  • Which documentation is this?

  • @Freki86 Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon

  • That high pitched note a few seconds in is mind blowing

  • @emosikoloto

No it's not, it sounds like death. He played the wrong harmonic, even he knew it.

  • where's the rest of the solo? O_o

  • @alieno67 Well if you continue watching the movie, you'll see that is the point the solo stops and they continue discussing tracking that song.

  • What effect did he used?

  • @Krzysztovlato distortion

  • Should be illegal to cut this solo off like that.

  • 0:04, That pinch harmonic went right through my spinal cord giving me chillings on my whole body.

    AMAZING!

  • @gertjeeeh Epic true comment ! same feelin bro

  • i love him sooo much. i mean, he has always and will always be the best guitar player ever. so much talent in one man, plays guitar beautifully, sings like an angel, if theres no Pink Floyd music in Heaven i am not going!

  • this is what god would play when he comes down to earth!!

  • i have animated the dark side of the moon artwork and done a time solo cover over it. check it!

search gibsonfx les paul time solo pink floyd cover

  • Great !

  • I agree, we want the whole SOLO. We begin to lift to the clouds, when all of sudden it ends WTF !!!

  • 27 people do not have TIME to listen to this masterpiece

  • @iLoveEpicBends

Yeah, Gilmour is so great at pinch harmonic, he know that it's a strong weapon which can easily be over/ab - used, so he put them in where they really hit you

  • God in human shoes

  • @iLoveEpicBends yea it started great,,,but where the fu,,, was the rest!!!

    \

  • where the fuck is the full solo

  • I need my guitar to sound like this.........

  • His hands are massive.

I think you know what that means...

  • @Nothingtearsthebeast Massive gloves

  • @iLoveEpicBends yea dude he does something like that in echoes too!!!

  • pls what effect do he use for this solo and can someone help me to find this tone in guitar rig 4 plssss

  • Damn, I started air guitaring right as it ended in anticipation for the rest of it.

David Gilmour, like all the great musicians, is awesome even today. Let's wait and see if Kesha's still around in her 60s.

  • 0:16 man

  • How the hell can people Dislike this? I really cannot work out how that is possible.

  • @ckolonko86 its either cause they wish they could play the guitar, cant play this, or are jealous. basically all the same thing.

  • @DiamondMusicChannel I jealous as hell of David Gilmour but I still admire his amazing abilities.

  • David the master

  • sometimes i start to think about the death... and im serious when i say that i wish i could die before david's death... it would be so sad to live in a world without such an incredible guitar's player...

  • @sasvite

That's a seriously melancholic statement. You must open up your ears and listen to the incredible musicians out there today. Anybody can play guitar like that, weather you learn or it comes naturally.

  • @jeffray00 anyone can play guitar, anyone can play like David... anyone can sing his songs... but no one will ever be like him... no one will create such increidible songs... no one can have his mind, his life... so you'll see now why i said that... there's only one David Gilmour as it was only one Hendrix... no one can replace the things that they did...

  • @sasvite

    you're a fucking idiot.

  • @jeffray00 wow, got nothing else to say you fucking asshole? you get that mad because i have differents thoughts? go to you bedroom and cry like the fucking inmature baby you are...

  • @sasvite thinking about that after reading this sent a chill up my spine then brought a tear to my eye. A great loss for the history of music indeed..

  • How the hell can a guitar sound like that! Fucking hell.

  • I was 13 in the mid 80's and was just getting into music and was listening to hair bands..Then one day, my dad turned me on to The Darkside of the Moon...Been a Floyd fanatic since.

  • Best solo in rock and roll

  • Maestro

  • @iLoveEpicBends thats a good one too.. how about the whole solo?! ahhhhhh!

  • 0:11 that is my favorite note ever, i love him, i LOVE him, I LOVE HIM!!!

  • this solo is fucking awsome, i am playing it all day !!!! :-)

  • I remember the first time I heard a PF song, and it was "Time" I was about 14 and it was probably my 5th time smoking green and I was just ripped, me and a friend were playing some racing game on xbox360 going 200mph when this solo came on, and it was then when I forever became a huge PF fan, own all their albums on vinyl and the majority of the music I listen to (I say about 80% of what I listen to daily) is by them. I recently purchased a guitar because of this man. Thanks David.

  • Tell me you don't play this video almost every day?!

  • <3

  • man I love this solo.

  • that harmonic at the start made me jizz....

  • amazing, and just pentatonics, jesus..

  • @Dashooter911 - I know, I know ........ I'm a mixture, per se, of Trey and David, and I can't play to either of their par. Trey ..... sometimes, he does too many notes, which I can be blamed on as well. To do that with just pentatonics, well ..... I just don't understand it. That's why there's only one David Gilmour.

  • @Dashooter911 LOL I know exactly what you mean.

  • he drinked a bottle of guiness, the planets aligned and he dreamed with time '-'

  • SO DIRTY!

