pretty bad. Gun crimes might go down, but overall crime goes up. Gun control keeps law abiding citizens from defending themselves, NOT keeping criminals from causing crimes (you really think a crminal is actually going to follow the law?)
congratulations: you just made a fool of yourself by trying to defend gun control laws that do not work at all (and actually increase crime, for that matter), and proving to everyone on the internet that you know jack shit about your own country.
U have any idea there are A LOTof twisted statistics out there churned out just to fulfill political agendas ?
We call them questionable statistics, they are not conducted fairly and not accepted by the established communities at large..
Anyway, ask all those other nationals from other countries and they will tell u how shocked they are to hear all these shooting news coming from the US, most people agree the US is quite possibly one of the dumbest countries when it comes to guns..
I come from Singapore where NO civilians are allowed to keep guns ANYWHERE..
OVer the past 10years, except for perhaps one or two isolated incident involving illegally stolen/smuggled gun, I cannot recall ANY shooting incident.. believe me I read the news every single day..
Population is 4million, over 10 years, go do yr maths..
(BTW, our crime rate is one of the lowest in the world too, next to other gun-banned countries like Japan. )
check out comparative crime rates of gun-banned countries INSTEAD OF selectively looking at which countries crime is going up or down.. (crime rates vary from year to year due to a wide variety of reasons, usually gun-banned countries will always have lower crime rates and citizens live in MUCH LESSER FEAR than cities like LA)
And pls look at crime rates in the LONG RUN, instead of simply at the immediate next year..
ALSO, crime rate in general has to do with many things like efficiency of local law enforcement, strictness of the law enactments, education level, cohesiveness of communities etc..
To be PRECISE, gun possession serves only to drive up HOMICIAL rates, google "NationMaster Murders per capita", look at all the "lawless" countries ranked above US, and how far below Canada, Australia Japan is..
"In 2005, homicides accounted for 40% of gun deaths..
Public-health researchers have concluded that in homes where guns are present, the likelihood that someone in the home will die from suicide or homicide is much greater.
Studies have also shown that homes in which a suicide occurred were three to five times more likely to have a gun present than households that did not experience a suicide, even after accounting for other risk factors."
i go to a university that is a couple feet away from the border, bullets have actually hit our rec center because of the violence across the border that day classes were canceled i remember hearing grenades pop and ak's shooting .. i just hauled ass to my car and got the f*** out of there lol true story
OMG! To say that allowing ppl to legally carry a gun could put a gun in a crazy person's hands, WTF. Crazy ppl and criminals get guns illegally, carry them illegally and use them illegally. No gun ban will ever spot that. Letting ppl conceal and carry could mean one less death. Look into College Park GA , where 2 guys broke into a party, end of story... one thug dead.
@dontlikenumbers You're 100% right! Look at students at Georgia State and Georgia Tech (both in downtown Atlanta.) At least once a week someone gets mugged on campus and students have no way of defending themselves.
BTW, about ten times as many people are killed in auto accidents annually than accidental gun deaths (43,000+ vs. 400). Why is their no wailing from the liberals to put tighter restrictions on cars?
lol oh but they have, leatherneck. the auto industry has to keep making cars lighter and ligher (see deathtraps) to keep up with the CAFE standards and such that the stupid government keeps increasing. How many people die in fiberglass cars who otherwise would have lived in a heavier car? but i guess that's ok, because we have to save the polar bears. go SCCC!!
of course there are more car deaths because MORE PEOPLE DRIVE CARS RETARD!!!! everyone drives a car all the time. everyone doesn't use a gun all the time. its maths fucktard. America has FAR more gun deaths than any other western countries, why? BECAUSE OF MORON REDNECK FUCKS LIKE YOU!!! it's not about 'Freedom" its about children getting to their parents guns and killing themselves, its about HIGH SCHOOL MASACRES YOU FUCK HOLE RETARD!!!
Thanks, Leigh. You are the perfect illustration to my point that selfish cowards trash brave men because they want to make themselves feel good. You also prove the point that pagan liberals are idiots who can't debate an issue or make a point without vulgar, kindergartenish name-calling. Score for Leigh!
actually, we have far more gun deaths because we have far more people than socialist countries. you need to start thinking in percentages. and percentage wise, our gun related deaths are actually lower than the UK, Austalia, and Canada. Plus, I come from China. China has HUGE gun control laws. compare crimes there to the crimes here. Much smaller.
final thing, high schools would be safer w/ guns than w/o guns.
@gameragodzilla you have no idea what you are talking about!!! im from australia and there are no gun deaths at all! as a matter a fact there are more gun deaths in detroit than both england and australia!!! you really need to get your facts straight or actually go to one of these countries mentioned before making such stupid comments!!! btw thank you for making my day you have given me and my friends a good laugh :)
You did the exact thing other idiots have done: go by population instead of percentages. There are less people in England and Australia. Also, Detroit has very strict gun laws, so you just proved my point. In fact, overall crime rose UP in Australia the day they implemented the gun ban. Overall crime went up almost 300%Same goes for England. Crime went UP nearly 400%. Just because you didn't experience them doesn't mean they don't happen. I. Have not had any crime happen to me in gun-crazy USA.
@gameragodzilla well done for pulling a percentage out of your ass....guns have always been band in australia!!! btw i have been living in georgia for the last 3 months and there has been more murders in the last 3 months in georgia than australia has witnessed in the last 10 years!! theres a reason why these countries have strict gun laws
yeah, why don't you give me proof of that. i have already given you internet proof that is from a news organization. YOU are pulling the percentages out of your ass. "georgia has had more murders!" got proof? "Australia is much safer than the U.S!" got proof? i have proof to back up my claims.
in case you missed it: geoffmetcalf com/guncontrol_20010302 html
yeah, moron, so far, all you did was give me a bunch of other statistics that are even more scewed than mine. comparing overall crime between countries is a terrible way to judge gun control laws. if i took away every single gun law in both Singapore and the U.S, Singapore would still have a much less crime rate. It's a different country, with different people, different personalities, different population etc. i compare countries before and after gun bans, and EVERY SINGLE TIME, gun crime and
suicide went up. Take your precious Japan, for instance. Their suicide rate is higher than the homicide AND suicide rate of the U.S. Going by your logic, why don't we look at Switzerland? Switzerland has LESS restrictive gun control AND LESS crime (lowest in the world). once again, different country, different people, different population. so far, in the U.S (at least, according to those "crazy gun-nuts" at the CDC), gun control laws DO NOT WORK. And you just proved my point with the LA comment.
LA has really restrictive gun laws when you compare it to the rest of the U.S. Same with Washington D.C before the 2006 Court Case, and Chicago. They all have high crime rates as well. Singapore, I'll admit, has less crime: mainly because you guys make a big deal about the smallest crime (i remember i read about some guy who got flogged for throwing a cigarette on the floor). therefore, I doubt any American would actually want to live like Singapore.
