I have an early H. Miller Alu Chair, mod. EA-108, showing on the back the spot in question. I believe these "spot-less" models are a recent change by Vitra, not according to the original Eames design. Vitra's snobbery (and her exorbitant prices...!) begin to annoying me.
I think early models have something on the back of the chair, at least there are 2 spots on that side of the chair. On herman miller website there are photos showing that area of the chair and there are 2 spots, like screws. In the book, The furniture of charles and ray eames by vitra, on page 98-99 there are screws on the back of the chair.
Whats the name of the chair to the right ? And is it like a swing chair, so u can rock forward and backwards ?

I think what I say is true for earlier models.
