Just realize that there are no curse words in this... so why do rappers continue to curse every 3 seconds? to attempt to sound cool or because they just suuuckkk that badly...cough cough lil wayne, souljaboy, etc
@TheDicksintheass cush and weed are curse words. Second he is not rapping about doing drugs, instead he is rapping about the drugs that are in the streets. (And in other songs) he raps about kids doing drugs and gangs drug trafficking. (please excuse any poor spelling and/or grammer).
@69killlluminati69 i meant to say weed is not a curse word. And you should stop talking about someone's life that you dont know, and cursing so you can act cool and tough. (please excuse any poor spelling and/or grammer if any).

yea Lupe does not support drug use of any kind, throughout any of his tracks. He talks about its negative presence within society nowadays. He is in no way similar to other wack rappers out today such as kid cudi for example....
@idropbombes Yu dun guffed for being an idiot. Drugs dont have a ''negative presence'' . People need to educate themselves about whatever the fuk they gonna speak about before opening their mouth. You just made a popular assumption and made an ass out of yourself. Also calling cudi wack? lmao, even cudi is one of lupes favorite rappers and hes one of the most talented guys out here also.
@idropbombes Well he did, when he use to push drugs w. Chilly, but when Chilly got locked up he stopped. Than a lil' after he decided to stop using drug references in his lines because he wanted to be a role model.
@idropbombes some rappers cuss cause it gives more emotion. instead of saying, "tired of being in this hood, never gonna change" they'll say "tired of being in this hood, never gonna fucking change!"
@Pedofied 50 cent sucks. It's alright to swear, but rappers today swear just for the hell of it. Without any purpose other than to just say those words.
@blade9871 I hate today's rappers but the old rappers who swear like shit are still good but 50 was good but his new stuff /facepalm I don't even want to talk about his new stuff he conformed to the sound of todays rappers all about getting bitches having money and being badass I like it when it actually has meaning and being badass is aloud somtimes :)
@idropbombes what are yu talkin about? have yu even heard a lil wayne song before? he does NOT curse every 3 seconds yu stupid dumbass, i can see souja boy doin that cuz he juss sucks monkeyballs but stop dissin weezy.
I must have listened to this song at least 100 times, and I probably still havent picked up on all the double entendres and hidden meanings. Lupe is unreal.
This dude isnt real.....every line a metaphor. The change of theme refers to him going from height to smell or covering the drug smell. That whole usual suspects theme was out this word. When he passes the will study his lyrics in college. Hate to say it but greatest lyrisist ever
True indeed. These are just my top picks as far as flow & structure is concerned. Cassidy, Jada, S.P., & Nas are my top as far as concept is concerned.
IF YOU LOVE HIP-HOP CHECK OUT HiDefinition. HE IS AN UP AND COMING ARTIST THAT IS EXTREMELY TALENTED. SEARCH FOR "AVAILABLE IN HD -MY ZONE" AND HELP GET REAL HIP-HOP THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVES.
@homidontpl8 no semi from the second is more like being caught in an altercation and yo ass get shot . which will only take a second. dnt over think it
@hoodyman88 the whole metaphor is about him being on top of a building. Why would he suddenly switch out of the metaphor then switch back in? A penny dropped from the top of a very tall building (heaven) has the same force when it hits the ground as a semi truck dropped from the second story. Hes saying his weaker rhymes (pennies) are equivalent to the best rhymes (semi...truck) of other rappers because he is at such a high level (heaven) and they arent (second story).
@homidontpl8 understand im from the west side of chicago as a lil nigga once and a while older cats would say u could kill a person if u hit them with a penny from the top of the SEARS tower . now a "semi" for most of us means "semi-automatic PISTOL" (pick one dnt matter which) not a fuckin semi truck falling from the second floor. what since does that make. picture that in ur head. (a little overboard correct? LOL believe what u will but my nigga means a GUN from close not a TRUCK
@hoodyman88 ah, i see what you're saying. It make sense both ways i guess. And picturing a semi truck falling on someone is a violent image...i think that point he was trying to get across. His lyrics hit really hard, even his weaker ones (pennies).
he says "this is gangster man" because everything popular at the time was "gangster", hes sayin it kind of as a term for cool, like dont listen to the supporting of a negative lifestyle, this is gangster to be educated and uplifting, he's not tellin people to dislike gangster shit cuz he knows they wont do that, hes sayin this is gangster too, appreciate different sides of a gangster, real gangsters support this shit, fake gangsters think this is too preachy and self righteous, people who actual
@cbcbc96 ly do the dirt of the street realize you need shit tellin kids goin out and sellin drugs isnt so cool, robbin people isnt so cool, its a rough reality, and its true and i definitely respect people who have done the shit and spread the stories of the streets but dudes like rick ross and shit support giving in to that lifestyle which real gangsters who have to do the shit to survive realize thats not the route they need to take, they appreciate someone steering kids away from it
Homie dont even try to come at me like that, Ive been listening to hiphop for about 15 years now and Ive seen a lot of rappers come and go, and trust me, a LOT of them have been tighter than Lupe. These verses are nothing special, replace the beat with something average and nobody would give a fuck about this song. Lupe talks shit about not spitting gangster shit, but he was trying to be gangster here. whats up with that? Gotta be who you are, fuck if some haters think its "dumbed down"
@GetOffMyNutsac lupe killed this song so no1 else is ever allowed to spit on it again. or god will smite them, btw jadakiss sucks ass but it figures you'd listen to him since you need your songs dumbed downed. must be too hard to think...
