  • why do people try to argue what is better or best when clearly you are just expressing your own personal tastes? It's mind boggling. Get a grip young people, give this pointless pissing contest a break and enjoy music. Better, create your own.

  • Here's the funniest part. No Matter What YOU say........Now Stay with me here......No Matter What You Say.......I am Going to Disagree. Because I know MM's cover was much better.

  • @NationofTheUnknown Magnet's cover sucked, get over it. They were the lesser band, no one disagrees lol. Hell, even J.McBain & Dave themselves would laugh at your face for spouting off some bullshit like that :-) No offense if you've got bad taste or a poor ear for quality ;-) Cheers!!

  • And for the record, Monster Magnet's version sounds like every other MM song. Not that it's a bad thing, but certainly nothing coming close to the grandeur of this mammoth cover. They completely reconstructed the song (for the better, if you were to ask me). The MM version just sounds like the band jamming the song out, nothing more. Same with the SG version. Exhorder's is hilarious, but c'mon, that band doesn't even walk the same ground as a band like Kyuss :-/

  • @ConiferTreez Nooo Shit they Jammed out, That's what Stoner/Psychedelic Rock is famous for And By the way. Adding Bongo's, a few extra Solo measures and Detuning Isn't "RECONSTRUCTING" Anything.

  • :D

  • 10/10. Superb. This is a lesson on how it's done.

  • I just reckon it shows what a great song it is - clearly the bands are all fans. My old band used to open our set with it based on this version without the wigout in the middle. Always got the crowd warmed up. we did warpigs, NIB, Black Sabbath too. Loved every minute of it.

  • @joyceycousteau NIB is a great one to cover, so much you can do to make it your own and keep it HEAVY

  • @joyceycousteau I love the wig-out in the middle! Totally sets this version apart from eeeeevvvvverybody else's version of this bad-ass but over-covered song!

  • @grazzly1 absolutely, classic West Coast psychedelia jam there

  • Oh are we doin this? Oh yeah this is happening. As far as covers go, Monster Magnet has the best cover version of "Into The Void" The Vocals are Raunchier, the guitars have a heavier, rocking tone and the stuff they added fit the song awesomely. Kyuss rocks, Soundgarden is shit in general but Monster Magnet sets the example.

  • @NationofTheUnknown not a fucking chance. MM's cover sucked, and Soundgarden's first 3 albums are classics, what the fuck are you smoking? This is the greatest cover of this track.

  • @ConiferTreez Sorry, Nation, but I gots to cosign to ConiferTreez on this one.

  • @grazzly1 Dude go with whoever you want, it's personal Preference. A lot of people Like Kyuss's Version I'm not one of 'em. I heard MM's version long before Kyuss's and that's probably why I don't like it as much. Love kyuss and the cover but it's not the best in MY Opinion. :)

  • @ConiferTreez You're fucking kidding yourself. Exhorders Version is even better than Kyuss's. Kyuss Rocks and has a good cover but it's Good. That's all. MM has the best, Exhorder comes in Second and Soundgarden, well let's be honest they're no Audioslave ;D

  • @NationofTheUnknown Kyuss crafted the best cover, they were the superior band, musically & tastefully. Get over it, geez...

  • @ConiferTreez HAHAHAHAHA! Yeeeeeaaaah right. Maybe if Johns Voice had more Character. You're jizzing over the fact they added Bongo's. MM added Feeling, They actually Rock out and enjoy what their playing, you can hear it in every recording.

  • I'm torn as to whether I like the original, this cover or Soundgarden's better. There's not much betwixt them, but I think that this one is the weakest. Garcia's voice lets it down, he's just not got the range. Soundgarden tops the lot - Cornell has the best voice of the three, and compared to this version Thayil's solo is better, his sound is clearer, if not as heavy, Ben Shepherd's bass playing is much better, Matt Cameron is a better drummer... but I still like this for that desert doom vibe.

  • @EccentricRichard Soundgardens version sucks because of the lyrics.

  • @UNTC321 - really? I've just read the lyrics (Kyuss use the originals, Soundgarden totally re-write the song) and I think they're great! They're addressing a different, albeit related, subject area to the original 'evil in today's world at the time of the space race, the hope of finding somewhere new without evil' theme - the conflict between the white man and the 'Indian' Natives in America. It's not the same but it's equally good IMO.