finally, while it is dangerous for a gun to be in a home, other studies have shown that bathtubs and swimming pools are more dangerous. you are about as likely to die from a gun accident as a plane crash. so, why don't we ban bathtubs and swimming pools? oh yeah, more people have died from choking, too. BAN FOOD. cars also kill a lot more people. BAN CARS. fact is, unless you want a virtual police state (which Singapore essentially is), banning guns is NOT going to help.
so yeah, there are plenty of stats against guns. most are scewed (idk how to spell it) data. going by actual statistics that do not have any political leanings (such as the CDC), it turns out that places that do ban guns will have 1 of the 2 happen:
1. crime increases dramatically (examples include England and Australia)
2. the country is a virtual police state that fines you hard for every tiny crime (examples include Singapore and Japan).
so congrats. i have just disproved everything you threw at me. gun accidents do increase when there is a gun in the house. however, it's still as rare as airplane crashes. comparing different countries is stupid because i can come up with an even better arguement with switzerland (it has the lower crime rate AND a higher gun ownership than the U.S). the only countries that I have seen that have a lower crime AND gun control are singapore and japan (both of which are virtual police states).
Now, be prepared to realise yr data sources are twisted:
Australia..
Pls refer to the established source of stats - the Australian Bureau of Statistics
The increases u cited about Aus r proven to be urban legends spun out by gun lobbying interest groups.. go to "snopes" website dedicated to exposing urban myths see for yrself.
A small example, they use small samples & absolute no. of cases to falsely reflect an increase, BUT in % terms, its shown to be decreasing..
same goes for the UK, read ALL the lengthy exposure of fallacies before u carry on anymore self-denial just to believe the outrageous myths spread by these selfish gun-money-making companies..
You are lucky I will spare u any further humiliation becos I have to get busy now..
(ADVICE: read your suspicious stats beyond the skin-deep understanding, dig deeper before u embarras yrself in front of analytical minds)
just to add to my point about looking at the LONG RUN..
Australia.. the recent years where there is available datas (2004-2007 from what i gather from ABS), the no. of homicide cases have hit record lows (at least 20% lower than the year 1997) since anti-gun laws were implemented.. THE LONG RUN..
.. and the proper way of reading statistics is NOT to go by absolute numbers but by per capita percentages, u and yr cohorts failed sorrily at statistics ..
Aahh, u see, if these gangs were using guns do u think the police can subdue them easily ??
U see, even gun-trained civilians can use guns for many purposes besides self-defence.. example to fight gangs, to pursue vengeance, to rob (guns embolden criminals A LOT MORE than knives), to murder from afar, to terrorise, etc etc..
1. England and Australia had a reduction in crime after crime rates SOARED. being that laws are passed each day, the reduction in crime is more attributed to more effective policing. the best way to see how the gun ban is working is to check out the years immedietly following the gun ban. both countries had crime rates soar.
2. Singapore has no gang fights because it's a virtual police state. cops sit there with video cameras watching your every move and
arresting you and sentencing you to long prison sentences for the mildest of crimes. that is one of the reasons why my dad never even considered moving to singapore nor will i ever consider moving there. it's a virtual police state, which is worse than a country that's freer, but has more crimes.
3. yes, people use guns for other reasons such as crime. here's the thing: guns are used far more to prevent crime than commit crimes (2.5 million self defense uses each year). and criminals aren't
hampered by gun laws. there's something called the black market. many guns used in crimes are illegal anyways. banning guns takes guns away from the law abiding citizen, while keeping the criminals armed (if they don't bother following the murder law, what makes you think they will follow that law). the only way to prevent the black market from selling arms is to become a virtual police state, which severely limits rights and freedoms.
congrats, once again, for proving to the world that gun-grabbers know next to nothing about guns and gun violence. this is a pointless debate however. the landmark 2006 supreme court case has already established the fact that handgun bans are unconstitutional, so i won't have to worry about the gov't trying to take the guns away. YOU are the one who's brainwashed, my friend.
this was written by a news organization, which i find far more trustworthy than a rumors site (which is what snopes is). high crime rates actually prompted japanese officials to issue warnings. now, where's the record low criminal activity that was supposedly resultant from the gun ban? in england, a study by the Department of Justice concluded that England is more violent than the U.S following the gun ban. where's the
super reduction in crime? so far, the ONLY countries that you have shown me that have a gun ban and low crime are japan and singapore (both of which are virtual police states).
all in all, once you look at the facts, you know that crime rates aren't lowered by gun control (quite the opposite), and that guns, while used to commit crimes, are used FAR more times to STOP crime. not to mention the fact that unarmed victims enbolden the criminal more than any gun in their hands would. in the end, you and your other gun-grabbing buddies continue to prove to the world you know jack shit about guns and gun violence.
All right, one last post. This debate is pointless. The supreme court has already ruled that firearms for the individual is constitutional, and it is supported by the vast majority of Americans, so I won't have to worry about that right being taken away anytime soon. The last thing is that while there are stats against gun ownership, the vast majority of stats are for gun ownership.
You cannot prove something is true just by insisting so.
Stop quoting England and Australia as examples because the claims by gun lobbyists have been roundly refuted long time ago, it just that u guys have nothing else to fall back on so u r still using the same ol same ol..
Switzerland..
Almost all journals quoting the abnormality of Switzerland's low homicide rate against high gun ownership, all of them quote this country as an ABNORMALITY, not happening in most countries..
.. stop dreaming that the US can be like Switzerland.
The social makeup..
..unlike the US, they have A LOT less social problems associated with poverty, racial tensions, and a host of other problems that the US have ..
A gun in the households in the US is a ticking time bomb, in Switzerland not so much..
Anyway, do yr homework u realise Switzland DO have lots of homicides within gun owning families, its one of many reasons they r also pushing towards tighter gun control ..
Do your research, in countries like Switzerland there have been little to none recorded cases whereby a personal gun has been used in a killing in an act of self-defence..
In the US, research in the 90s have shown that criminal use of guns is far more common than self-defense use of guns.
In Singapore we used to have mobsters using knives and choppers in fights, if these gangs were using guns do u think the police can subdue them easily ?
Turn a deaf ear to facts that runs against your arguments, thats what pple like u do..
and would u admit that the police in your country would have an easier time dealing with domestic gun violence, robbers, mobsters if they do not have to deal with gun-wielding criminals ?
yes, and the result would be a police state like japan and singapore. and america gets pissed off at the patriot act. yes, it is possible to not have guns AND be super hard on criminals, but that would be a huge infringement on rights. now it isn't the 2nd anymore that's in question. it's the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th as well. that's why there's a 2nd amendent. it seems that you don't just have a problem with the 2nd amendment. you have a problem with the others as well.
