  • 2.6 FUEL INYECTION?... I HAVE ONE ... CARB... :) 1990 AND IT'S THE BEST CAR I HAVE

  • @GaryOww Yep this is efi. But I wish it had a carb they are so much easyer to work on.

  • the best trucks die hard the motor in mine is gone; cant keep spark plugs in it

  • i wish my 88 trooper didnt die

  • @mexite236 This one might be dead too. Due to rust.

  • @79Datson mine died because it didnt have enough compression to move itself

  • i think mine did 0-60 in 20 seconds but that was with 33's and a 3in lift haha

  • @MrMcmahons well this one is stock tire and lift wise lol.

  • umm if your dad ever does want to sell it let me know...I miss my 88 trooper so much I have a 99 but its just not the same.

  • That seems faster then my 88' Trooper. But my trooper does have 260k miles on him.

  • Downtown Santa Cruz Hmm? I've had 2 Troopers, both 4x4, both 1st Gen, both 2.4ITEC I4, great trucks. I miss mine.

  • @mustardman4632 Yep this is right by where highway 1 meets highway 9

  • @mustardman4632

By 2.4ITEC do you mean 2.6ITEC?

I'm unaware of a 2.4 Isuzu engine. The Troopers came with 2.0l carbed, 2.3 carbed, 2.6EFI, a 2.2l diesel, and a 2.8l diesel and turbo diesel.

  • So would you say that your 0-60 time was about 15 seconds. I think that's great, considering the power to weight ratio of this Trooper. Besides, the Trooper was designed to haul gear and crawl trails. I think that the overheating problem can be corrected by having your radiator serviced. Old radiators are the leading cause of motor over heating. While you have that done replace your theromstat too.

  • I have an '89 RS (2 door, short wheel-base) with 156K. Fun to drive offroad!

  • 1988-91 was the best year for Troopers, the drive lines twice the size needed,

the 2.6L (4ZE1) engine is better than the V6-2.8L GM,

4ZE1 exhaust valves tighten up, if they get too tight you'll burn exhaust valves,

If your engine overheats, don't drive it or you'll trash the Cyl Head (Esp 88 models)

The M/T tends to leak fluid into the transfer case (it's seperated by 2 seals)

If the tranfers over-filled the trans is probably low, both take 5/30W

    My 91Trooper has 250K & runs strong

  • @uzijohn First gen troopers are awesome, but I have to argue about the 2.6 vs 2.8 V6. I've had both, and I was always chasing gremlins on my 88 2.6. It would run, but I had to constantly fiddle with it. The 2.8 V6 has a very simple EFI with only a few parts, and has iron heads so there is less head gasket problems. Coupled with the fact that parts are easier to find for the 2.8, I'd have to reccomend it in a first gen trooper. It isn't any faster, from what I can tell though.

  • @Oddman1980,

Both engines produced 120HP the V6 had better low-end torque, but it was a low output TBI version, loud, slow, leaked oil & got bad mileage, the V6 A/T model had the GM 4L30-E, poorly vented it often shot ATF up the dipstick tube onto the “Non-Shielded” right exhaust manifold catching the vehicle on fire.

The 2.6L 4ZE1 was a MPI long stroke Isuzu engine designed for the vehicle, keep it cool, adjust the valves and few problems developed, the 88’ model had a weak cyl. head

  • wanna sell this truck?

  • @Redbull357 Odds are no.My dad does not want to sell it.

  • thats very slow my 3.6 trooper goes in 11 sec

  • @H31995 Well this is a 2.6 also.

  • hey buddy i have the same truck, wich engine do you have in there??

  • It has the 2.6 4 cylinder.

  • thats pretty impressive. my old trooper took about 40 seconds to get up to 55 mph. with the bad engine. but it still got me to where i wanted to go.

i will have to do a 0-60 on my 98 and post it.

  • Well this one also has a new engine. So I am sure that helped.

  • i'm sure it did

    ha

how has the trooper been treating you?

  • It's been good Nothing else has broke on it so that on it so thats sweet.

  • thats good. except the grill falling off. haha. but thats fixable.

when i had mine i painted it black. it was the funny gray-faded color

  • Yea I still need to fix the grille. But that pretty easy.

And it's not really the cars falt it fell off.

  • it doenst seem like a complicated fix.

the older troopers with the round lights looked so nice. that would look sharp

  • Yea the troopers with the round head lights look alot better then this one. But the good news is that that that headlights and grill is will fit on trooper like this with out to munch work.

  • thats good it wont be too much work

you need a new one anyway, why not get the cool older looking one

  • Yep I know.

  • ha troopers are way too low geared for this kind of stuff but nice i like it

  • Oh man, I miss my 91 Trooper so much.

  • хуйня

  • whats your job?

  • Fixing cars and such

  • Oh yea for sure.

  • our xterra does a flip flop 0-60. either 8 or 12. no middle number. lol shifting late it does in 12, shifting 4.5K, 8. i wish i could get a video of it but...my dad hates doing it. i pay him like 5 bucks to do a 0-60. haha this car seem purty fast. its got the good ole late 80s early 90s highlighted 55 too.

  • Yep yep. It's not to bad for year. It has about the same power as my truck when it was running right.

  • who was isuzu made by?

  • Isuzu was made by isuzu till sometime in the 90's.When isuzu turned into a GM copys.

  • oh. at least gm is shaping up. they used to suck but now they are really catching on again. my grampa just bought a gm car and it RULES. he had other gm cars and they sucked. hes owned just about any car you ever heard of. (500 acre farm needs loads of cars lol)

  • True the newer GM cars are not bad like the old ones. But I am still not buying anything GM due to the fact I am almost lost my dad and grandma due to a VERY VERY bad lemon we had from them.

  • oh.

  • was it a 240xx

  • The owner of that Nissan really needs to maintain their car.

  • Yep yep.
