Might as well say every healthcare professional that is not a doctor is a med school reject. Nurses, PAs, dentists, optometrists. Let's see the healthcare system function when everyone is a MD and no one is dispensing the actual drug.

@phillz123 Pharmacists are doctors! They get a doctor of pharmacy degree. Your question should be why be a pharmacist when you could be a physician? to answer your question, pharmacists are needed because they are experts of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of all the drugs out there, most of which physicians are not aware of it.

@mikoula2002 PK is a course in medical school. So yes, physicians are "aware of it"; they just don't specialize in it like pharmacists do.

@phillz123 i work in a hospital with docs, trust me if they didn't have a pharmacist around or atleast pharmacy literature, then more than half of those patients would have died already...catch deadly mistakes everyday, theyre also the worst dickheads with attitude when you catch their mistakes. However there are nice ones out there...far in outer space!