yes, we can crack down on criminals and disarm the public. it is possible. the result would be a very powerful police and gov't, which means that it can abuse it. shit like this happens all the time in countries (like saudi arabia). you say that america can't be like switzerland. well, america can be like singapore even less. most americans loathe gov't interference in their lives, and that's what the singapore gov't does. like i said before, most americans would rather be free and in danger
than safe, but with limited rights. you have yet to counter those arguements. also, you claim that the england and australia arguements have been refuted a long time ago, and yet, you have not. you have made about 7 posts, and not one of them actually refutes specific arguements. you just go about saying how singapore is doing it right, and we should crack down on public ownership of firearms as well as creating a virtual police state. will it be effective? probably. will it be accepted? no.
also, there are 2.5 million self defense uses every day (pulpless com/gunclock/kleck2 html). instead of pulling stats outta your ass, why don't you actually try and get me a real study. you claim more guns are used to commit crimes, and yet, you have not given me a single link to work with.
finally, the answer your singapore question: yes, it is easier for police to crack down on criminals that use knives instead of guns. it is also easier for criminals to attack victims that use knives instead of guns. unless the police is watching 24/7 and the country's a virtual police state (which singapore is), then it isn't going to work. thing is, most americans dislike police states, so no matter how "safe" the country is, americans won't want to go there.
americans DO NOT WANT a big gov't and police that monitors them constantly every time they walk outside. they DO NOT LIKE having huge punishments inflicted for the smallest of crimes. they HAVE GUNS to defend themselves because they DO NOT WANT a big police that will protect them at the cost of a huge amount of rights. basically, americans DO NOT WANT a police state. therefore, america will never be gun-free.
remember, always cite your sources. you don't seem to be doing that a lot (then again, since you pull most of the statistics outta your ass, i can't really blame ya). remember, 99.6% handguns and 99.8% firearms will NOT be used to commit crimes in the U.S. many guns used for crime are illegally obtained. the U.S is much bigger than singapore (meaning it's much harder to maintain), and people hate large police a lot more (meaning that anyone who tries to make the U.S like singapore will fail bad)
after reading through the debate we had, it seems that you totally ignore my arguement of singapore being a police state. all you seem to say is that singapore is so great because they are tough on criminals. yes, they are tough on criminals. they are also tough on everyone else. if the entire country was being watched by police every time they go outside, crime would also plummet. go to any american right now and ask if they really want it. most will say no.
Problem, Britain already has that, and now 13 y/o street thugs are getting their hands on full auto AK clones, and need I bring up our closest example to home Mexico? Even with the invasive searches, clamping down on human rights, and stripping a society of their ability to defend themselves, the crime hasn't dropped, it's skyrocketted, to the point where the UK runs adds about airsoft guns being converted to real guns (which is a lie), so now they have to ban TOYS, and that still won't fix it.
Liberals mock the idea of armed citizens protecting others to justify their own cowardice. Liberals are cowards, they feel guilty for it deep down, and so they ridicule anyone who acts with courage to make themselves feel better. In other words, they are masturbators
"Just like they make sure we can drive our cars they can make sure we can shoot our guns." Whoops, how many people die in car accidents a year in this country? God, you people are crazy. More dangerous weapons can only lead to more violence. It's simple logic.
Good point, but how much to we curtail freedom because some people abuse that freedom? Isn't it ironic that, in a democracy, average people rule, and thus, we take the risk that potentially evil or incompetent people will abuse their rights?
That may seem logical but there is absalutly NOOOOOO evidence to support the idea that the presence of guns would breed violence, i have NEVER herd of mass shootings happening at a gun show or a shooting range, however every time i turn on the news its X dead Y wounded at a school or church or any other "gun free zone" we should be able to defend ourselfs in these "gun free zones" that are evidently dangerous as fuck. Proof is in the puddin.
Exactly. The only recent mass shooting in Utah was in a Gun Free Zone called Trolley Square (it's a shopping mall). There have been no incidents on the College Campuses.
if somebody comes into your classroom. what will you do, call the police? youll be dead by the time the cops gets there. if you have concealed carry, you can save many lives and take down the person who wants to actually do harm
I believe guns should be allowed on campus, but packin' heat in your backpack where a pecncil could possibly pull the trigger on a "safe action" pistol (Glock) is just plain stupid. If you carry, you should be required to use some sort of holster concealment system. With a holster, nothing can go wrong.
Eventually, these people who oppose carrying guns on campus will be victims of a crime in which a firearm could have prevented. That is, however unfortunate for gun owners, due to the time before this happens, and for the victims' experience, the only way they will change their minds. I think I'll just move to Utah so i don't have to deal with this bull.
Well, I wonder if this girl has ever heard of something called a "trigger." The idea is that you must pull it before the gun can go off, and that's if there is a round chambered to begin with.
And, if the pistol is single action only, such as an M1911, you have to cock the hammer back first and all safeties must be disengaged before pulling the trigger drops the hammer.
more guns on campus will increase the chances of a large shooting espectially when students are seriously stressed and under a lot pressure. You ever been on a rage when your stressed and pissed? Give that person a gun and I'm sure you'll feel really safe.
Then why has it not happened in Utah? In 39 states you can carry a gun into a mall, a bank, a library, movie theater, and I don't see stressed people doing shootings there.
This country needs more judges like Napolitano. People who are against guns, in general, don't know very much about them and are scared of them. Inform yourself -- Knowledge is power!
"Well when the supreme court ruled last month about the right to keep and bear arms, it was referring to the right to keep and bear arms of adults in their homes."
Most college students are 18+ and CCW/CCP holders are 21+. (They're adults.) When I was in college last year, I was required to live on campus. (Campus=home for some students.) When I was a on campus, I WAS an adult in my home.
Plus, like the student said, why should we be disarmed just for overstepping an imaginary line?
Napolitano is mistaken about the facts of the 1966 University of Texas sniper attack. Although it's true that numerous students and faculty members did retrieve hunting rifles from vehicles and campus housing and return fire on the sniper, forcing him to keep his head down for over seventy minutes while an armed civilian and two police officers stormed the top of the bell tower where he was perched, it was actually one of the police officers, not the civilian, who shot and killed the assailant.
ARG, most of the stupid critics are not thinking of this intiligently, they hear gun and what atomaticaly comes to mind is NO NO BAD BAD VIOLENT! Ahh that's annoying! And i hate that they interview just regular kids on campus, whom have been raised by liberal families, whos only knowledge of guns is video games and violent movies! [sorry, had to vent there!]
why do they use terms like "pack heat" and "packing pupils" and compare all gun owners to school shooters?
and why do they show long rifles? we're not going to be ccing shotguns.

