According to Alan Weiss, a TV producer who happened to be in St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital when John Lennon was taken in (after being shot), this song came over the hospital's muzak minutes before John was pronounced dead. Lennon probably was dead on arrival (he lost much of his blood), but what if he heard it? I can't tell if it'd be sweet because of Paul seeming to sing him goodbye or creepy because of the circumstances.

@Hadreleii yeah heard the guy talk about that and my immediate thought was John in his heart of hearts would have liked it. it would have taken him back to to good time with a close mate and mates who obviously meant the world to him. he'd have smiled at the irony of it been more a paul song than his but i dont think John was so egocentric as to want to hear one of his own ( brilliant as his were ). He closed his eyes and tomorrow the whole world missed him. forever!