@PolarSmoke Some of the smartest shit i ever heard came from dudes you probably thought were "dumb" because they spit street shit. Guru, Sean Price, Mac Dre, mf doom, you dont gotta act smart to spit some smart verses. Just because you cant relate doesnt mean there isnt wisdom in those words
@GetOffMyNutsac i got nothin against those rappers but you were talking reckless about Lupe so i returned the favor. And it has nothing to do with being smart, i just prefer a song with depth rather than the same pussy money weed bull.
@GetOffMyNutsac yeah dude you dont know lupe and we can all sit here and try and say he was try to be like this or do this but turth is only lupe knows wat he was trying to do lets face facts you dont know wat anyone thinks and vice versa. but i hope you understand that this album is a him telling a story. i thought "put you on game" was him talking about himself but it wasnt he was in fact talking about a character in the story he is telling called "the game"
@MrPolarbear1223 What? Sorry its a little hard to understand you when you have Lupe's entire cock in your mouth. I dont like him and your dickriding of him on youtube wont change that, I still think hes a shitty rapper and is lucky to have a large promotional machine behind him. Wish more rappers were signed to Atlantic Records and got that publicity. Also, you called me dumb for not liking him, now you say smart has nothing to do with it? Im sorry I'll leave you alone you must just be a kid
@GetOffMyNutsac lol itz watever man deep down i know y you hate lupe so much itz because you cant understand wat he is saying. if you want i send you 5 bucks and you can go buy a dictionary and start from there. plz everyone donate 5 bucks to the help a negro read foundation so that this poor child may one day understand lupe's lyrics.
@GetOffMyNutsac Lupe wasn't "trying" to act like a gangster. He used to sell drugs and used to run with O.G.'s in Chicago. Trust me he's far from a poser.
@Ant718100 Haha what, were you out there bangin with him? Dont believe everything you read in books or hear on the news. Rappers can claim to be one way, and then live another, and just because you are a fan of their music doesnt mean you have to believe everything they say. I know you want so badly to believe them, but I dont know a lot of gangsters who dont have criminal records...
@GetOffMyNutsac IDK i'm just saying I doubt he would make up everything. I don't think he made up an imaginary friend named Chilly who took the rap for Lupe leading him to serve a 40 year sentence. That would be a bit extra for him to make that up. There has to be some truth to it.
He dropped the r from Rover and Right. It's 'Over 'Ight?

This dude isnt real.....every line a metaphor. The change of theme refers to him going from height to smell or covering the drug smell. That whole usual suspects theme was out this word. When he passes the will study his lyrics in college. Hate to say it but greatest lyrisist ever

i love how he uses so much sarcasm in his lyrics. in so many songs.

"I stack my paper and throw off my cents
This is top flo', better look out below
Pennys from heaven is the same as a semi from the sect
And I reign supreme
Turn your umbrellas upside down
Did you even catch the change in theme?"
If you want wordplay and creativity Lupe is as good as is gets, old school or new school. This whole freaking song is lyricism genius.
MrCommenterguy 8 months ago 3
@MrCommenterguy pennies from heaven is the same as a semi from the second. like a second story building
homidontpl8 7 months ago
@homidontpl8 no semi from the second is more like being caught in an altercation and yo ass get shot . which will only take a second. dnt over think it
hoodyman88 7 months ago
@hoodyman88 the whole metaphor is about him being on top of a building. Why would he suddenly switch out of the metaphor then switch back in? A penny dropped from the top of a very tall building (heaven) has the same force when it hits the ground as a semi truck dropped from the second story. Hes saying his weaker rhymes (pennies) are equivalent to the best rhymes (semi...truck) of other rappers because he is at such a high level (heaven) and they arent (second story).
homidontpl8 7 months ago 2
@homidontpl8 understand im from the west side of chicago as a lil nigga once and a while older cats would say u could kill a person if u hit them with a penny from the top of the SEARS tower . now a "semi" for most of us means "semi-automatic PISTOL" (pick one dnt matter which) not a fuckin semi truck falling from the second floor. what since does that make. picture that in ur head. (a little overboard correct? LOL believe what u will but my nigga means a GUN from close not a TRUCK
hoodyman88 7 months ago
@hoodyman88 ah, i see what you're saying. It make sense both ways i guess. And picturing a semi truck falling on someone is a violent image...i think that point he was trying to get across. His lyrics hit really hard, even his weaker ones (pennies).
homidontpl8 7 months ago
@homidontpl8 He's talking about a Semi automatic PISTOL, not a truck. You're reaching to deep.
