I think the Japanese distributor changed the title trying to get more audiences since this one came out just a year after from Fulci's smash hit "Zombie" which was also retitled as "Sangueria" (adopted from the word, sanguineous). As they did it for Deep Red. They do something like this a lot for business reason.
