kind of ironic how dsp asks how they are gonna incorporate characters like thor, captain amercia, and hawkeye when soon they all get movies (except hawkeye who is in the actual avengers). Though he is so sure about spiderman and they dont include him.

IronMan2 actually followed the comics very well. If you read the comics for iron man, you'd understand how well it follows the comics. Sure the first one was a better pop culture introduction to people who weren't familiar and for those who were familiar with the series. But the second one was more of a comic fan's movie, than for people who were fans of the first movie.
Plus, Tony had a alchohol problem in comics. He's also extremely cocky in the comics dude..

It deffo was not as good as the first one but I disagree about Sam Rockwell. I thought he was great in it and the film would have been worse off without him. Also, they are planning to make the Thor film (which was hinted at post-credits) before the Avengers film.

One of the things I loved the most about this movie was how there was not a ton of action. When I go back and watch the spiderman trilogy, there is like a whole hour of action in each movie, which gets kind of boring. In iron man 2, however, they kept the action short and sweet. Missed out on the Mjolnir at the end of the credits. Shit was dope. Also Marvel studios said they are officially making a Thor movie, then a capt. america movie, then bringing everyone together (Iron-man, Hulk [maybe], Capt A, and Thor) for an Avengers movie.

Seriously though, even though there was alot of explosions and effects in the climax of this movie (much more than the 1st), I still feel like the director doesn't really know how to create good comic book action sequences. It felt like the Transformers movies where you didn't know what the hell was going on half the time.
If you stayed until the ending credits finished, there was an extra scene where Fury finds Thor's hammer in a crater hinting that Thor will be in the next movie. Thor is the Norse god of thunder for people who don't know. :)

The Avengers film is confirmed for 2012, darksidephyl. They anounced that after Iron Man 1 was done. There's going to be the Thor film coming out next year, then after that in 2012 is "The First Avenger: Captain America" which will star the actor who portrayed Human Torch in the Fantastic 4 films. All is confirmed, saw it all on marvel's website, as well as Wizard. These Marvel films are all leading up to the Avengers film.

I definitely appreciated this review, you ought do more.
Notes about the movie for me was that I agree with their choice in villians, like the whole thing with the first movie was more of a reference to the Armor Wars mini-series they've done over the years where some asshole tries to over on Stark's Iron Man designs and junk. The second movie with Whiplash is interesting because before the movie was announced, a mini-series "Iron Man vs. Whiplash" was released.
But with that in mind, the villians were certainly tertiary at best and I agree they could've gone with the Mandarin or someone who has fought Iron Man many times over.I also find it really annoying that 1.) they replaced the actor who played Colonel Rhodes, that's just annoying when they recast in the middle of a series, and I don't ever feel like Don Cheadle is someone I think of when I think of action.
And 2.) Nerd mode, I hate how every recent Marvel adaptation has featured a combination of ultimate universe references and 616 references. Namely, this movie and the Marvel Super Squad series that both use the Ultimate Universe Nick Fury but have all the other characters be those from the 616 Universe. Again, just another stupid example of Hollywood trading in continuity for star power.
You really don't read movie news do you Phil(no offense intended), X-Men and Spider-Man CANNOT be in Avengers movie. Avengers comes out 2012 with Hulk supposedly as the villain. Captain America and Thor are coming in 2011. And after the credits there is a brief appearance of Thor's hammer. I liked Iron man 2 alot, But I thought Iron Monger from the first film was a way better villain than Whiplash. Black Widow IMO needs her own spin-off. I hope Iron Man 3 has The Mandarin as the villain.

Robert Downey Jr was interviewed by Howard stern a couple days ago and Downey Jr said hes signed on for two more movies The Avengers and Iron man 3. I don't know what order they are debuting but it will be interesting. Also someone probably already said this but they have thor's hammer in a scene at the end of the credits.

