  • He dropped the r from Rover and Right. It's 'Over 'Ight?

  • Okay, where's my dictionary.

  • what album is this off of??

  • @ukrainad17 It's off one of his early mixtapes: "Fahrenheit 1/15 Part I: The Truth Is Among Us"

  • like a hundred different metaphors and double/triple meanings and word plays in this song. my lyrically insane track ever. you actually gotta analyze the lyrics or the whole song goes over your head. literally thought i caught all the metaphors than i read some of the lyrics and missed like 60 % of them

  • I didn't catch the change in theme

  • Uploader, its "I COULD walk the walk" not "I couldn't walk the walk" on the 11th line

  • Lupe the GOAT

  • anybody notice the cat double meaning in the beginning?

  • @QuadQweezy oh shit, CAT as in the company the makes steamrollers and other machines

  • @oUND3RPAYDo yep exactly

  • its a shame lupe won't get the credit he deserves until hes dead and people really start to "LISTEN" to his material

  • Lupe Fiasco is one of the few artists that you can listen to repeatedly and gain something from it each time you hear it. Ive heard this song more than 100 times. and i just found out something new. thats how you know the difference between someone normal and a phenomenon

  • Can somebody tell me what tape this is off of? I used to listen to this before F&L came out, but I can't find it anywhere now! Please if anybody knows tell me ASAP. Thanks.

  • @rafybass11 the cool. torrent it bro

  • @TheXeno94 Nah it's not off the cool, that's just the picture he put up for some reason, it's off of Lupe's Fahrenheit First & Fifteenth Mixtape.

  • a magnificent display of lyricism!

  • Cool ,thanks

  • One of the sickest raps of all time

  • Funny how I'm only sick if you never catch a thing.

  • ohmy... I don't have this on my iPod! What album is this off of?! I must have it! :)

  • @AyeLaneyy It's off his Da Exam mixtape.

  • One of the greatest to ever breathe into the mic.

  • “So it might be a [R]over, [R]ight? But every time I drop an 'R'(R refering to rhyme)

Get off the streets! It's over, 'ight?”... Think about that, Rover minus R = OVER. Right minus R = ‘IGHT... Damn! – Lupe Fiasco HAS to be one of the Greatest Lyricist to grace a mic. Like WOW!

  • 3rd verse is sick!!!!

  • Im pretty sure this song went over the head of many people, way too many sick lines in this song.

  • "all that gas cant help you but solar might so just call on sun/son drop a s pick up a o you know/U-no/Uno put it all on one" coldest line in the song

    drop a s-stack($1000) pick up a o-ounce

drop the s from sun and put a o at the end Uno spanish for one

put it all on one back to the gas reference

solar energy is a alternative to gas

dont gas yourself up let him help you

just too much shit for one line

  • @9budah3 hes a fucking genius

  • Now i'm over the LIMP watch how their MUGS drop when they see my VERBALS able (that's the USUAL)

  • @RedabowAndBusmalis This boys a prop gamer

  • @ThreeSaggyBollocks tbiohoag

  • What mixtape/album is this from?

  • @DeadPixel00 Farenheit 1/15 Part 1: Trials and Tribulations. Check out part 2, Revenge of the Nerds, bext mixtape ever.

  • @DeadPixel00 food & liquor

  • can someone message me and lemme know where i can get this song?

  • @danYOdrummer Go to Datpiff.com and look for the Farenheit 1/15 mixtape series. This is on Part 1.

  • this shit gives me headaches

  • and i think its "niggas brownnose they are like ALF to him"

you know how the tv character puppet ALF had a big off brown nose. and theres like a sort of film clip of the first half of this and when he raps that line he puts his hand near his hip like how tall ALF was/is.

    maybe

  • @SlawtaProducer Either those 2, or it could also mean to push ki's as in push kilos of things such as cocaine. A lot of his songs refer to how he's against the drug pushing.

  • Where does the instrumental from this song come from?

