hello all, yeah i think spheres will create problems because of their triangle at their poles, the hexagon is a good alternative I think also because he smoothed it, so it will be quads anyways.
Actually, Maya is used in video games a lot too. If you visit Autodesk's main site, they love to show how much big companies like Insomniac and Ubisoft have their heads stuck up their butts (They like to flaunt it off like CRAZY).
nice job. How did you get your rope to drop in such a random fashion. my rope dropped in a very straight manner. Are there parameters you set for such gravity?
so clean simulation when i do the same thing in max using the cloth modifier i get sprites all over my baloon i dont know why, i also get these sprites when i try to simulate clothes on my characters :/ with maya seems so clean and nefty
Hey man, helpful tut. I love ncloth. I can't wait til the next version of Maya that is going to have the nucleus node driving all of the dynamics.
As far as oxoxox goes, not to pull him from your tutorials but feel free to check out my youTube account or website for the start of a series of 60+ vids covering Maya if you're interested in learning the whole program too.
thanx alot for this tutorial, it was very helpfull, i am new in maya but i did alot of cool things i will uploade them soon, but i didn know how to do the ncloth effict.
wonderful!Amazing!

nice!, but why did you use a soccerball? hexagons will mess thinks up while using ncloth.
my way is just smoothing a cube,which also give you a nice UV layout

I think I already give answer.. to this.
If u don't want to use hexagon dont use but be sure u keep your poly size equal in your mesh to have better result with ncloth.

hey i got a question... why didn't you create a sphere from the begginning? .. is there a difference? thanks.

@rodrigotarriba ..
Yes there is. normal sphere has triangles at pole so when u simulate ncloth it gives you pinch at that point (both pole).
To make you ballon round from all side we have to take uniform geometry (all face are equal)

Yeah, some even combine the two. IMO 3DSMAX and Maya are equally good, one just does something better than the other sometimes. It goes both ways :D.

No maya is better in every department, plus in 3dsmax is hard to rotate and navigate your viewpoint which is the most irritating thing.
