@chevelle454ss1 eh, push rod engines are not always the best. They are limited by gravity. It will get to a point where the engine can not rotate any faster. So for EFI modern day track cars (with forced inducted additives) push rods may not be the way to go. Great for off roading tho! Btw, chevy over ford any day, lol. :-)
@jmatt145 Naw, I tune cars as my second job. The nissan ka24de I4 can engine can make a car run 12s and 13s. They have a wide power/torque band, long connecting rods, and as you tune the engine, the torque stays with/above the hp ratings. The 01 altimas have the same engine, compression, cam timing, and gear ratios as the 240sx s14 and the s15. So with "minor" or "beginner" upgrades, it is possible...
He must didn't have a helmet or something to do what he's doing with the braking. If the car breaks are time and you don't have a helmet, say goodbye to your track day.
did the GTO break??? i know for a fact the GTO has a faster acceleration then the 6.0 GT auto.. and besides the GTO is a POS, bigger engine and more power and has crappy performance. id stick with the GTO
I swear man I've had it with people saying aussie cars well FUCK YOU!! It doesn't matter it still has the heart of a chevy good for yall it was about time yall did something good but its still runs on a pushrod ls based engine!!
:-/ Some G8s do run 13.5s or even slightly better (Which i have never seen in AZ). At this track, stock G8s run around 14.2-13.8 in AZ depending on the DA. There are a lot of variables (track condition, elevation, DA, temperature). Running 13.3s with a 2500-3000 foot DA is fine. Let me run and tune for a track in say PA with good air, I would prolly be knocking on the door for 12's.
Yeah that seems a little retarded to me as well... even the lightest pressure on the brake is going to cause some friction and will lower that e/t by a few tenths
I take that back, the altimas not stock. It has an aftermarket exaust, cold air intake, short throw and short linkage transmission, and I changed out the ecu. So ya it runs high 12s low 13s depending on the weather.
@citizensolider88 not trying to be a ass buts thats bullshit a 2.4 altima running 12s with the few mods you named no way! how long is the track you racing on because its not a 1/4th mile
thats prety quick, but thats prety bad concidering that my 2001 altima (2.4L 5 speed) does the quarter mile in 12.78 stock and 0-60 is roughly 6 sec. i bought it used and the dealership said its stock, i dont think it is. i think it has a high pressure clutch and a short linkage tranny(not short throw, short linkage) but thats what i think.
@citizensolider88 : Are you seriously retarded?? Or are you really a 5th grader? I'm at New England Dragway every weekend and I have yet to see an Altima pull a 12 sec. 1/4! Even the 240 hp 3.5l Altima barely breaks 15 sec. Tell you what....put up a video of a 12.78 run and I'll shut my mouth.
Man, I can only wonder where else you are spewing this complete nonsense. Coming from a Nissan '07 350z owner, please just stop babbling and embarrassing the entire Nissan family. There is not a N/A 2.4L Altima anywhere hitting 12.78, period. Please stop comparing your video games to real life.
I now have a 2010 Cobalt SS turbo and with a simple boost increase ( 5 psi more than stock adds 55 hp\ 55 tq) it runs 12.8 @ 112 mph... Stock I ran 13.7 @ 103 mph with it at Firebird in Phx, Az in 85* air..... and a DA of 4100 ft.
2006 GTO will whoop the G8 GT and equal the GXP G8.. With a manual tranny in the GTO ... The automatic GTO's were slow... I had one of each (auto and manual) in LS2 form (2005-2006)... My automatic GTO stock ran 14.2 sec @ 104.75 mph and the Manual model stock ran 13.4@ 108 mph.... This is a 1.5 car difference in the 1\4... I know, I ran both against eachother....
Ran my G8 GT with a VMS tune and Pypes axle back for the first time, 13.4 in the quarter. Got my Kooks headers coming, then the UD Pulley, new VMS tune. Hoping for first run in 2010 of around 12.7. Awesome cars!
uh not so fast, the GTO and G8 (stock) are very close to each other speed-wise, my brother's gto and my g8 have tested that. Dont be fooled, the 04-05 goats are still badass
lol he probably didnt know how to launch or drive the car...that IRS is tricky til you get it right....and to the idiot below me who said the GTOs werent good, ur an idiot...yes the 04s had major problems, but the LS2 models were amazing...you say they arent as good as the G8GT ,but with a good driver and a few mods it ran a 13.37...very respectable....but iv run my 05 GTO when it was stock to a 13.1 @ 107 MPH....so i kinda discredit ur argument there dude....any response?
dude you make me proud. Just got a 08 GT white g8 also :) with the break light thing they put out a recall not too long ago about the brake lights engaging randomly... NO ONE WANTS TO RACE ME (at least noone that knows anything about the g8) it kinda sux... lol
since it's an automatic trans a handheld tuner can usually make adjustments to the car's computer that tells the trans when to shift and how hard so he used the tuner to adjust those kinds of things making it shift harder/quicker than the factory tune which is why the tires chirp
i use hand controls to drive. when i'm at wide open throttle, sometimes i slightly press the brakes at the same time as they're all linked together (not actually engaging the brakes though). that's why it does it in both videos.
its almost weird the way that pontiac makes these, there main goal was to compete wit the dodge chargers, they did a good job though and the g8 is faster
That makes sense. I gotta say the G8 GT is one awesome car. I'm trying desperately to talk my wife into one. That way if my vette breaks I can take hers to the track! I know I know...that's just not right.
lol it happens on all my runs. i use hand controls to drive because i'm a paraplegic. the way the hand controls are setup and how sensitive the brake light is, they come on at WOT a lot. the brakes are not actually engaging though.
btw that's insane how you can burn second gear with the AT transmission! BTW is the Torque management thing in all cars or just yours? And can it be removed in all cars? Sorry if a bit ignorant, don't know much about trannies.
I got a g8GT a couple months ago and i live in surprise. When do you plan on goin to speedworld again?