  • @EccentricRichard Are you kidding? I am a Sabbath fan first and foremost . I just heard this version a few weeks ago for the first time. It is the best "cover" of this song out there. Original, rocks, and Kicks complete ass!

  • @EccentricRichard Ben Shepherd better than Scott Reeder? Put the crack pipe down :-l

  • Thsi song makes the Sabbath version look like a cover.

  • sabbath reunites for new record and world tour

  • Man. Such a good fucking cover of such a good fucking Sabbath tune.

Kyuss does it some serious justice.

  • @therealshugjr of course its kyuss not justin bieber lol

  • Me just luv this version!

  • anyone seen Kyuss Lives!? i really need to see them, are they jsut as kick ass?

  • @jimmyredpant i saw them...and they are GREAT!

  • @woodhausen @craine4 i once heard a description saying that kyuss sound like "a black sabbath that grew up in the desert" i was hooked.

  • @jimmyredpant i saw garcia plays kyuss...and kyuss live....and voth concert were creat...and now i´m looking forward to see black sabbath 2012 :)

pls listen to Zyonara wild paradize (my friends stoner rock band)

  • @jimmyredpant You'll only get to see Josh and QOTSA now. Kyuss split years ago although there are the occasional guest appearances.

  • the guitar might as well be a bass, so heavy.

  • @jimmyredpant I'm pretty sure Homme actually played his guitar through bass amps when he was in Kyuss.

  • @BenGordonBITCHSLAP yea i remember hearing that

  • @BenGordonBITCHSLAP He used bass cabs but always guitar amps. Marshall and later on Tubeworks.

  • @jonnyrocketballs69 I saw Kyuss at the Palladium in '92 or '93 and he was bumping Ampeg V-4s and I saw QOTSA in 2001 and he was playing the same V-4s.

  • This version is more doom than the SG one.

  • @brottarnacke Until it goes into the slow funky jazz number at 2:58

  • lacks some of the life of the original and doesn't make up for it with anything new to offer in terms of style and ...singer sucks. meh.

  • @91nickt you must be listening to something else lmfao....clean ya ears out, boy

  • Nobody does this cover heavier than Kyuss. Ok, thanks for your time, but you lost.

  • We do this cover, heavy, check us out: JACKelmira, thx!

  • This is very good. But Soundgarden's version is better. It 'bleeds' talent.

  • @Audioslave3 i think not, Soundgarden sounds like a high school rock band trying to pull this off

  • @ConiferTreez A high school rock band?? Really? Obviously, that's what you call a great band.

  • @Audioslave3 HAH c'mon now, Soundgarden were a great band, but Kyuss in it's prime was a mighty beast, right up there with Sabbath & Zeppelin. They made Soundgarden sound like Creed, no offense.

  • @ConiferTreez Well, Soundgarden were(we'll see if they still are) the band that combined Sabbath and Zeppelin's sound the best. And I can't think of any more experimenting bands than them, the difference from one album to another is clear while they were able to keep their style and sound.

  • @ConiferTreez Soundgarden? Really? SG rapes this piece of shite Kyuss all day everyday - handing pwnage out! too much crack 4 yu!

  • @91nickt not..sure....if....serious..??

  • Is it bad that I prefer this over the original? I mean come on, it has bongos!

  • @Scrappy1138 Oh no, not latin percussion in a rock song! That's not approved by the Generic Rock Handbook. Someone drag these spics out back and deport them along with Santana!

  • Flag of Doom High (no comment)!

  • yeah Kyuss could cover them well!.....just listen to the guitar influence of "warpigs" on the song "freedom run"

And speaking of Warpigs...Faith no More is without a doubt the best version including the original....I actually heard it first by them.

  • guy's music is for listening, not nagging about it, its to like or to hate.

And i love it, my 2 favorite bands in one vid.

i hate it so much that i havent seen kyuss or black sabbath live, the always say i was born 50 years to late,...

  • This song is fucking sick!!! Original is still timeless but well done Kyuss! Hey look at those silly fuckers arguing about whats best haha why wont they realise, its all good! Peace

  • im so excited this is the first time i listen to this band ... until now its awsome!!