  • He's older than my dad and can play guitar better than I'll ever be able to lol.

It's so sad that music like this has been replaced with the ever so repetitive "you hurt me, i hurt you, i loved you blah fucking blah" pop songs D: And the like..

  • this solo cannot exist in the real world... its an impossibility...this does not even begin to describe it...

  • david make this guitar talks

  • David Gilmour es el mejor guitarrista de todos por que el toca con demasiado sentimiento... Es imposible igualar su estilo de guitarra!

  • the section he plays appx. 00:13 - 00:14 , before he lands on the F# on the D string, is different from the original version :)

can someone pls help me understand how to play this version of it, my ears aren't that trained, so I can't seem to figure it out :/ anyone?

  • @DinkoBah It's not that hard, use your ears and play each note until it sounds similar. Trust me on this... When you start getting into the habit of learning things from ear, your guitar playing will expand tenfold.

  • this solo along with comfortably numb, in my opinion, are the best solo's i've ever heard, of course not counting marooned which was just one big ass kick ass solo lol.... i like to feel the music and his guitar really cries out every note

  • fuck is good

  • best solo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I would turn gay for this man

  • MADE ME CRY!

  • I could listen to him play all day long

  • can someone tell me plz if this is a song?

  • @xXRoMpEcAmInOsXx yes its called time

  • @xXRoMpEcAmInOsXx Pink Floyd Time. You my friend have just chipped the Pink Floyd iceberg. Go listen to as much as you can. Start with Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. Then Listen to the Animals album. :)

  • @arjaya Actually, Ive heard at least 4 pink floyd albums: Piper at the gates, umma gumma, atom heart mother, meddle.... but yes I have a lot to discover about pink floyd.

All i can say is , gilmour is a fucking god.

    Thx for the suggestion

  • I wish I was David Gilmour.

  • He is a tone master - slow and melodic - everyone remembers Dave's solos - the melody within the song - all you shredders out there should slow down some time and give yourselves room to express your music.

  • this DVD is awesome man...

  • The best! *-*

  • His sound is so...........crispy, full, and most of all, mesmerising...

  • Amazing tone...

  • probably my all-time favorite guitar solo....so simplistic yet so deep. i could listen 100 times in a row and still get goosebumps. grabs my soul unlike any other guitar lick.

  • Fucking genious always with dramatic solo.

  • Now thats fucking mind blowing david gilmour is a god

  • Dave Mustaine said it best: "David Gilmour can do more with one note than most guitarists can do with the whole fret board"

  • Gilmour, is the most brilliant guitarist from day one!

  • HE IS A TRUE ORIGINAL HE ONLY PLAYS HIMSELF MAN I WISH MY FRIENDS WOULD REALIZE THE BEST GUITARISTS ONLY PLAY THEMSELVES

  • @Hellblazer344 YOUR FUCKING STUPID. ITS PRACTICE , COVERS, PRACTICE, IMPROVISATION , AND PRACTICE THEN LEADS TO SELF EXPRESSION WHICH LEADS TO PLAYING YOURSELF. YOU DON'T JUST PICK UP THE GUITAR AND YOUR FINGERS CAN CREATE MELODIES. YOUR FUCKING RETARDED I HOPE YOUR MOM SAVED THE RECEIPT

  • @FadedSTEELERSfan dude chill out...this is a comment box not a fucking war zone

  • @Hellblazer344 dude i wish my friends would realize that how the fuck can u play your self? come on man , im pretty sure david gilmour has some huge influences , i would most definately say b.b. king and jimi

  • @beastmain Pete Seeger and Lead Belly are a couple.

  • @FadedSTEELERSfan "Hope your mom save the receipt" LOL

  • Why only 29 seconds?? Is there no film anywhere of Gilmour playing this song from start to finish??? It`s nice to see so many people able to duplicate this solo but none compare to the original...

  • Odd. The older Dave sounds like he's playing this solo in a lower key. For whatever reason, it just does not sound as good as when it cut to the earier version in the higher key.

  • @Xcorgi haha....ya sure dude whatever.

  • OLD MAN WITH ELECTRIC GUITAR! NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zeogud old man? really?... gtfo noob..

  • very good

  • nice tone!!!

  • greatest solo of all time

  • I can some what play this solo bit not even close to him wish I was that good

  • The number one solo of all time, imo. Every note is drenched with emotion.

  • Sound sharp as fuckin' razor blade. amazing!

  • come on guys... how can anyone say that his solos are not so full with emotions???

    he is brilliant...!!!

David Gilmour is my personal music God...

  • 0:04 - ahh. gotta cig?

  • David Gilmour is the shit. He makes good solos

  • Dave is the greatest musician of the world!

  • 0.05 when DG's face goes 'hell yeah' you know it's good.

  • Dave Gilmour is an amazing musician total passion with each note and you can feel it :D

  • Dave Mustaine once said "David Gilmour can do so much with one note than what most guitarists can do with the whole fretboard."

