I bought an old miter saw from GL. But its do not have a groove for the blade.when the blade goes down when cutting.. (it had wood underneath.).You ever see those old miter saw? how do i set so the blade dont keep cutting the wood from underneath?..thanks for sharing.
I have never used drywall compound before ,is it hard and time involved for a 350sq ft room do you think?? oh thank you for answering this ..so appreciated !!
@TheAliveformyself If you haven't worked with drywall compound much, I don't think I would recommend you to tackle your ceiling. If you really want to though, I wouldn't say you couldn't do it!! Try in a small area & see what you can do. Then if you feel comfortable, try it. Get the all purpose joint compound that is premixed in a bucket. You can get a really small bucket & do your test area before buying the bigger bucket. Ask at the hardware store & they will help you out I'm sure. Joe :0
I am going to have to use your site as my reference guide always so never close it :) I do need to know on painting my living room ceiling how do I making those beautiful swirls like they had in the older homes in the 30 and 40's ??some folk told me to use a broom ??
@TheAliveformyself Most ceiling swirls are made with drywall compound where they applied it to the ceiling before painting. Don't think you can make those swirls with just using paint. You could ask at the paint store & you might be able to come up with something, with a brush that's used when applying drywall compound....only use it for the paint after applying the base coat, then go back & put the swirls on, after the base coat dries? That might be a possibility. You'll have to try. Joe :0