  • CHINGONA VERSION

  • Sounds like a freakin country singer singin Sabbath. What's with the twanginess of his vocals. FUUUUCK, I wish people would stop doing this kinda crap. Do it right, or DON'T DO IT. Ur momma must be proud.

  • sexy song, sexy band

  • soooooooooooooo tight.............

  • garcia has such a beautiful voice :)

  • Soooo good:) Love Kyuss, QOTSA, Josh and Fatso Jetson.

  • this song is always so raw in the intro i love it. simple yet strong. it all fits so well together and flows. the song just makes sense and in no way is that wrong. this is a decent cover but the original will always remain my favorite simply out of respect for the mighty sabath. FUCKING METAL!!!! YEEEEAH GET SUUUUUUUUUM URGHHHH!!!!

  • Agree with creeperSKILL KYUSS r different GRAVY a one off!! but Soundgarden were the best band at their time (Listen to BAD MOTORFINGER) KYUSS blues for the red sun is the best debut album of all time in my world .....I never listened to nothing like that shit ever b 4!!!

  • @gazzac10 Uuuum yeah, except Blues For The Red Sun wasn't their debut album. They had two records before that.

  • @jambi880 I think U will find their first on a Major Label and not the one's recorded in the Desert or some half assed 50 dollar down town studio my friend !!!!

  • @gazzac10 Who cares what label it was on? They had two albums before Blues For The Red Sun, therefore it's not a debut album. End of.

  • @jambi880 GET A LIFE U LONELY PRICK!!!!

  • @gazzac10 I have a life. Part of it consists of knowing basic information about bands that I love. Maybe you should try it out.

  • @jambi880 U R 17 going on 21 live in yr bedroom and have no friends I'm guessing??? Listen mate I have seen Metallica Live over 20 fuckin times AC/DC Twice that amount and lived on LOVE/HATE The ALMIGHTY and SKID ROW's TOUR Buses ... SO Dont Fuckin speak to me about KYUSS U Prick I've met Josh and Garcia A couple of times and I play in A band myself.....so engulf your INFO/STATS and JOG ON U WANKER!!!!!!

  • @gazzac10 Hahaha wtf man? You are such a cocksucker. No one cares about what you claim to have done. Maybe you should have gone to school instead of living on a tour bus as Sebastian Bachs rent boy. That way you might know how to construct a sentence correctly. I'll speak about Kyuss as much as I want, because I can.

  • 6 dislike, they can't feel it. They will never feel it.

  • Check out the MONSTER-MAGNET version which sound completely different & FAR superior than this Prolonged JAM !!

    Kristina Kat

  • @kvq1999 Agree with U Monster Magnet R A special Band!! But Like Soungarden Metallica and so many more B 4 them they dont get what SABBATH were about .... BUT with KYUSS ... I think they pull it off in A modern way!!!

  • Soundgarden's cover has nothing new.. Garcia use HIS personal voice in this song.. Cornell's voice is just an imitation of Ozzy's.. Cover is not imitation, but reinterpretation.. And Kyuss definitely reinterpretate this, with their sound, their jams.. Kyuss >>> Soundgarden here.

  • @Axel89fi no, man... a cover of a song means to play a song by another band in your own way ! you can imitate the original singer's voice or not; you decide ! kyuss as you can see played "into the void" in their own way, you can just hear some improvisations made there from 3:37 ; Soundgarden on the other hand played "into the void" as they wanted and as the song originally was written, in order to sound well so they would enjoy it for themselves !

  • Just listened to Soundgarden's version. It's ok, but this one's better.

  • sounds better than sabbath....

  • got this on vinyl

  • Yes I'm aware of that, but equipment isn't the be all and end all of a sound, and deeper doesn't = heavier. Soundgarden's tempo is better paced, Chris's vox own Garcia's, and Thayil's solo owns Homme's. You know you agree with me.

  • @soundgardener i love both bands..cant pick..of course cris has better voice..

  • "That recording sucks balls, my vocals are horrible, it makes me sick to my stomach, I can't listen to it, I'm surprised we even released it"

    - Garcia re this cover.

Don't believe me? Search on YT for John Garcia-interview Diskant

I presonally like it, but reckon SG cover is better. All opinion really innit! But Garcia does help my point a bit.

