@TheStanbabe Thank you for mentioning the name of the actor who played the disgruntled and 'poisoned' customer. I simply love The Little Rascals, and after 75 years, this short still rocks.
The cop in the scene was James C. Morton, who was in a lot of Laurel and Hardy bits and The Three Stooges shorts. Great acting voice and foil for the best in comedy. Johnson! Johnson!
what is wrong with ppl it was nothig racial about these flicks they are simply the greatest, its a shame our kids today missed out on such genuine kid comedys
Thoughtful comment. Of course the only rational criterion by which to judge any past work of comedy is not "21st century standards," but whether it makes you laugh or not. Thanks for writing, Taz.
This was one of my all time favorites of the Little Rascals. My younger brother and I would laugh so hard as kids after school every time we saw it. Especially at the cop when he says "Oh, so you're poisoning people eh?" 30 years later, we still laugh at it. I hope the young people of today get to see these episodes and have as many laughs as we did! Thanks for sharing it - brought back the laughs and the memories!
Unfortunately the young people of today wont get to enjoy the laughs we had as kids. From what I read this series was removed from TV because some of the content tword the black characters of the show was considered racially demeaning by todays standards. In the past ethnic humor was always the root of comedy , I wish that people could just sit and enjoy a good laugh instead of being a bunch babies. You can't judge TV shows that were made in the 1920's & 1930's by 21st century standards.
It was removed from TV due to many of the still-living Rascals suing for royalties back in the 1980s. Most of the episodes did not contain racial humor, and if they did, those scenes could have been edited out. I bought the Cabin Fever VHS tapes years ago of the series, and my kids love them.
This short emanated from the boilerplate that was used for 'For Pete's Sake', in which William Wagner and Leonard Kilbrick played father-and-son entrepreneurs of a toy store. In this short, they are father-and-son lemonade entrepreneurs.
This used to be one of my favorite episodes. That freckled kid in the beginning used to piss me off.
