Eric, Can any Manufacture of a locomotive run on any type of track? Like a Lionel Loco running on MTH track, or an Atlas Loco running on Lionel track?
@james1234434 Yes. O-Gauge is O-Gauge, regardless of who makes it. Any O-Gauge trains can run on any O-Gauge train and even the trains themselves can be a mixture of brands. They use the same size wheels and the same size couplers so they are all compatible with each other.
As an electrician, I can tell you a way out of this...a bank of switches, one switch for each spur. This way, you only need to turn on whatever engine your running :-)
not if u don't want engine on (need repairs or coventional). try using a rheostat for the speed of the turntable. spins WAY too fast. we noticed that right away w/ ours
I can see your point. For my purposes, thought, it doesn't affect me and I like have any engine at my beckon call whenever I fancy taking it for a spin. :) I haven't had any trouble with the speed of the turntable. I give it about 12 volts AC and it works fine for me.
thats cool. it shook our engines everytime it stopped and started. so we wanted it to be more prototypical. it would be nice if it didn't have to stop at every track but at least u don't have to line them up haha. i'll probably post a video soon on ours so stay posted!
Something to be known about MTH's engines. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Eric is running his yellow UP on the turntable, while the others are off and idle. Even though they are idle, all of their chronometers are still adding up since power is applied to them. This is a major glitch on MTH's part if this is the case.
Yes, you are right. However, I don't really feel that this is a "glitch". The engine is an active engine on my layout, so in my opinion that time should be logged in the Chronometer. Are you worried about this because it might effect resale value? I'm not really buying these things for resale value. If I want resale value, I will buy some gold. :)
That TRUELY is a matter of opinion...some buy them to run, others buy them and take great care of them thinking they may sell them later, and others buy to strictly collect.
Everyone has an opinion on collecting vs. operating. But back to the chronometer thing, I still think that if the train is on a powered track then that time should be logged. That way, if another person buys the train from you down the road they will know by the chronometer reading that the train wasn't just sitting in the box the whole time. It would help to prevent a dishonest seller from claiming the the train has never been out of the box when, in fact, it has.
Very Nice engine roster and video. Thanks for sharing. I am building a layout with Atlas O track now. (See NEP&SF) Can the Atlas turntable be made to run continuous or must it stop at each stall?
It's designed to stop at each stall, so making it not stop at each stall would mean physically altering the gearing system. I like the fact that it stops at each stall. It makes it easier since you don't have to manually try to get the tracks lined up. When it stops at each stall, it's automatically lined up.
oh and u should make a vid of ur BNSF SD70ACe because that would b awesome. plus i wanna hear the sound set since i want 1. oh, i just thought o this, if u set the power lower, will the turntable run slower?
would a Lionel PRR t-1 duplex work on an atlas turntable its 27" front to coupler

How does anybody afford a turntable they're like a thousand bucks
drumkid330 11 months ago
@drumkid330 The Atlas turntable was $179 when I bought it.
esiegel76 11 months ago
@drumkid330 Judging from the set of locos sitting around the turntable, I'd say this man has sufficient funds for it.

Is it possible to use Super O Track with these turntables?

Probably, but I wouldn't know for sure.

Does the atlas turntable work with lionel's fastrack?
hoscaletrains500 2 years ago
It works best with atlas track, but I'm sure you could make it work with fasttrack with some adjustments.

usofmeric 2 years ago
No, I didn't.

do you need a shim

i bought mine at my local train store

I would have bought one, but the ony turntable they had was a hand operated N scale turntable, and I use HO
thatguyoverthere45 2 years ago
where can you buy one of these?
HaloHedgehog22 2 years ago
Any Atlas O dealer, or you can also buy it through Atlas' website.
esiegel76 2 years ago
thanks. does mth make any? just curious because thats what i use.
HaloHedgehog22 2 years ago
MTH does not make a turntable. There are few other companies that make em, but Atlas makes the most affordable version.
esiegel76 2 years ago
Or eBay

That might work, but it sorta defeats the whole purpose of digital command control...in my opinion.

Will this work with Lionel track? (Not Fastrack, but regular O track)
PercyIsAwesomeness93 3 years ago
So when you plug in your power source and give the layout its continuous power, do all the locomotives on the turntable light up?
AmtrakSilverMeteor 3 years ago
no they don't, he's using DCS, from what I can see
Broncort1 3 years ago
correct.
esiegel76 3 years ago
can this be run with DCS as an "accessory"?
Broncort1 3 years ago
I'm not really sure, as I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to DCC. Sorry.

Would this turntable work with Lionel Fastrack? Was thiniking about getting one.
gcarr1979 3 years ago
I have no idea. You could probably rig it to work with it I'm sure. But it's designed to work with Atlas track by default.

Great looking trains! One question, do all of your locomotives run off of 1 remote? or do they all require their own remotes?
hoscaletrains500 3 years ago
They all operating off 1 remote.

I'll add a video of the BNSF engine soon. Yes, if you set the power lower, it will turn slower.

cool! does the turntable always operate in such a jerky motion, or can it be tuned to run at a more prototypical speed cuz im thinkin bout buyin one