  • Interesting comments. You muppets might want to watch the John Garia video where he says his vox on this are so bad it makes him sick to his stomach and he wishes it was never released...both awesome bands, but Soundgarden nailed this, they way they nailed all the covers they did, probably about 15-20. Christ do you guys really think the Kyuss version is HEAVIER? Syringe your ears.

  • @soundgardener

Uhh, dude. This is the best version of this song on the planet.

Chickity check yourself before you rectum.

  • @salladloot In your world, perhaps. It's all subjective. Personally, I'll take Soundgarden and Sabbath over this. The vocals and guitar(despite what amps are being used) are better, and there's no contest on drums. Matt Cameron blows all y'all away. In my opinion :-)

  • @ledzeppelin1975 I'll take Exhorder over this and soundgarden's. I'll take this over soundgarden's. I'll take Sabbath's over all the others. That being said I enjoy each version.

  • @ledzeppelin1975

Are you kidding? The bass and drums.. I don't think it's possible to get heavier than this.

    Someone might die.

  • @salladloot Yeah, I'm sure someone's gonna die over comments left on YouTube. Come get it, tough guy.

Anyone who thinks this version is heavier than the Soundgarden version has no concept of music.

As far as pure heaviness and bass, and kickass music....the Soundgarden cover wins flat out.

This is a pussy version in my opinion.

  • @ledzeppelin1975

Yeah?.. Well that's just like... your opinion, man.

I meant someone might die from listening to this, not from youtube comments, btw.

  • @salladloot Actually, that was your opinion from the comment you left on the Soundgarden version. I just cut and pasted it, switched Kyuss to Soundgarden, took out the inapplicable comment regarding Kyuss' vocals, and made a spelling correction. I personally don't like using words like "pussy" when discussing music.

  • @ledzeppelin1975

What spelling correction did you make? I kind of take pride in making grammatically proper posts.

    Oh yeah, and fuck Soundgarden.

  • @ledzeppelin1975 Reconsider your concept of music.. Soundgarden cover is a bad imitation. This version has different tuning, different time, different vocals.. It's a reinterpretation, and that's what a cover should be.. Everyone can imitate. I usually like cornell's voice, but in this song is just a very very bad imitation of ozzy's..

  • @Axel89fi Oh WOW!!! You know, you're RIGHT!!! Hell, I never looked at it THAT way!!! Thank god you came along and pointed out the deficiencies in my music conceptualization!!! Jesus CHRIST, I would have been preferring that horrible Soundgarden version and looking like an ass doing it were it not for your enlightening comment!!! THANK YOU SIR!!!! Thank you so much.....if only I knew how to repay you :-(

  • @soundgardener man the guitar is coming out of a base amp...of course its havier..

  • Better than the original, and much heavier. Bass is about to explode.

  • This is fuckin great. I love Kyuss.

  • Great version, but I don't know as we needed the overly long guitar solo/jam in the middle.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN that's the best part of the song.

  • The bass is better than the original

  • i like the original the best :D

  • @DontBeAPussy1 I don't know if that's true. I was around Frank and all those folks during the Man's Ruin Kyuss/Fumanchu days. I'd bet, though, that all the "sludge" bands are 70's influenced as well as 80's punk. I mean, shit, you can't argue that Fumanchu turned "Godzilla" into the song it should have been from the start...

  • i heard that the kyuss guys dint really care much for sabbath when they started. that is, they weren't massively influenced by them, their main influences were black flag and the like. the only reason they did this cover was that the guy from man's ruin records (the label that released the ep) was interested to hear their version of into the void. can anyone confirm this?!

(for the record, this shit is heavy)

  • Exhorder version is the best

  • @kane555444 exhorder version is no jam and more copy

  • @yovioleatuzorramadre Probally cause Exhorder is talented :/

  • @kane555444 and yes, they made a COPY of it, 0 jam, 0 improvisation, 0 experimentation, 0 creativity, that is "talented"? never in this world.

Exhorder is gay, Kyuss rocks, this version is better, specially because of the ending jam and bass, deal with it.

  • As I can see, 5 people got some serious problem. Probably their mothers had to sit down while giving a childbirth.

  • Awwwww. Kyuss are so fuckin' special!!!!

