The reason it usually gets translated as "son of a bitch" is because translators try to americanize the dialogue since "son of a bitch" is a common english language insult.Translators do this subtle changes so the english speaking audience gets more confortable while watching a foreign language movie. "Puta" is a portuguese/spanish insult and its closest english word translation is "whore" so the video is correct.

Well, the blade was small, and it didn't penetrate any vital organs (it was more like stabs to the shoulder). The most danger was exsanguination, but he was treated pretty immediately. Gotta luv Mercedes though.

the scene of the bottle is the first scene where we see Vidal´s brutality, remember that the capitain is talking with the doctor and asks him, how is my son? and then two other soldiers come and say excuse us capitain and he raises his hand like saying don´t interrupt me, then the doctor tells him the baby is ok and then he goes with the two soldiers and the two soldiers explain him they have found a man shooting and his son that came from the town, the man said he was hunting rabits.
