I would say these cars sucked NOT because of the amount of development which went into them. but the drivers who actually drove them. they are tremendous cars, i have driven one and i have nothing but praise to the response and handling of the car. The WRX STI isn't necessarily better then the EVO but drivers like Colin McRae exploited the maximum potential of the STI. It's the drivers that truly make the cars into what they are... not workshops and factories
it was and still is a very very succesful rally car for privateers, they spent millions developing the SR20 DET (which is one of the most tuneable engines ever made) then they stuck that bloody intercooler on top of it.
it only failed because Nissan didnt change the things that needed fixing.
that's like saying mitsubishi evos failed at rallying - but due to the fact more money was invested in the car, things were changed etc the car became a champion.

thats pretty dangerous. i hope you guys know that this car FAILED as a rally car and is no longer being used for such purposes.
