@DoctorMiracle actually the previous comment was right. the whole thing's in 4-4. it's just the song emphasizes the upbeat of the 4th count. the only time it hits the first downbeat is when they say "Kate" at the chorus.

@poseidonHestia3 there is NOT a guitar. The instrument you daftly think is a guitar is actually a bass guitar, an instrument developed in the 1950s long after the GUITAR was already a standard. I believe Robert Sledge does however split his bass signal and run half of it through a guitar amp.

@no9lives this song is in 4/4. there are no changes. there is emphasis on the upbeat of the 4th beat that could be throwing you off. it is in 4/4 the whole way through. listen to the snare.

Sheldon66. I stumbled across this in April of 2008 now I own every BF and BFF CD, play piano and drive my wife nuts with daily musings on how awesome Ben Folds is. I was a guitar player...not so much anymore. I LOVE BEN FOLDS.
