Music of the Spheres is now my favorite Mike Olfield album. Before that, it was Songs of Distant Earth, but with this he has really outdone himself.

many people seem to forget that popular music in the past was not that different at all, when its about orchesters. the old guys disliked it, the open minded just enjoyed it, some fanatics put it above everything else, and sometime later it has suddenly become a "classic" while it was a revolution in its own time. and most tunes get forgotten. thats how it rolls. I still like phillip glass. some may not enjoy it, but that is the freedom you have. you can dislike it and listen to something else.

It's true Mike Oldfield has in recent years delivered no such good works as in the seventies. I do not think that many people compare this album Tubular Bells. I find this album better than Tubular Bells. It touches the soul, it has beautiful melodies, bombastic combined with gentle tones. This album deserves much more emphasis in the music world. One must hear the still, which is good, this has nothing to do with taste.

I think people are a bit hard on him for starting this album just like

Tubular Bells. It marks it clearly as a Mike Oldfield album, like a signature, I guess.

To be honest, at first, it took me some listening to to really love Harbinger (the first piece being played). It's sort of an acquired musical taste if you will. Try to get used to it all! I would put Oldfield right up there with the big guys like Mozart and Bach. I think he is, sortof, what they would be today in the 21st centuary.

This piece confirms my theory that Mike Oldfield has been tapped by the same musical genius as Wolfgang A. Mozart! He hears the entire piece 'floating around in the head", but can't translate it into notes fast enough. I love it all!

La grandeza de Mike Oldfield reside en que se reinventa a sí mismo constantemente. Es como el ave Fenix que renace continuamente de sus cenizas. Es un "artesano" de la música.

Sus trabajos "orquestales" son sin duda alguna los mejores. Empezando por Tubular Bells, siguiendo por The Killing Fields, Amarok y acabando en Music of the Spheres.

Mike Oldfield :) I like his music too even though I'm Jean-Michel Jarre fan, but I have other favourite artists I like to listen to like Vangelis, Yanni, Enigma, Mike Oldfield etc... :) At the moment I have only Mike Oldfield's album Islands on my computer, but shall get more of his albums soon :)

De escucharlo a verlo....aunque sea por aquí, es alucinante. No podía ponerle instrumentos al CD mientras lo escuchaba contigo viajando en coche hacia algún lugar. Ni cuando lo ponían en RNE3 mientras iba camino de clase...