Jmix91dak 10 months ago
@Jmix91dak You're a dem..that's your problem. DID YOU LISTEN TO ANY OF THIS? It's a STATE issue, NOT FEDERAL. The President has nothing to do with this and Obama is a moron like you, he wouldn't sign it. Nothing has happened in Utah, a state that allows campus carry. VT shooter chained the doors shut so police couldn't get in to help the sitting ducks in that building. Police take too long to get to a shooting area. Guns don't kill people you moron, gunmen do. Someone has to PULL THE TRIGGER.
Wingman813 10 months ago
@Wingman813 Yeah, lets have a bunch of stressed-out, emotionally immature kids running around with firearms. Sounds great.
vonbassenheim 10 months ago
@vonbassenheim Stressed out? Immature? You are totally ignorant on the topic. You have to be 21+ to get a concealed handgun license. In addition, these people already carry everywhere else in their everyday lives: banks, grocery stores, shopping malls, restaurants; guns are around you everyday. It would simply add 1 more place they can carry. Gun free zones are target-rich environments. Please take your ignorance elsewhere so people like me can protect your sorry ass :)
Wingman813 10 months ago
@Wingman813 You question whether college kids are stressed out? Have you ever been to college? Did you graduate? As for immature- the brain doesn't stop developing until the mid-twenties, which most college kids arent in their mid twenties.
For your information, I own several firearms myself, and shoot rifle competitively. I just understand that there is no need to go toting them around in public because im not shitting my pants like some people because theyre worried theyll get shot.
vonbassenheim 10 months ago
@vonbassenheim I'm a 23 year old college student going to University of Houston where students get mugged constantly. One student had a shotgun racked to the back of his head. Others have had pistols pulled on them, one student only 300 yards away from me at 6:30 pm. So, yes, there is a need for CONCEALED CARRY on campus. I'm not worried about getting shot, as I'll be the one shooting to kill first, should the situation arise. Stress has nothing to do with the concept of a concealed carry campus
Wingman813 10 months ago
@vonbassenheim While the brain doesn't stop developing until the mid-20s, people who carry concealed are trained, educated, and mature enough to handle the responsibility. You're opinions shouldn't take precedent over what others feel they need to protect themselves and their family. So, you're already wrong, I gave you a NEED for protection. Again, we are dealing with only people 21+, an age that has a great deal of maturity over, say, 18?