  • @bristolchronic4eva The very start of Idris Muhammad - Could Heaven Ever Be Like This. It is looped and with slight alterations.

  • @bristolchronic4eva its the onyx - i'm so 90s!

  • the change in them was rain to sunshine

  • 9 dislikes? Really? Damn...

  • I dunno, this track is alright.

SLR > Comeback Season > Failure.

  • At the end its "you see what im saiyen, and i push ki's wonderfully" dbz :P

  • @CardiacKatz either that or "push keys" "wonder" fully, like stevie wonder, hence all the sight/blind references before hand, this is some cryptic rap I can't keep up

  • @CardiacKatz Not to mention the drug reference to pushing kilos AND to tie back the the whole blind theme he had going, pushing piano keys WONDERfully, as in stevie wonder who was blind. So many meanings in just one line. Blows my mind!

  • Drake got on this beat and didn't go harder then lupe by a long shot

  • And I rain supreme turn yo umbrellas upside down. Did u even catch the change I things. Tell me if that wasn't lyrical.

  • You see I'm a roller, right?

So it might be a rover, right?

But every time I drop a 'r' get off the streets

    It's over, ight?

damnnn this guy is a poet

  • . . . . you see world (sea world), it's braille here, I'm Bumpy Johnson . . . .

    THE GOAT

  • he should have retired after this album omg .

  • @KingAlex6 why?

  • @DiZzybot22 cause this song is just crazy ! i love this song

  • Hes in Phx tonight! Free show @ ASU! Fuck yessss

  • best rapper alive

  • HA! I DID catch the change in theme mofo!

  • This could very well be the most lyrical song ever in the history of hip hop ....

  • @sharmake284 "Dumb it down" = most lyrical song

  • A rap song with no curse words. That still knockss ..

  • "it was welfare, coming up for airs like whales there" WOW

  • I like what J. Cole did to the beat better

  • Haha I can't even comprehend half of the shit he spittin'!

  • "You see I'm a roller, right, so it might be a Rover, right

But every time I drop an 'R' it's over ight?"

  • This music is like mathematical, in such a dope way.

  • rapgenius without this website I'd be listening to this song with no idea what they're saying. Click on the lyrics and definitions will pop up.

  • @vintlulu RapGenius is GOAT

  • @mrmarcusshelton94 cuz lil wayne sucks lol

  • this is on a few of the mixtapes

farenheit 1/15 and touch the sky and i think enemy of the state...i think

  • I stack my paper and throw off my sence This is top floor, better look out before Pennies from heaven is the same as the semi from the second And I reign supreme Turn your umbrellas upside down Did you even catch the change in theme? She don't get Fed Ex like overnight I am Dolemite All that gas can't help you but solar might Just call on sun Drop a 's' Pick up an 'o' Uno, put it all on "one" Brace yourself like overbite "For that quiet nigga that relocated down south Coming back to floss"
  • Lupe the killa! One of his sickest tracks right here, wish the official video for it had the full song.

  • lupe fiasco better than lil wayne nuff' said

  • @tipfan05 why are u even mentioning lil wayne lol

  • what album is this on?

  • Took 6 years to fully decipher this song, and I'm probably not done yet...

hands down, one of the dopest songs in Hip-Hop.

  • 9 people are failures.... They disliked this song.

  • Just realize that there are no curse words in this... so why do rappers continue to curse every 3 seconds? to attempt to sound cool or because they just suuuckkk that badly...cough cough lil wayne, souljaboy, etc

  • @idropbombes why everybody hate lil wayne I mean I agree about Soulja Boy but Wayne is good sometimes ... but he will never reach Lupe's level

  • @idropbombes did you just consider soulja boy a rapper!?

  • @idropbombes stfu

  • @idropbombes he syas the n-word a few times. i mean, yeh, not as bad in alotta ways but still counts i think

  • @idropbombes Lawl, he dosesnt swear , but he mentions cush and weed a little bit. You theory is wrong.

