Yeah.....VK bands have a wide range of style in music and image...they can be dark or colourful, maybe heavy metal with some moans and growls to popish techno sound. They wear costumes, normal look that could be rockerish, or just mix and matching! LAYERS!!! Heh...harajuku style!

It's true that VK bands don't play VK music but they play Vrock, As example why whe call it Jrock? they might be punk, trash , heavy etc. or it's because they are japanesse? no way.. Visual Kei = japanese fashion + japanese music. The genre ranges from pop to metal. sometimes both. There is no definite description for modern music,including america music.

What they wear is of their free will,as long as they create a visual image.

People,we have our own perspectives. It's the best to keep the comments to ourselves.No point having a controversy over what is visual K as if u're a big shot.

Visual Kei is in fact neither a style neither a genre of music. It is simply a type of band. Just like the name indicates it, Visual Kei is a type of band wich creates a visual image with an eccentric appearance.

They often play but is not limited to a few roots of rock. And if you say that a few VK bands sounds similar well it's simple. It might either be inspiration or of course because of the major labels like everywhere else.

I mean I wonder what kind of music it could be when VK bands play music that can sound exactly like metal, hardcore, punk, rock, pop, trance, hip-hop, electronica and so on.

I also like a few VK bands but you should seriously open your eyes, it is simply a type of band and it doesn't make it bad.

I'm sorry for the absence and I'm sorry but I would like to know what band actually stated that. Also the fact that lot of people might think so doesn't mean that it is right.

Take for example lots of kids claim that simple plan is punk, does it mean that it's true? And are you sure that you should claim that everyone would be against me? If you are sure that VK is a music genre, couldn't you describe it? If not why are you so sure?

@xXxUsedxXx a band example that call themselves visual kei would be The GazettE, read their interviews. your right, by just listening to the music of a vk band you wouldn't be able to tell they're visual kei, you might just think their jrock. but what about glam rock? basiclly the european visual kei, right. people consider that a music gerne even though they don't sound any different from other rock bands. same goes with garage rock. called that cause they play in garages, but cause of sound.

Yeah The GazettE are definitely VK. But if you're claiming that they claim that they play a genre called VK could you please show me that interview? And yeah, VK is inspired by Glam Rock. And VK bands can't possibly play nothing but a single genre? I mean look at LM.C, Versailles and The Piass. Do you really think that they play the same genre of music even if they're all VK bands?