Concealed carry would be great on campus but from there we should get open carry.
armypenguin 1 year ago
@armypenguin Open carry can make a person a target to steal a weapon. Concealed makes everyone a potential carrier of a weapon and a potential risk to a criminal. plus concealed makes all the yellow belly liberals that want to ban all guns a little less nervous, they are only afraid of what they can see.
dontlikenumbers 1 year ago
@dontlikenumbers Read what you wrote make them a target? You realize how little sense that makes now? Why would a criminal knowingly attack someone that can defend themselves? Yes it does make the anti gun people (can be conservatives too) less nervous but guess what I'm going for the opposite. Its there stupidity that makes them nervous not our guns.

We call them questionable statistics, they are not conducted fairly and not accepted by the established communities at large..
Anyway, ask all those other nationals from other countries and they will tell u how shocked they are to hear all these shooting news coming from the US, most people agree the US is quite possibly one of the dumbest countries when it comes to guns..
uuduu7 1 year ago
I come from Singapore where NO civilians are allowed to keep guns ANYWHERE..
OVer the past 10years, except for perhaps one or two isolated incident involving illegally stolen/smuggled gun, I cannot recall ANY shooting incident.. believe me I read the news every single day..
Population is 4million, over 10 years, go do yr maths..
(BTW, our crime rate is one of the lowest in the world too, next to other gun-banned countries like Japan. )
uuduu7 1 year ago
Also,
Dont be dumb,
check out comparative crime rates of gun-banned countries INSTEAD OF selectively looking at which countries crime is going up or down.. (crime rates vary from year to year due to a wide variety of reasons, usually gun-banned countries will always have lower crime rates and citizens live in MUCH LESSER FEAR than cities like LA)
uuduu7 1 year ago
And pls look at crime rates in the LONG RUN, instead of simply at the immediate next year..
ALSO, crime rate in general has to do with many things like efficiency of local law enforcement, strictness of the law enactments, education level, cohesiveness of communities etc..
To be PRECISE, gun possession serves only to drive up HOMICIAL rates, google "NationMaster Murders per capita", look at all the "lawless" countries ranked above US, and how far below Canada, Australia Japan is..

