* Rex occupies the 16x16 at 3A8, and the 32x32 at 38A.

* Thwomps occupy the 16x32 at 38E, and the 32x16 at 3C8.

* Their GFX tiles therefore don't intersect. Banzai Bill, on the other hand, intersects with many castle enemies including the Thwomp.

As people have already said but I'll say it again cause I'm lazy to go through the comments and see if it was said. To have thwomps and Rexs in the same level you just use ExGFX and put thwomps and rexs on the same sheet.

Usually it glitches the sprites; try it! You have to screw with map16 to make it work.

In Super Mario World hacking, there are different "sprite sets" Basically putting all sprites in the game in different groups. Like, if you use the "castle" sprite set, you can use Thwomps and Thwimps, "Ghost House" uses boos and eeries, etc.  Rexes and Thwomps are never in the same sprite group, and shouldn't be in a level together.

'Tis easy, he just created an ExGFX file, which had the Thwomp graphics AND the rex graphics (which are changed anyway) at the same time. They do not conflict, so it would be completely possible.

Lunar Magic (Mario Level hacking software) works with Sprite sets, you cannot have multiple sprite sets on one level.
