Alan W. said that during this tour he began to try H. at a later time on the tour '
(unfortunately even D. Miller did never know about that about a long time, he was aware that there was E and Alc on that tour in the Band, but never tought of H was even there too for Dave).
So in Jan to August he was maybe clean of H. but later in October and so on he was unfortunately trying even that (just an assumption about the month / time I mentioned ).
I like him maybe a bit more at earlier shows on this tour, because he is more on his own naturality and drive.. and more sensible, fine in his moves still there, more the 'old Dave' without the H. at earlier shows (like in LA 04 August, one of an 'earlier' show).
I personally think the Devotional Tour's version of this song was the best, but this one's pretty good too- the interlude between the final chorus and Martin's solo is pretty interesting.
2 questions, though: did Anton Corbijn make projections for this song? If so, could someone please tell me what they looked like? Thanks!
u need to check out world violation tour los angeles version of enjoy the silence probably the greatest live version of that song it starts off with gores solo

What a load of shit! They were never a 'proper band'! Just used a tape machine and ripped people off with extortianate tickets prices at concerts. These types of band went the dodo years ago and good riddance.
I thought it was just me, but his low vocals and switches just arent they way the used to be, i saw them 7 31 09 in manfield and if it was for the others rockin and the projection screen Dave Gahan Is amazing man talented its very sad he diesnt sing they wat he was..Stop Smoking dammit!
they should have made a dvd for the Violator Tour, it was the best !

agreed. devotional version is the best! exactly because of Martin's solo and interlude before it.
but this version is the second)) Martin's solo and the interlude especially are very interesting indeed.
