@jgdgr81 Shiner is a much more Flagship of Texas beer than Lonestar. Lonestar is what you drink after three or four Shiners and you arent drinking for the flavor anymore.
Why dont you all go to hell and i will stay in texas and drink my lone star beer. For god sakes this is a vintage beer commercial not a politacal debate; just grab a beer you sob's and get to drinking, and remember the damn alamo.
Looking back to my youth in the 70s I remember it was better than a lot of other beers back then. It changed a bit in the 80s but since I no longer imbibe I have no idea what it tastes like now.
I can think of too many brands of beers that have seemingly gone underground or vanished into obscurity. A lot get bought up by the mega breweries - as in the UK - and vanish.
@yashespatel Texas is the best state in all but how is going to look out for thoughs lesser states. the union needs or else they well end up like the middle east.
like mexico. the only reason why its still on the map is because of us
dont mess with you ill mess around with texas ?? wow youre no dirrent from black rappers you white males, you make me sick, dont fucking talk bad against hiphop when you have the same stuff in your songs but in a lamer context
@roodeeet It's called having talent, actually singing and playing an instrument. They just talk and yell in rap... you just gotta know how to rhyme good and that's taught in 3rd grad Dr. Suess books.
George W.Bush really chapped my hide man.Obama ain't helping much either and he ain't even from Texas, pass me the rope cowboy, lets hang 'em all.Nobody mess with Texas man, nobody.Especially Lone Star Beer, them sons of bitches left a foul taste in my beer man, taste like horse piss !!!!
@lawyerpaco The 3 spots were shot late '87 and went to air early '88. They were shot around Houston and Sealy with Galveston (to a lesser degree). The visuals over 'The carpetbaggers packed their bags and went' were filmed in Sydney, Australia (I had to get home for Christmas). The singer was a session harmonica player from Los Angeles: Norton Buffalo. I enjoyed working on the commercials and are happy people remember them.
I'll try and post the other spots if you're interested.
@KhmerSerey1 W is like all posers - born elsewhere. He claimed to have gone to high school in Odessa, while in fact, he came here after graduating college to set up one of the only unsuccessful oil investment companies during the boom. Until he became president and bought the ranch in Crawford the only property he owned here was a fishing camp in East TX he admittedly "rarely even visited". His father owned a penthouse @ the Galleria Oaks to avoid his home state income tax. Wot were we thinking?
Back in the early 60's I played country music in and around San Antonio and we were sponsored by Lone Star. We wore white western shirts with a big Lone Star patch on the back and one over the left pocket with our name over the other and at the end of each set we'd sing the Lone Star jingle. If we drank beer it had to be Lone star and those in the band who didn't like it would go to the bathroom and put what they did like into an empty Lone Star bottle. HA HA.."NOT ME"!
Hey thanks for jumpin in...For sure San Antonio Rose, but there were so many songs that I loved to do back then I wouldn't have room to list um all here . Anything by Ray Price,Hank williams,Johnny Cash, Hank Thompson,Jim Reeves and we sure don't wanta forget Bob wills. We also did alot of what we refer to today as oldies but goodies but they weren't oldies then and neither was I. I was only 19 when I put on that first Lone Star Beer patch and made it to 21 without bein caught.. HA HA..
@cappsoutlaw Gotta say it "used to be" a good beer. Started out as Buckhorn, then updated the name after prohibition, like a lot of brands. Went straight to hell in a rusty bucket when it was bought out by G Hileman Brewing based in Illinois. As far as I know, other than microbreweries, the only surviving Texas-brewed beer is Shiner, unless you count the out of state owned beers that have established plants here to save on fuel, like Anheiser Busch and Coors.
What is the song titled - in this commercial?

Lone Star commercials only existed in the 1960s. The rest are weak attempts.

Do you have the other Lone Star commercial that came out around 1987 during the oil bust....The one that goes like:
The carpet baggers packed their bags and left.
The wise men from the East left owing rent.