Also check out "Gun Control Network" website for more statistics and analysis for the facts against guns ownership.

Taken from the Huffington Post:
"In 2005, homicides accounted for 40% of gun deaths..
Public-health researchers have concluded that in homes where guns are present, the likelihood that someone in the home will die from suicide or homicide is much greater.
Studies have also shown that homes in which a suicide occurred were three to five times more likely to have a gun present than households that did not experience a suicide, even after accounting for other risk factors."

leatherneck2044 2 years ago 2
lol oh but they have, leatherneck. the auto industry has to keep making cars lighter and ligher (see deathtraps) to keep up with the CAFE standards and such that the stupid government keeps increasing. leatherneck2044 2 years ago 4
actually, we have far more gun deaths because we have far more people than socialist countries. you need to start thinking in percentages. and percentage wise, our gun related deaths are actually lower than the UK, Austalia, and Canada. Plus, I come from China. China has HUGE gun control laws. compare crimes there to the crimes here. Much smaller.
final thing, high schools would be safer w/ guns than w/o guns.

taker3106 2 years ago
You did the exact thing other idiots have done: go by population instead of percentages. There are less people in England and Australia. Also, Detroit has very strict gun laws, so you just proved my point. In fact, overall crime rose UP in Australia the day they implemented the gun ban. Overall crime went up almost 300%Same goes for England. Crime went UP nearly 400%. Just because you didn't experience them doesn't mean they don't happen. I. Have not had any crime happen to me in gun-crazy USA.

@gameragodzilla well done for pulling a percentage out of your ass....guns have always been band in australia!!! btw i have been living in georgia for the last 3 months and there has been more murders in the last 3 months in georgia than australia has witnessed in the last 10 years!! theres a reason why these countries have strict gun laws

uuduu7 1 year ago
yeah, moron, so far, all you did was give me a bunch of other statistics that are even more scewed than mine. comparing overall crime between countries is a terrible way to judge gun control laws. if i took away every single gun law in both Singapore and the U.S, Singapore would still have a much less crime rate. It's a different country, with different people, different personalities, different population etc. i compare countries before and after gun bans, and EVERY SINGLE TIME, gun crime and
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
suicide went up. And you just proved my point with the LA comment.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
LA has really restrictive gun laws when you compare it to the rest of the U.S. Same with Washington D.C before the 2006 Court Case, and Chicago. They all have high crime rates as well. Singapore, I'll admit, has less crime: mainly because you guys make a big deal about the smallest crime (i remember i read about some guy who got flogged for throwing a cigarette on the floor). therefore, I doubt any American would actually want to live like Singapore.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
finally, while it is dangerous for a gun to be in a home, other studies have shown that bathtubs and swimming pools are more dangerous. you are about as likely to die from a gun accident as a plane crash. so, why don't we ban bathtubs and swimming pools? oh yeah, more people have died from choking, too. BAN FOOD. cars also kill a lot more people. BAN CARS. fact is, unless you want a virtual police state (which Singapore essentially is), banning guns is NOT going to help.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
so yeah, there are plenty of stats against guns. most are scewed (idk how to spell it) data. going by actual statistics that do not have any political leanings (such as the CDC), it turns out that places that do ban guns will have 1 of the 2 happen:
1. crime increases dramatically (examples include England and Australia)
2. the country is a virtual police state that fines you hard for every tiny crime (examples include Singapore and Japan).
neither of which i would be happy to live in
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
so congrats. i have just disproved everything you threw at me. gun accidents do increase when there is a gun in the house. however, it's still as rare as airplane crashes. comparing different countries is stupid because i can come up with an even better arguement with switzerland (it has the lower crime rate AND a higher gun ownership than the U.S). the only countries that I have seen that have a lower crime AND gun control are singapore and japan (both of which are virtual police states).

