Just a comment: Have the person who is in charge of the ISRA YouTube channel make the ISRA logo the channel profile picture. That way, when someone subscribes to the channel, the ISRA logo will appear in the subscriptions. It's just another way to promote the organizations. The NRA does that and if you look in my Channel, you will see the NRA log listed as one of my subscriptions. Just a small thing but it is good for prmoting the organization.
@ghett0superstar Sorry for taking so long to reply. I think it really depends on how for you live from the ISRA range. I live too far to make it worthwhile. (It's about a 1 to 1 1/2 hour drive each way.) I don't know too much about the ISRA range because I have only been there on special days when it's open to the public but I'm sure it's nice. I have taken my grandchildren to Buffalo Rock but they are charging too much now, IMO. Some say it isn't safe but I had no problems there.
As an ISRA member, I have a gripe. For several years, my daughters have tried to register my grandchildren for the ISRA youth shooting camp. Each year they call the number provided in The Illinois Shooter but nobody ever bothers to return their calls. The ISRA is not only blowing a chance to introduce children to the shooting sports, but they are also missing a chance to encourage their parents to get involved too. Someone should talk to whoever handles the registration for such events.
I've been an ISRA member for years. I hate to say this but each year when I renew my membership, I do so reluctantly because I have found the ISRA to be very non-responsive to members such as myself. My questions and concerns have gone unanswered and even my offers to volunteer my time and services to help make the ISRA a better organization have been ignored. A reponse I received from Richard clearly revealed that he didn't bother to read my question. I'm disappointed in the ISRA.
I want to add to my previous message I have contacted the ISRA several times with important suggestions and offers to help. In most cases, nobody replied at all. When they did, as I said, it was obvious that the person who responded (especially Richard) didn't even read my suggestion. It was actually insulting! I am a Life member of the ISRA, a member of the ISRA, Gun Owners of America, and the 1st Amendment Foundation. I will probably drop my ISRA membership this year.
I meant to say I was a Life Member of the NRA. BTW, if I'm not mistaken, the ISRA once used the name of a defunct gun control group illegally and they were sued. I may be wrong, but I think the result was that our membership dues ended up going to the gun control group when the ISRA lost the case. I may be wrong about this, though. If anyone is interested, do an Internet search. If true, that's very poor leadership, to put it mildly.
I've had similar experiences. I was at a ISRA event recently and a guy who said he was an officer of the club followed me around all day, lecturing me about stuff I knew more about than he did. I was shooting before the obnoxious jerk was born! At one point, he pointed out (correctly) that our FOID cards are silly.
.... (continued)...then, he expressed outrage that the Buffalo Range (Utica) doesn't require a FOID to shoot there. Apparently he didn't notice that the ISRA range doesn't require one either!!! That's all we need!... ISRA officers bashing the few places we have to shoot in Illinois. Many of us live too far from ISRA ranges. We have to stick together! Other than that, I have found the ISRA to be unresponsive to questions I have had too. It's a shame.
It's damn time we get concealed carry in Illinois!!!

Thank you Richard for all you and the ISRA do for gun rights in Illinois.
