extensive explanation on all the little things, that are a pain in the ass to figure out when you do it alone..

    Great teacher Thanks :)

  • T.y nice video!!!!1

  • nice

  • 240 ftw

  • thank god he went so slow. he didnt skip anything or try to rush through it. easy enough for a beginner like me to learn quick. and he put some tricks and trouble shooting in there. good stuff. and he sounds really nice

  • you are an awesome instructor, thank you very much :)

  • Thank you. Awsome lesson.

  • pull-off is so fucking hard dude, and i didn't know about that until few days ago, argh

  • pull-off's are like a million times harder.. i always pick the pulls :D

  • @TommittajaFIN haha i was like that too when i started off, just keep practicing i promise you'll get it. Lol yeah, thats all you can do.. practice

  • i have to jump on board with everyone else when they say you are an amazing teacher i dont know how many videos of watched that didnt explain the "pulling down with your finger to make the other note ring" that part in itself was what i needed to hear

  • thanks fpr posting

  • u want a good pull off training exercise, try the readymade solo by the red hot chili peppers, for some reason its challenging for me even though a lot of people say its easy

  • Very clear and informative explanations, thank you and keep teaching, you're pretty good at it. Checking out Hammer Ons video now.

  • thanks man that really helped me. you are really good teacher \m/

  • Thanks Man!

  • You are a really good teacher! 5/5

    Very clear, thanks man.

  • dude your the best teacher ever

  • nice helped alot

  • im not evn that good and im awesome at pull offs and nice vid

  • thank you so fucking much.. been stuck on the pull off..

  • yes Kistarcsa, yes place your index on both strings, but if you have distortion on (assuming this is the solo of Fade to Black or something), then you kind of 'swing' your finger for only ONE string to sound at a time. You don't want to have multiple strings sounding at the same time because it gets noisy.

  • Thanks man!

  • TY MAN

  • very clear! thanks

  • no joke, best instructor ever. i subbed

  • so is a pull off the same as a hammer off which some people call it lol

  • yes

  • If anyone could help me:

I want to play the following really fast:

    e15p12, then B12 then repeat

My question is, do I have to place my index finger on the 12th fret on both strings?

  • so hammering on is when you strum then put your finger on another fret but keeping your 1st finger on the fret it was already on and pulling off is the opposite you remove your finger from the fret kindaof going reverse message me if im right

  • I'm still a newb so I might be wrong...

When hammering on you don't have to leave your first finger sense the note that's playing is a higher one and sometimes you need to use it for another note (the first finger). Pulling off like this guy said you should have both fingers in place before playing.

Other then leaving the first finger when hammering on I think you've got it.

  • Perfect, thanks a lot

  • Thanks a lot ^_^

  • fantastic lesson just when performing pull off during a trill should you still flick the string to sound it out? Or should you focus on speed?

  • thanks a lot dude, finally a good pull off lesson.

  • AT LAST. not one of those who just show off.

THANK YOU, THAT really helped :):)

  • Thanks very much...was stumped on this but I think I get it now...NICE work !

  • Aww yay now I understand both, thanks this helps a LOT! =]

  • Oi you guys look at his hand at 0:42 it is funny lol. BTW great video :)

  • 0:40 look at his right hand

  • dude this was awesome u rock

  • PERFECT

  • That's was very well explained! It helped me out alot! thank you.

  • Very clear and specific, great lesson!

  • Nice Lesson. I would also state that if you bend the string too much your pull-off will be slightly out of tune. Thanks for the beautiful lesson

  • It does work on acoustics, its just a little bit harder. Make sure you do put that downwards rpessure that he talks about or the acoustic just won't talk

  • thank you!!question, why doesn't it sound audible in acoustic guitar?does it work only in electrics??thanks:)

  • Excellent, thankyou, I owe you man

  • thanks dude

  • Thanks you buddy

  • nice one...

  • thank you so much! im so glad i found your videos. They're awesome and your really clear and not confusing like most. =) thanks again!!

    im def gonna sub. =)

  • What i found out was if you hammer on to the fret push up on the string very slightly but not bend it up so the string has a little bit of tenstion on it then pull down slightly and roll your finger off as you release the string , The string will almost FLICK its self

  • Oh my god! Thank you so much! I actually learned something for once. Thanks for the VERY clear tutorial. :D

  • Thanks mate.. Just thanks. Great tutorial, i've been having that soft/dead note sound, that you described... It was really annoying. Say I would try to do a solo with fast pull-offs, I wouldn't get that pulloff sound.. It was really bugging me. You explained it very well, the flick and all, etc, thanks.

  • Wow... Awesome tutorial. I had that problem where my pull offs would go "dead", but this vid should help me a LOT...

  • Best tutorial on youtube.

ALll the other so called tutorials, are really just blokes showing off with no help.

I'm learning an irish tune and it's got some hard pull offs, three in a row on the same string....:O ahhhhh!

    Thanks :)

  • I was reading some tabs when I saw 9p10 (9 pull off 10) instead of 10p9 how do you play that? Or is jst a mistake and really suppose to be 9h10?

  • Yeah...

    9h10.

Some tab-writers just try to utilize common sense...

divebombers here, I really get the feeling you want to help and not just 'oohhh look at what I can do, bask in my glory!'

  • Dude, that was amazing. Thanks so much! I've struggled with pull offs being a very casual player, and i've only ever guessed (and played them wrong) what they were from tabs. Thanks again :)

  • Nice to see a cool teacher on here that's not full of himself and actually wants people to learn. Thanks!

    thanks

  • good. that was very straight forward

  • Thats perfect, Great for beginners.(Like me xD)

  • I have a doubt, When I'm doin' a pull off I have to pull down a little bit the string when I'm doin it. Or I just play the string and I drop the string(havin' my finger in the fret I'm gonna drop? As hammer-on but opposite, I only play it and I have to raise the finger¡ OPr exactly what I should do? Answer me plz.

Sorry if my english it's not correct, I hope you can understand me

  • Thank you very much. Excellent lesson, you anwser all my questions.

  • this video is so damn useful i cant explain. this actually taught me somthing, other videos say "lesson" but i have no idea wtf they are doing. thanks

  • perfect man, this's an excellent video. Thank you very much.

  • I don't get it, do you hold 2 fingers on the same string, but when you pull off your first string, try to pull it downwards so when you take it off it hits again? Hit reply if you answer this plz.

  • pretty much but when u release the string, instead of just lifting your finger off upwards go a bit diagonal so that that its like your finger picks the string a second time, if you touch it again with yours finger your jst going to kill the sound if thats what your saying, and now i think this comment isnt goin to help anyone :P oh well i tryed

  • it helped me thnx man

  • You sir, are a god, it took my 15 videos to watch before i came to this and this explained every one of my questions while the others did not. THANK YOU.

  • thanxman great video

  • amazing!!!

    Fantastic lesson

  • That was intense man =P

  • your brilliant dude i didnt even have to watch it twice you jus taught me how to pul off cheers!!!
