@SarahANDBrianPEACE99 specifically, the balloon is the amniotic sac which the baby is encased in within the womb. As to why the eat it - it is not only to hide signs of birth, but for the nutrients. It is extremely valuable for the mother.

I notice this wasn't mentioned but another reason why some animals eat at the placenta is so that the baby does not suffocate as well as allow it mobility as soon as it can stand (mainly to run from predators, which is why herd animals can run so soon after birth, to join their herd in fleeing). You'll notice some animals will go straight for the head. A way to ensure that the placenta is no longer hindering the animal is to make it disappear. In other words, eat it.

part of the reason they eat it is "In the wild" the eat the after birth to get rid of it to hide the fact that there is a new/weak animal, to prevent predators being attracted to them.

I have the same animals as yall, except for horses. I also have a garden. Growing your own food is the best way to have meat without steroids, antibiotics & additives. It is also the only way you can assure you don't have added sodium & "preservatives" in your vegetables, I have witnessed much of the country life encounters myself but it's always nice to see others doing the same. Life on the farm is the ONLY life for me! People shouldn't talk about the farmer with their mouth full!