Fredfiness 7 months ago
@Fredfiness yeah thats what hoodyman was saying. Apparently I was just thinking too hard
homidontpl8 7 months ago
he says "this is gangster man" because everything popular at the time was "gangster", hes sayin it kind of as a term for cool, like dont listen to the supporting of a negative lifestyle, this is gangster to be educated and uplifting, he's not tellin people to dislike gangster shit cuz he knows they wont do that, hes sayin this is gangster too, appreciate different sides of a gangster, real gangsters support this shit, fake gangsters think this is too preachy and self righteous, people who actual
cbcbc96 8 months ago
@cbcbc96 ly do the dirt of the street realize you need shit tellin kids goin out and sellin drugs isnt so cool, robbin people isnt so cool, its a rough reality, and its true and i definitely respect people who have done the shit and spread the stories of the streets but dudes like rick ross and shit support giving in to that lifestyle which real gangsters who have to do the shit to survive realize thats not the route they need to take, they appreciate someone steering kids away from it
cbcbc96 8 months ago
Homie dont even try to come at me like that, Ive been listening to hiphop for about 15 years now and Ive seen a lot of rappers come and go, and trust me, a LOT of them have been tighter than Lupe. These verses are nothing special, replace the beat with something average and nobody would give a fuck about this song. Lupe talks shit about not spitting gangster shit, but he was trying to be gangster here. whats up with that? Gotta be who you are, fuck if some haters think its "dumbed down"
GetOffMyNutsac 8 months ago
lupe is a kind of a faggot
this beat is tight though, wish somebody raw like sean price or jadakiss would spit a freestyle over it
GetOffMyNutsac 8 months ago
@GetOffMyNutsac lupe killed this song so no1 else is ever allowed to spit on it again. or god will smite them, btw jadakiss sucks ass but it figures you'd listen to him since you need your songs dumbed downed. must be too hard to think...
PolarSmoke 8 months ago
@PolarSmoke Some of the smartest shit i ever heard came from dudes you probably thought were "dumb" because they spit street shit. Guru, Sean Price, Mac Dre, mf doom, you dont gotta act smart to spit some smart verses. Just because you cant relate doesnt mean there isnt wisdom in those words
GetOffMyNutsac 8 months ago
@GetOffMyNutsac i got nothin against those rappers but you were talking reckless about Lupe so i returned the favor. And it has nothing to do with being smart, i just prefer a song with depth rather than the same pussy money weed bull.
PolarSmoke 8 months ago
@GetOffMyNutsac yeah dude you dont know lupe and we can all sit here and try and say he was try to be like this or do this but turth is only lupe knows wat he was trying to do lets face facts you dont know wat anyone thinks and vice versa. but i hope you understand that this album is a him telling a story. i thought "put you on game" was him talking about himself but it wasnt he was in fact talking about a character in the story he is telling called "the game"
MrPolarbear1223 8 months ago
@MrPolarbear1223 What? Sorry its a little hard to understand you when you have Lupe's entire cock in your mouth. I dont like him and your dickriding of him on youtube wont change that, I still think hes a shitty rapper and is lucky to have a large promotional machine behind him. Wish more rappers were signed to Atlantic Records and got that publicity. Also, you called me dumb for not liking him, now you say smart has nothing to do with it? Im sorry I'll leave you alone you must just be a kid
GetOffMyNutsac 8 months ago
@GetOffMyNutsac lol itz watever man deep down i know y you hate lupe so much itz because you cant understand wat he is saying. if you want i send you 5 bucks and you can go buy a dictionary and start from there. plz everyone donate 5 bucks to the help a negro read foundation so that this poor child may one day understand lupe's lyrics.
MrPolarbear1223 8 months ago
@GetOffMyNutsac Lupe wasn't "trying" to act like a gangster. He used to sell drugs and used to run with O.G.'s in Chicago. Trust me he's far from a poser.
Ant718100 8 months ago
@Ant718100 Haha what, were you out there bangin with him? Dont believe everything you read in books or hear on the news. Rappers can claim to be one way, and then live another, and just because you are a fan of their music doesnt mean you have to believe everything they say. I know you want so badly to believe them, but I dont know a lot of gangsters who dont have criminal records...
GetOffMyNutsac 8 months ago
@GetOffMyNutsac IDK i'm just saying I doubt he would make up everything. I don't think he made up an imaginary friend named Chilly who took the rap for Lupe leading him to serve a 40 year sentence. That would be a bit extra for him to make that up. There has to be some truth to it.
