I am aware of the repressions during Stalin's regime, but even this regime and its industrialization and rearmament of the country played an essential part in allowing for the successful defense against Nazi aggression... The topic of this video is World War II and the victory against fascism, I am more than willing to discuss Soviet history though if you like.

@Seizurecow What are these "agreements" you claim every other country signed with Germany? You omit the fact that the Soviet Union conspired with the German Nazi government to attack Poland. Furthermore, the Stalin agreed to actively assist the Germans by guiding their destroyers through the Arctic Sea in order to sink British merchant shipping. Had Germany not attacked it, the USSR would have happily continued to assist Germany as a friend and ally.

I am pretty sure the Germans and Soviets signed a pact so they could have time to build up their armies so they could eventually fight one another.

I believe that in the time between 1939 and the German invasion of 1941 the Soviets were able to move valuable manufacturing equipment to the east, where it would be less likely to be destroyed or captured by the Germans.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe you. The Nazis were ideologically opposed to communism. In fact, the German Communist Party and the German Socialist party were the first to be destroyed after Hitler took power.
Furthermore, the Nazi ideology was very racialized; the Nazis believed that the lesser races of Europe, including the Slavs of Eastern Europe, had to be eliminated or at least subjugated.
The Soviets knew this, and they therefore would not have helped the Nazis.

The Hitler-Stalin responsibility for deaths comparison relates to peace time, not war-time when large numbers of deaths are inevitable.
You cannot stipulate that we should only count peace-time deaths. When discussing how many men Hitler killed, it is necessary to include the number of killed in the Second World War, especially because he started the war.
Furthermore, Stalin only worked with the West when he had no other choice. After the war the Soviets conducted very little trade with the West, and traveling to the West was not allowed.

At any rate, by 1945, the Soviets were giving the Germans a good and proper schooling in how to properly use tanks and infantry offensively, not the other way around like 1941-42.

An invasion of russia back then would mean total air and sea supieriority, and the soviets had supeior fighter planes than we did. We would have naval supremecy only for soviet air strikes to cripple ground forces.(This is not including nato or the warsaw pact, also pre-60's era.)

I'm sorry, but I don't believe you. The Nazis were ideologically opposed to communism. In fact, the German Communist Party and the German Socialist party were the first to be destroyed after Hitler took power.
Furthermore, the Nazi ideology was very racialized; the Nazis believed that the lesser races of Europe, including the Slavs of Eastern Europe, had to be eliminated or at least subjugated.
The Soviets knew this, and they therefore would not have helped the Nazis.

Deaths are inevitable in any war and therefore must be considered separately to those committed internally when judging any regime.

@TalonMercenary The whole 'one gets a rifle, one gets ammo' thing is Hollywood bullshit. The reason they had such heavy losses was the disorganisation early in the war, before the Red Army recovered from losing so much of its leadership.
At any rate, by 1945, the Soviets were giving the Germans a good and proper schooling in how to properly use tanks and infantry offensively, not the other way around like 1941-42.

An invasion of russia back then would mean total air and sea supieriority, and the soviets had supeior fighter planes than we did. We would have naval supremecy only for soviet air strikes to cripple ground forces.(This is not including nato or the warsaw pact, also pre-60's era.)

The Russians have the right to claim the bulk of the credit for defeating Nazi Germany. They faced more than 80 percent of the strength of the German army from 1941 through the summer of 1944, by which time there was no way Germany could win the war anyway. The main U.S. contribution was sending food and supplies to help the Soviet war effort.
The U.S. can make the same claim in its struggle with Japan. The U.S. faced down--and defeated--the best forces Japan had to offer.
