hay thats cool! its quite easy to get old games to work on vista. and if the game is a dos game like doom,then it will work on vista just fine.(thanks to dosbox we can play old dos games on vista!) love dosbox! but it looks like you didn't use dosbox here...so that great that you found away around it!
@zlim751 Well if you're wondering why it wouldn't work is because you are using a more modern computer. So there is the Dosbox which is a emulator where you can run it but it can be tricky because you have to type in codes to install and run the game.
my vista aint run it because.... it says that the program (DOS)aint work on full screen, and doom needs to run on full screen.. so... it is fucked up, I cant play doom on my vista
Some of the stuff for DOOM95 requires more DLLs,google those to get more stuff for DOOM95 to work.DLLs such downloaded include: TCP/IP play (For vista sometimes),Windowed mode,Doomworld has a fixed DOOMLNCH.dll that allows you to record demos correctly.
u only need Dplay.dll if u get the "Dplay.dll error message" when u try to start the game. but if the game works fine when u open it up,your laughing :))) some vista users hav this problem,but i didnt coz the file was alredy there:))) good luk. gotta love the double barrel shotty, my fav..
theres a answer for that and it will work i had to do this for my verison of doom what you do is you take the dll file and drag and drop onto your game then once you do that press accept or what ever it says beileve me it works
Okay, so does the Dplay.dll file have the game itself? Or is it a pach to make the game work on Vista? Because the file I downloaded only hase one file, the game it'self I do not know. But, I'll keep working on it.
no, sorry Dplay.dll is just an extension 4 some vista users. U can only download the shareware version of doom from the net which contains the first episode only,just google it. i downloaded the full game off "limewire" program.good luk oh and yay 4 us.

just type in "DPLAY.dll download" in google and it will come up. it doesn't need 2 be installed.if its a zipped file,just unzip and place in your doom folder. lol, yay 4 us.
I'm not sure how he got this to work just as plain Doom, but you can google "ZDoom" and use that as the replacement engine. Just copy the WADS to your zdoom folder and presto, DOOM!!!
Very cool, I have Vista too on my lap top and I am having trouble getting Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 to play on it. Thanks for proving that doom can in fact play on Windows Vista

Its really not that hard. You just used Doom 95 which has relatively little tweaks needed to run on new systems.

omg if you download the game and is said you need a dll error just Google dll download and drag the folder into the doom folder and it will work

So I got a game sorta like doom. Marathon 2.
And it give me the DPlay.Dll error.
I downloaded dplay.dll. Its sitting in my desktop. Doing nothing. And the error still appears...

Doom95 will work on any Vista release. You just need to configure the compatibility of it.
As I'm working this part out now I can't share with you any more info.
Or you can try to find a re-release that will work on Vista with no tweaking.
