These are referred to as flying foxes. They actually don't use ecolocation like the bats we have in the states. They have big brown eyes and use all 5 senses, like humans do. There's a big problem with these bats being hunted for food.

Cambodian Fruit Bats.

I think Pteropus bats.

Wow I rarely see bats and they're of the smaller breed. On occasion I'll see one zip by or get into the house but that's it.

I see these every day (I work at Siem Reap ATC), and am amazed at their size.

They're like flying cats!

Much bigger than the ones in the UK!

They sound like birds singing too, not bats squealing.

I'll get some video in a couple of hours, and see if I can get a close up (not too likely with a Nokia N82!!).

Those bats are huge too. I saw one up close. They are 5 times bigger than the ones we have in NY, but they are fruit bats and won't harm anyone.

Bats don't harm anyone anyway. Everyone seems to think bats are a danger to people, they are NOT.

I was surprised to see them during the day too. I think usually they fly out at dusk and return at dawn. This was about 4PM, if I remember correctly.