  • @TheDicksintheass cush and weed are curse words. Second he is not rapping about doing drugs, instead he is rapping about the drugs that are in the streets. (And in other songs) he raps about kids doing drugs and gangs drug trafficking. (please excuse any poor spelling and/or grammer).

  • @germain317 shut the fuck up how the fuck is weed a curse man get off the internet and get a fuckin life

  • @69killlluminati69 i meant to say weed is not a curse word. And you should stop talking about someone's life that you dont know, and cursing so you can act cool and tough. (please excuse any poor spelling and/or grammer if any).

  • @germain317 eat a fuckin fried cunt faggot dick loving piece of fruity fuck (excuse my language i was just checking my cool level on the internet )

  • @TheDicksintheass

yea Lupe does not support drug use of any kind, throughout any of his tracks. He talks about its negative presence within society nowadays. He is in no way similar to other wack rappers out today such as kid cudi for example....

  • @idropbombes Yu dun guffed for being an idiot. Drugs dont have a ''negative presence'' . People need to educate themselves about whatever the fuk they gonna speak about before opening their mouth. You just made a popular assumption and made an ass out of yourself. Also calling cudi wack? lmao, even cudi is one of lupes favorite rappers and hes one of the most talented guys out here also.

  • @idropbombes Well he did, when he use to push drugs w. Chilly, but when Chilly got locked up he stopped. Than a lil' after he decided to stop using drug references in his lines because he wanted to be a role model.

  • @idropbombes He actually does swear a couple times, but yeah sometimes excessive amounts of it is really annoying.

  • @idropbombes some rappers cuss cause it gives more emotion. instead of saying, "tired of being in this hood, never gonna change" they'll say "tired of being in this hood, never gonna fucking change!"

  • @idropbombes the people you said suck ass but the best rappers swear in there songs *cough* *cough* N.W.A , eminem, tupac, snoop dogg,50 cent, etc lol

  • @Pedofied yea but they dont every second line

  • @Pedofied 50 cent sucks. It's alright to swear, but rappers today swear just for the hell of it. Without any purpose other than to just say those words.

  • @blade9871 I hate today's rappers but the old rappers who swear like shit are still good but 50 was good but his new stuff /facepalm I don't even want to talk about his new stuff he conformed to the sound of todays rappers all about getting bitches having money and being badass I like it when it actually has meaning and being badass is aloud somtimes :)

  • @idropbombes btw i think niggers a swear

  • @idropbombes what are yu talkin about? have yu even heard a lil wayne song before? he does NOT curse every 3 seconds yu stupid dumbass, i can see souja boy doin that cuz he juss sucks monkeyballs but stop dissin weezy.

  • @idropbombes He actually did cuss a few times....but i agree with u

  • @idropbombes The reason why Lupe doesn't swear is cos he's a religious Muslim.

  • @mejan94 ah well... he tries his best not to curse but he still does.

  • 9 people did not catch the change in theme

  • I did not catch the change in Theme

  • @GrenEggz hahahah

  • @GrenEggz he goes from being rich to being poor basically. its hard to explain. just watch TimesNuRoman's lyric breakdown of Failure.

  • IVE GIVEN UP ON TRYIN TO UNDERSTAND HE'S SONGS WHILE IM LISTENING. NOW RAP GENIUS DOES IT FOR ME:)

  • Brace yourself like overbite. <--I had to laugh at this cause I got braces. lol

  • One of the sickest most complex songs ever written. Lupe is the best pure lyricist alive in my opinion.

  • lupe might be G.O.A.T.

  • This is going to go over my head a couple times before i completly get it

  • Real ill metaphors but what does it all mean in the end..

  • He has too many metaphors. In every song fells lyke u got to study His songs like test just to grasp a meaning!!!

  • lupe>everyone else/

  • Damn this guy makes me wanna slap myself!

  • brace yaself like overbite...

  • LU WENT NUTS on THIS.