and let me try to recall when was the last time in Singapore there was a mass murder carried out by a disturbed person anywhere..
.. mmm..
.. NONE.
uuduu7 1 year ago
gamer
oops, maybe I was wrong..
there was mass murder in Singapore - during WWII.
Oh, and gang fights by pple using choppers..
Aahh, u see, if these gangs were using guns do u think the police can subdue them easily ??
U see, even gun-trained civilians can use guns for many purposes besides self-defence.. example to fight gangs, to pursue vengeance, to rob (guns embolden criminals A LOT MORE than knives), to murder from afar, to terrorise, etc etc..
uuduu7 1 year ago
there are several logic problems.
1. England and Australia had a reduction in crime after crime rates SOARED. being that laws are passed each day, the reduction in crime is more attributed to more effective policing. the best way to see how the gun ban is working is to check out the years immedietly following the gun ban. both countries had crime rates soar.
2. Singapore has no gang fights because it's a virtual police state. cops sit there with video cameras watching your every move and
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
arresting you and sentencing you to long prison sentences for the mildest of crimes. that is one of the reasons why my dad never even considered moving to singapore nor will i ever consider moving there. it's a virtual police state, which is worse than a country that's freer, but has more crimes.
3. yes, people use guns for other reasons such as crime. here's the thing: guns are used far more to prevent crime than commit crimes (2.5 million self defense uses each year). and criminals aren't
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
hampered by gun laws. there's something called the black market. many guns used in crimes are illegal anyways. banning guns takes guns away from the law abiding citizen, while keeping the criminals armed (if they don't bother following the murder law, what makes you think they will follow that law). the only way to prevent the black market from selling arms is to become a virtual police state, which severely limits rights and freedoms.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
congrats, once again, for proving to the world that gun-grabbers know next to nothing about guns and gun violence. this is a pointless debate however. the landmark 2006 supreme court case has already established the fact that handgun bans are unconstitutional, so i won't have to worry about the gov't trying to take the guns away. YOU are the one who's brainwashed, my friend.

this was written by a news organization, which i find far more trustworthy than a rumors site (which is what snopes is). high crime rates actually prompted japanese officials to issue warnings. now, where's the record low criminal activity that was supposedly resultant from the gun ban? in england, a study by the Department of Justice concluded that England is more violent than the U.S following the gun ban. where's the

gameragodzilla 1 year ago
wow, i made way too many posts...
all in all, once you look at the facts, you know that crime rates aren't lowered by gun control (quite the opposite), and that guns, while used to commit crimes, are used FAR more times to STOP crime. not to mention the fact that unarmed victims enbolden the criminal more than any gun in their hands would. in the end, you and your other gun-grabbing buddies continue to prove to the world you know jack shit about guns and gun violence.
have a nice day.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
All right, one last post. This debate is pointless. The supreme court has already ruled that firearms for the individual is constitutional, and it is supported by the vast majority of Americans, so I won't have to worry about that right being taken away anytime soon. The last thing is that while there are stats against gun ownership, the vast majority of stats are for gun ownership.
Good bye and have a nice day.

