Wow-Stevie wrote this? I would have to say that he is the Star of India on the crown jewels of Motown! Mr. Incredible...Stevie, you are a wonder-of the world!
What a great emotional track by one of the true masters of Motown they just don't make music like this anymore, Amy winehouse recently put the motown style of music back on the map, please check out the stevie wonder & Amy winehouse mash up mix its great- Shame these two amazing vocalist never done an official duet
Leave it to Stevie to write "filler" that becomes one of Aretha's greatest hits! The note at the end of each line (that Aretha turned into a chord in her version) sounds so powerful in the original! I like it more each time I listen.
I only knew the Aretha version, but I'm in love with this one now. Damn, he sure knows how to write incredible songs. Love the emotion in his voice on this one.
Much respect for Stevie Wonder in writing this classic tune. However, I love Aretha Franklin's version the best! Check out Miki Howard's version as well! You'll be blown away! =)
@deeway1963 have you seen miki howard's unsung? after i watched it i was trying to figure out if it was her that saw on the vi for her remake. if you haven't seen it it is up here on youtube
this is one of my favorite songs since it pours out the pain of a broken heart once it has been rejected and the other party does'nt care anymore or don't wanna listen to pleas or explanations no matter how sincere they might be.
My wife is a wonderful woman! Out of non communication between us, out of hurt and frustration, I said things I did not mean in my heart, but were said none the less and they hurt her. All I wanted was for her to come home!
I like this version of this song although Aretha Franklin did it. I have this song on the "Looking Back" the anthology album. I got that album so many times because I played it so much.
Love this song it's so seventies and the renditions and versions are so diverse!! The only other version I ever heard was Ruby Turner! I had never heard Aretha sing it, WHERE WAS i !?LOL!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVIE! I love you forever, A shout out to Calvin and to Maurice who've been such loving brothers. A shout out to your entire family, all the children. Happy birthday. i LOVE YOU FOREVER, Amir Chela, the photographer from DC
@peterzang It's not hard to take someone's song and improve the production., especially when you add the greatest female singer in history to it...but trust me, without Stevie's genious, there wouldn't be an Aretha version...It wasn't a demo, it was definately the real thing...They were only using the best equipment they could get their hands on at that time in history.
I love both singers, (I even listen to Stevie Wonder on my iPod at the gym), but Aretha's voice is in another galaxy compared to anyone else. So I have to give the nod to Lady Soul.
Correct! Stevie recorded it in 1967 but Barry Gordy did a misstep and never released it. So Stevie "gave" it to Aretha in 1973. Though you don't call anymore
I sit and wait in vain
I guess I'll rap on your door
Tap on your window pane
I want to tell you Baby
The changes I've been going through
Missing you.
Listen you
'till you come back to me
That's what I'm gonna do
adler474 9 months ago 2
Why did you have to decide
You had to set me free
I'm gonna swallow my pride
I'm gonna beg you to (please baby please) see me
I'm gonna walk by meself
Just to prove that my love is true
Oh, for you baby
'till you come back to me
That's what I'm gonna do

Living for you my dear
Is like living in a world of constant fear
In my plea, I've got to make you see
That our love is dying

Although your phone you ignore
Somehow I must explain
I'm gonna rap on your door
Tap on your window pane
I'm gonna camp on your step
Until I get through to you
I've got to change your view baby
'till you come back to me
That's what I'm gonna do