  • @Patrick112391 It's where a line has a double meaning

  • GOOGLE chrome #FTW !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • All you hatin' on Lupe are fucking retarded

  • when i was PO i was LO

now me and my CHAPS cop PURPLE LABEL

  • I must have listened to this song at least 100 times, and I probably still havent picked up on all the double entendres and hidden meanings. Lupe is unreal.

  • @HelmiFinn TRUE DAT

  • this track ight.

  • No human being could ever do this, therefore Lupe is an alien.

  • decent song

  • So just call on sun, drop of and s pick up an o "uno" put it all one. OMG DOPE!

  • what u guys didn't get is that he was talkin bout puttin it on a gas pump too when he said put it all on one

  • His lyrics gives me headache. >.<

  • lemme give some of you guys some help... go to rap genis . com

  • She don't get fed-ex like overnight....enough said.

  • This dude isnt real.....every line a metaphor. The change of theme refers to him going from height to smell or covering the drug smell. That whole usual suspects theme was out this word. When he passes the will study his lyrics in college. Hate to say it but greatest lyrisist ever

  • i love how he uses so much sarcasm in his lyrics. in so many songs.

  • Damn.

All that gas can't help you but solar might/ so just call on sun

Drop a s pick up an o (uno)/ put it all one, then brace yourself like over bite

  • WTF! 8 people dont like this?! R u fuccin serious they aint hiphop smmfh! This nigga murdered this tracc! Lupe is fuccin NICE!

  • He shouted out to VA!

  • GENIUS SONG look at what @crizpy9119 said

  • If you really want to comprehend the depth of the genius in this...

    rapgenius[dot]com/lyrics/Lupe-fiasco/Failure

  • Comment removed

  • Lupe needs his own record label. Simple as that.

  • AND I REIGN SUPREME, TURN YOUR UMBRELLAS UPSIDE DOWN

  • 1. Lupe

    2. Eminem

    3. Pusha T

    4. Elzhi

    5. Black Thought

  • @NicolasYates THAT SIR is a LIST

imagine them 5 all on ONE song

  • @NicolasYates you kinda forgot Cass, jada, styles p, and nas

  • @jummp33 And Hov

  • @jummp33

True indeed. These are just my top picks as far as flow & structure is concerned. Cassidy, Jada, S.P., & Nas are my top as far as concept is concerned.

  • pure poetry

  • SHADRACK AND THE MANDEM!!

  • "I stack my paper and throw off my cents

This is top flo', better look out below

Pennys from heaven is the same as a semi from the sect

    And I reign supreme

    Turn your umbrellas upside down

Did you even catch the change in theme?"

If you want wordplay and creativity Lupe is as good as is gets, old school or new school. This whole freaking song is lyricism genius.

  • @MrCommenterguy pennies from heaven is the same as a semi from the second. like a second story building

  • @homidontpl8 no semi from the second is more like being caught in an altercation and yo ass get shot . which will only take a second. dnt over think it

  • @hoodyman88 the whole metaphor is about him being on top of a building. Why would he suddenly switch out of the metaphor then switch back in? A penny dropped from the top of a very tall building (heaven) has the same force when it hits the ground as a semi truck dropped from the second story. Hes saying his weaker rhymes (pennies) are equivalent to the best rhymes (semi...truck) of other rappers because he is at such a high level (heaven) and they arent (second story).

  • @homidontpl8 understand im from the west side of chicago as a lil nigga once and a while older cats would say u could kill a person if u hit them with a penny from the top of the SEARS tower . now a "semi" for most of us means "semi-automatic PISTOL" (pick one dnt matter which) not a fuckin semi truck falling from the second floor. what since does that make. picture that in ur head. (a little overboard correct? LOL believe what u will but my nigga means a GUN from close not a TRUCK

  • @hoodyman88 ah, i see what you're saying. It make sense both ways i guess. And picturing a semi truck falling on someone is a violent image...i think that point he was trying to get across. His lyrics hit really hard, even his weaker ones (pennies).

  • @homidontpl8 He's talking about a Semi automatic PISTOL, not a truck. You're reaching to deep.