If you stayed through the credits you see a bonus scene where the SHIELD agent that was babysitting Stark left to take care of some business in New Mexico and he arrives at this crater and you see Thors hammer, so Thor is gonna be the next Marvel movie.

When I told him that for 60% of the movie Tony Stark is useless with no action at all, they said "Well that was in the comic book." But they don't understand that there were only 3 fight scenes.

If you stayed until the ending credits finished, there was an extra scene where Fury finds Thor's hammer in a crater hinting that Thor will be in the next movie. Thor is the Norse god of thunder for people who don't know. :)

The Avengers film is confirmed for 2012, darksidephyl. They anounced that after Iron Man 1 was done. There's going to be the Thor film coming out next year, then after that in 2012 is "The First Avenger: Captain America" which will star the actor who portrayed Human Torch in the Fantastic 4 films. All is confirmed, saw it all on marvel's website, as well as Wizard. These Marvel films are all leading up to the Avengers film.

I definitely appreciated this review, you ought do more.
Notes about the movie for me was that I agree with their choice in villians, like the whole thing with the first movie was more of a reference to the Armor Wars mini-series they've done over the years where some asshole tries to over on Stark's Iron Man designs and junk. The second movie with Whiplash is interesting because before the movie was announced, a mini-series "Iron Man vs. Whiplash" was released.

But with that in mind, the villians were certainly tertiary at best and I agree they could've gone with the Mandarin or someone who has fought Iron Man many times over.I also find it really annoying that 1.) they replaced the actor who played Colonel Rhodes, that's just annoying when they recast in the middle of a series, and I don't ever feel like Don Cheadle is someone I think of when I think of action.

And 2.) Nerd mode, I hate how every recent Marvel adaptation has featured a combination of ultimate universe references and 616 references. Namely, this movie and the Marvel Super Squad series that both use the Ultimate Universe Nick Fury but have all the other characters be those from the 616 Universe. Again, just another stupid example of Hollywood trading in continuity for star power.

You really don't read movie news do you Phil(no offense intended), X-Men and Spider-Man CANNOT be in Avengers movie. Avengers comes out 2012 with Hulk supposedly as the villain. Captain America and Thor are coming in 2011. And after the credits there is a brief appearance of Thor's hammer. I liked Iron man 2 alot, But I thought Iron Monger from the first film was a way better villain than Whiplash. Black Widow IMO needs her own spin-off. I hope Iron Man 3 has The Mandarin as the villain.

Best scenes in Iron Man 2 was Black Widow tbh.
Iron Man 1 teased about Shield and an avengers thing and I was like "Oh hells yes, hope they do it in IM2". Watched IM2 and was like disappointed.

Robert Downey Jr was interviewed by Howard stern a couple days ago and Downey Jr said hes signed on for two more movies The Avengers and Iron man 3. I don't know what order they are debuting but it will be interesting. Also someone probably already said this but they have thor's hammer in a scene at the end of the credits.

Instead of calling it Iron Man...they ought to call it Comedian Man! This movie is average low cheesy at best. A lot of scripted jokes which take away from the seriousness of what a SUPPOSEDLY HARD ROCK SOLID IRON MAN supposed to be be. This movie is overrated by the trailer. In fact, i think a lot of movies have been overrated and audience have been fooled into watching it due to hype...this is one of the movies. Nothing special about this movie...it's cheesy with some babes throwing in.

If you stayed through the credits you see a bonus scene where the SHIELD agent that was babysitting Stark left to take care of some business in New Mexico and he arrives at this crater and you see Thors hammer, so Thor is gonna be the next Marvel movie.

@darksydephil: I completely agree with you on your opinion of Iron Man 2. I tried to explain to my friends yesterday why I was let down with this movie. When I told him that for 60% of the movie Tony Stark is useless with no action at all, they said "Well that was in the comic book." But they don't understand that there were only 3 fight scenes.
The first fight scene only had Tony Stark rolling around on pavement. And Whiplash died in like 2 minutes at the final fight scene. I agree w/you DSP!!
