Morrissey has always, very astutely, illustrated the difference between patriotism & nationalism. How can people listen to a song like this & then accuse him of being a flag waving racist?
Only an Englishman, and one of this calibre, could deride Britain so comprehensively as this. Nationalism, Colonialism, Patriotism, and all the other sad BS that has scarred the National psyche is so beautifully and elliptically lampooned here.
for some reason this has to be one my favourite morrissey songs,..mind you there are so so many.