That is totally true and the solo to Time proves it.

  • @lukatme2 hows about you suck your on ass!

  • @3nz0f3r

    Is that english?

  • @lukatme2 He may suck ass but you suck dick.

  • @lukatme2 get fucked

  • @lukatme2 I think you mean "kicks."

  • @lukatme2 Go listen to your shred shit and let people who listen to real music alone.

  • @ShortFingeredShreder I dont like shred music. I just dont like david Gilmour either.

  • @lukatme2 troll

  • The planets must have been in allignment when David wrote this.

  • @ehowie First take is always the best

  • 30 seconds of pure AWE

  • David is a god on the guitar!

  • I can play this just like gilmore ...whats the big deal ?...it's not that mindblowing to use lots of echo and bend strings.

  • @HackerGuitarist yeah. just like everybody can copy the dictionary. go back to your death metal or whatever fast annoying crap you listen to.

  • @HackerGuitarist Mate, you might be able to "play" it, but I guarantee you cannot play it like Gilmour. Post a video of you playing it. You clearly don't know the first thing about musicality.

  • @HackerGuitarist yea sure go take your meds.

  • @HackerGuitarist Using echo and bending strings is one thing, but being david gilmour is unachievable. The man is a wizard.

  • @skateparkslayer Proper wizard. Like, dude runs hogwarts when it comes to guitar.

  • david has feel

  • OMG=Oh My Gilmour

  • distortion = aWESOME

  • the pimper.....

  • My favorite solo!

  • yes

  • Isnt he using a fuzzface here like in the old days??

  • 0:12 - 0:16 Felt better than an orgasm....

  • @Niloy135790 No. Because that IS an orgasm.

  • Gilmour's ripsnorting guitar solo is the real highlight of this track instead Water's pretentious and declamatory lyrics.

  • @roguenation cmon man, don't go hating on roger just because of his ego problem in the band. these are terrific lyrics. yes roger is an asshole but their actual music and lyrics has nothing to do with that. even from the lyrics you can tell that even roger deep down is a good person.

  • @kermicheo I really used to marvel at the lyrics to tracks like "Time" as a self-consciously 'profound' adolescent boy, however, nowadays they strike me as just so much cheesy, bombastic dreck.

  • best strat tone ever in my humble opinion. this is my favorite solo of all time. Nothing fancy just playing the right notes.

  • I love how in the video they make the transition from old dave to the younger dave in the 0:14 sec mark to prove he's playing hasnt changed.

  • the bend at 0:18 makes me cringe with pleasure

  • I'm surprised the guitar hasn't turned white from the amount of orgasms that would've occurred when this solo was played.

  • @brutelements i am surprised that the guitar has survived at all. If I was the guitar I would like to just die after being played by Gilmour because frankly there is not anything higher to play on a guitar

  • @Estorial34 haha very true

  • me pregunto si aun usara el Fuzz Face¡¡ ??

    Yo tengo el Big Muff

y suena como los dioses del olimpo ¡¡ pero para dark side siempre es mejor el Fuzz Face¡¡

  • What pinch harmonic does he play at 0:04?

  • @Lockjaw95

    g4^5

  • @ajarroyave How do you play g4^5 pinch harmonic? I can't find any info on it.

  • @Lockjaw95 what pinch harmonix? There is only one kind of pinch harmonic

  • @thedreamportal No you can make various pinch harmonics on a single string by playing at different lengths of that string near the pickups. I believe there are 3 nodes on each string which make the "squeal" sound. Combine this with playing at a certain fret on your standard 20 fret guitar, you can generate (in theory) 3x20x6= 360 different pinch harmonics.

My ears are quite tone deaf :P, and I can't seem to pinpoint the exact pinch harmonic that David Gilmour played at 0:04? Do you know please?

  • @Lockjaw95 yeah yeah. But it is done using the same technique

  • @thedreamportal You are not answering my question. I know how to play a pinch harmonic. I know the picking technique required to make the pinch harmonic "squeal" sound. But which pinch harmonic "note" does David Gilmour play at 0:04?

  • @Lockjaw95 somewhere above your middle pickup (if you have a strat).

  • At 0:04. I got orgasm!!

  • @AchtungDutch88mm I at 0:15 got orgasm.

  • @AchtungDutch88mm LOOOOOOL !!!!

  • @AchtungDutch88mm RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!

  • david gilmour has just killed 19 people with his awesome guitar playing skills

  • that guy can make a guitar cry or sing gilmour, knopfler all great guitarists

  • @slappmestickman So true :3

  • GUYS WHAT'S NAME OF THIS DOCUMENT PLEASE! sorry for caps

  • david gmour es el mejor

  • Gilmour, the only guitar player who gives you shiver just by playin' a single note.

Gilmour, le seul guitariste qui te donne la chaire de poule en jouant une seule note.

Gilmour, el unico guitarrista que te da la piel de galina tocando una sola nota.