  • @Fredfiness yeah thats what hoodyman was saying. Apparently I was just thinking too hard

  • he says "this is gangster man" because everything popular at the time was "gangster", hes sayin it kind of as a term for cool, like dont listen to the supporting of a negative lifestyle, this is gangster to be educated and uplifting, he's not tellin people to dislike gangster shit cuz he knows they wont do that, hes sayin this is gangster too, appreciate different sides of a gangster, real gangsters support this shit, fake gangsters think this is too preachy and self righteous, people who actual

  • @cbcbc96 ly do the dirt of the street realize you need shit tellin kids goin out and sellin drugs isnt so cool, robbin people isnt so cool, its a rough reality, and its true and i definitely respect people who have done the shit and spread the stories of the streets but dudes like rick ross and shit support giving in to that lifestyle which real gangsters who have to do the shit to survive realize thats not the route they need to take, they appreciate someone steering kids away from it

  • Homie dont even try to come at me like that, Ive been listening to hiphop for about 15 years now and Ive seen a lot of rappers come and go, and trust me, a LOT of them have been tighter than Lupe. These verses are nothing special, replace the beat with something average and nobody would give a fuck about this song. Lupe talks shit about not spitting gangster shit, but he was trying to be gangster here. whats up with that? Gotta be who you are, fuck if some haters think its "dumbed down"

  • lupe is a kind of a faggot

this beat is tight though, wish somebody raw like sean price or jadakiss would spit a freestyle over it

  • @GetOffMyNutsac lupe killed this song so no1 else is ever allowed to spit on it again. or god will smite them, btw jadakiss sucks ass but it figures you'd listen to him since you need your songs dumbed downed. must be too hard to think...

  • @PolarSmoke Some of the smartest shit i ever heard came from dudes you probably thought were "dumb" because they spit street shit. Guru, Sean Price, Mac Dre, mf doom, you dont gotta act smart to spit some smart verses. Just because you cant relate doesnt mean there isnt wisdom in those words

  • @GetOffMyNutsac i got nothin against those rappers but you were talking reckless about Lupe so i returned the favor. And it has nothing to do with being smart, i just prefer a song with depth rather than the same pussy money weed bull.

  • @GetOffMyNutsac yeah dude you dont know lupe and we can all sit here and try and say he was try to be like this or do this but turth is only lupe knows wat he was trying to do lets face facts you dont know wat anyone thinks and vice versa. but i hope you understand that this album is a him telling a story. i thought "put you on game" was him talking about himself but it wasnt he was in fact talking about a character in the story he is telling called "the game"

  • @MrPolarbear1223 What? Sorry its a little hard to understand you when you have Lupe's entire cock in your mouth. I dont like him and your dickriding of him on youtube wont change that, I still think hes a shitty rapper and is lucky to have a large promotional machine behind him. Wish more rappers were signed to Atlantic Records and got that publicity. Also, you called me dumb for not liking him, now you say smart has nothing to do with it? Im sorry I'll leave you alone you must just be a kid

  • @GetOffMyNutsac lol itz watever man deep down i know y you hate lupe so much itz because you cant understand wat he is saying. if you want i send you 5 bucks and you can go buy a dictionary and start from there. plz everyone donate 5 bucks to the help a negro read foundation so that this poor child may one day understand lupe's lyrics.

  • @GetOffMyNutsac Lupe wasn't "trying" to act like a gangster. He used to sell drugs and used to run with O.G.'s in Chicago. Trust me he's far from a poser.

  • @Ant718100 Haha what, were you out there bangin with him? Dont believe everything you read in books or hear on the news. Rappers can claim to be one way, and then live another, and just because you are a fan of their music doesnt mean you have to believe everything they say. I know you want so badly to believe them, but I dont know a lot of gangsters who dont have criminal records...

  • @GetOffMyNutsac IDK i'm just saying I doubt he would make up everything. I don't think he made up an imaginary friend named Chilly who took the rap for Lupe leading him to serve a 40 year sentence. That would be a bit extra for him to make that up. There has to be some truth to it.