  • I'm a **HUGE** Sabbath fan [as u all should be] since forever. I've gotta say, holy crap, anytime somebody comes close to owning a Tony Iommi riff, HOLY CRAP!!! :DDDDDDD

    I approve

  • louder and crunchier guitars doesn't equal heavier, to me this is the definitive cover

  • If you like Kyuss,Sabbath,Ministry etc.Check out my version!!!!

  • Listen to Exhorder's version of this. its heavier.

  • @cptgaryklein

    Heavier, yeaa

    Better? naah

  • headbanging!

  • I prefer the epic guitar sound and amazing drums/vocals/bass of the Soundgarden cover. But this cover is great as well!

  • sacred reich does the best cover of WAR PIGS ever

  • I'm a douche. This just wasn't that good. Are they a garage band? Then yeah, they did a good job. Might go somewhere. Tongue in cheek. It is not without it's charms however. Rock on.

  • @williamwelker2 Kyuss wasnt a garage band, they were a stoner rock band. And they wont go anywhere anymore since theyve split up and formed other bands such as queens of the stone age and other bands. Theyre doing a reunion tour in 2011 though. Check out the "Welcome to Sky vally" album.

  • this isnt worth 5 stars

    id give it four

and im a fan of both bands

  • no;, I'm very well!!! ;P

  • john garcia hates this version...shame I like it anyway!

  • I don't care what ya rated this song, you're a DOUCHE CANOE

  • @treywhite70 DOUCHE CANOE LMAO!

  • Very good cover of the genius that is Black Sabbbath!

    like it alot!

one of the best cover tracks I have ever heard is

Tool's version of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin

  • @RossHolt6 dude ur my hero. so. so true..

  • @RossHolt6 That's is the fucking truth if I've ever heard it

Also; Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt by NIN

  • @RossHolt6 What about Crowbar's version of No Quarter?

  • @RossHolt6 ya man

  • @RossHolt6 ya man

  • If you think this sucks, then probably you consider Justin Bieber a musician.

(to me he's just a modern castrati).

  • @ruibarbosta agree entirely. his balls haven't descended yet

  • Does anyone know what album this is from?

  • @elninobrown

It's from the Kyuss / Queens of the Stone Age double album

  • @6john6doe6 Thanks. Ever heard the Exhorder version ? Badd ass!!

  • Where is this from? CD? MP3 site?

  • @longslidenyc from the split EP with QOTSA

  • \m/ <3 \m/

  • cool cover. mad respect to Homme, Bjork and Garcia.

  • @mikexlong respect to bjork shame he didnt do this version i believe it was Fredo.

  • @peterchilds1 fuck, my bad.

  • Badass tune

  • No cover is better than the original. It has to be judged on it's own merit and one vital question has to be answered---Does it pay homage to the original? The answer here is HELL YEAH baby! Kyuss took an immortal tune, injected thier own brand of sludge into it and made a cover that Tony Iommi is listening to right now as we speak and nodding his head in approval! Awesome post dude.

  • i think, Black Sabbath cover of "Warning" ist better than the original

  • @petrus94 Black Sabbath is the exception to every rule.

  • @petrus94 there be cover without the original,

  • @smacman68 Hendrix's All Along the Watchtowers is better than the original. And many will prefer Clapton's version of Cocaine. But yeah, nobody has bettered any Sabs songs that I know of.

  • @smacman68 I Think Kyuss' version sounds better than Sabbath's but only cuz it came 25 years later... Sabbath pioneered this type of slow, tuned down, bass heavy rockin, but you have to expect some improvement on it after 25 years, and Kyuss, being the greatest heavy band of all time, made it heavier.

  • This is a great cover. Even though I usually love the part when the songs speeds up, I think what they did was actually pretty good

  • Kyuss is the BEST !

  • Great fucking cover right here! Kyuss is great, Sabbath is Great, and sludge/doom/stoner metal is great. PeAcE>

  • Comment removed

  • just ordered the album <3

  • This cover is better than the original!

  • damn right! :)

  • the SOLO blows Iommi away , far far far away

  • @mudfly3 nothing blows iommi: away good cover...

  • @ChaosTitties but Iommi´s solo is soo standard and boring but josh´s is much weirder and funny, more interesting

  • @mudfly3 A solo can be funny? Wow i want your ears.

  • @ChaosTitties of course you want my ears, they´re great you know

  • I don't know which is better overall, but the vocals are way better on the Kyuss version...less nasally.
