The Tunnel of Love reminded me of the game: Sam n Max Hit the road. I love how the humour translated well into the cartoon. It was one of the more successful and true to the original game to cartoons. Can't say the same about the Legend of Zelda cartoon, lol. :P

There is some continuity in this episode at 0:28. In the Hit the Road game, Sam stated Max had a metal plate on his head. Seems like Max still has some magnetism on himself. Great work on finding this.