You cannot prove something is true just by insisting so.
Stop quoting England and Australia as examples because the claims by gun lobbyists have been roundly refuted long time ago, it just that u guys have nothing else to fall back on so u r still using the same ol same ol..
Switzerland..
Almost all journals quoting the abnormality of Switzerland's low homicide rate against high gun ownership, all of them quote this country as an ABNORMALITY, not happening in most countries..
uuduu7 1 year ago
gamer
.. stop dreaming that the US can be like Switzerland.
The social makeup..
..unlike the US, they have A LOT less social problems associated with poverty, racial tensions, and a host of other problems that the US have ..
A gun in the households in the US is a ticking time bomb, in Switzerland not so much..
Anyway, do yr homework u realise Switzland DO have lots of homicides within gun owning families, its one of many reasons they r also pushing towards tighter gun control ..
uuduu7 1 year ago
gamer
Do your research, in countries like Switzerland there have been little to none recorded cases whereby a personal gun has been used in a killing in an act of self-defence..
In the US, research in the 90s have shown that criminal use of guns is far more common than self-defense use of guns.
uuduu7 1 year ago
gamer
.. and most cases of using guns for self-defence are predominantly law-enforcement officers instead of civilians..
uuduu7 1 year ago
gamer
.. and u FORGOT to address my question..
In Singapore we used to have mobsters using knives and choppers in fights, if these gangs were using guns do u think the police can subdue them easily ?
Turn a deaf ear to facts that runs against your arguments, thats what pple like u do..
uuduu7 1 year ago
gamer
and would u admit that the police in your country would have an easier time dealing with domestic gun violence, robbers, mobsters if they do not have to deal with gun-wielding criminals ?
uuduu7 1 year ago
gamer
the truth is:
If all households (except those of law-enforcement officers) do not own guns and if the black market for gun sales are clamped down,..
.. the weapon of choice for criminals would be a lot less life-threatening and easier for an effective police force to deal with.
As for self-defence, the best form of self-defence is still to pre-empt the criminals' choice of weapons..
SO, stop putting guns in hands of civilians becos every household is a potential criminal..
uuduu7 1 year ago
yes, and the result would be a police state like japan and singapore. and america gets pissed off at the patriot act. yes, it is possible to not have guns AND be super hard on criminals, but that would be a huge infringement on rights. now it isn't the 2nd anymore that's in question. it's the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th as well. that's why there's a 2nd amendent. it seems that you don't just have a problem with the 2nd amendment. you have a problem with the others as well.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
yes, we can crack down on criminals and disarm the public. it is possible. the result would be a very powerful police and gov't, which means that it can abuse it. shit like this happens all the time in countries (like saudi arabia). you say that america can't be like switzerland. well, america can be like singapore even less. most americans loathe gov't interference in their lives, and that's what the singapore gov't does. like i said before, most americans would rather be free and in danger
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
than safe, but with limited rights. you have yet to counter those arguements. also, you claim that the england and australia arguements have been refuted a long time ago, and yet, you have not. you have made about 7 posts, and not one of them actually refutes specific arguements. you just go about saying how singapore is doing it right, and we should crack down on public ownership of firearms as well as creating a virtual police state. will it be effective? probably. will it be accepted? no.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
also, there are 2.5 million self defense uses every day (pulpless com/gunclock/kleck2 html). instead of pulling stats outta your ass, why don't you actually try and get me a real study. you claim more guns are used to commit crimes, and yet, you have not given me a single link to work with.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
finally, the answer your singapore question: yes, it is easier for police to crack down on criminals that use knives instead of guns. it is also easier for criminals to attack victims that use knives instead of guns. unless the police is watching 24/7 and the country's a virtual police state (which singapore is), then it isn't going to work. thing is, most americans dislike police states, so no matter how "safe" the country is, americans won't want to go there.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
americans DO NOT WANT a big gov't and police that monitors them constantly every time they walk outside. they DO NOT LIKE having huge punishments inflicted for the smallest of crimes. they HAVE GUNS to defend themselves because they DO NOT WANT a big police that will protect them at the cost of a huge amount of rights. basically, americans DO NOT WANT a police state. therefore, america will never be gun-free.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
remember, always cite your sources. you don't seem to be doing that a lot (then again, since you pull most of the statistics outta your ass, i can't really blame ya). remember, 99.6% handguns and 99.8% firearms will NOT be used to commit crimes in the U.S. many guns used for crime are illegally obtained. the U.S is much bigger than singapore (meaning it's much harder to maintain), and people hate large police a lot more (meaning that anyone who tries to make the U.S like singapore will fail bad)
gameragodzilla 1 year ago
after reading through the debate we had, it seems that you totally ignore my arguement of singapore being a police state. all you seem to say is that singapore is so great because they are tough on criminals. yes, they are tough on criminals. they are also tough on everyone else. if the entire country was being watched by police every time they go outside, crime would also plummet. go to any american right now and ask if they really want it. most will say no.
gameragodzilla 1 year ago

It's simple logic.
cj694x2 2 years ago
Good point, but how much to we curtail freedom because some people abuse that freedom? Isn't it ironic that, in a democracy, average people rule, and thus, we take the risk that potentially evil or incompetent people will abuse their rights?
leatherneck2044 2 years ago
That may seem logical but there is absalutly NOOOOOO evidence to support the idea that the presence of guns would breed violence, i have NEVER herd of mass shootings happening at a gun show or a shooting range, however every time i turn on the news its X dead Y wounded at a school or church or any other "gun free zone" we should be able to defend ourselfs in these "gun free zones" that are evidently dangerous as fuck. Proof is in the puddin.

Exactly. The only recent mass shooting in Utah was in a Gun Free Zone called Trolley Square (it's a shopping mall). There have been no incidents on the College Campuses.

if somebody comes into your classroom. what will you do, call the police? youll be dead by the time the cops gets there. if you have concealed carry, you can save many lives and take down the person who wants to actually do harm
sming01 1 year ago
I believe guns should be allowed on campus, but packin' heat in your backpack where a pecncil could possibly pull the trigger on a "safe action" pistol (Glock) is just plain stupid. If you carry, you should be required to use some sort of holster concealment system. With a holster, nothing can go wrong.

Why don't you ever hear of a madman opening fire at a police station?...or military base?....or a prison?
Wouldn't a "Gun-free Zone" be the LEAST likely place for a shooting?

Eventually, these people who oppose carrying guns on campus will be victims of a crime in which a firearm could have prevented. That is, however unfortunate for gun owners, due to the time before this happens, and for the victims' experience, the only way they will change their minds. I think I'll just move to Utah so i don't have to deal with this bull.

yep, one more ignoramus who thinks guns have minds of their own and just "go off" at random.
TheStapleGunKid 3 years ago 4
Seriously.
"It can go off in a classroom..."
Guns simply can't go off by themselves.

more guns on campus will increase the chances of a large shooting espectially when students are seriously stressed and under a lot pressure. You ever been on a rage when your stressed and pissed? Give that person a gun and I'm sure you'll feel really safe.

Then why has it not happened in Utah? In 39 states you can carry a gun into a mall, a bank, a library, movie theater, and I don't see stressed people doing shootings there.
