Thanks for your reply and explanations. I live in Bournemouth. Have a good time in Thailand but don't forget (whewn you can) to post the odd video (Ne me quite pas, ou Le plat pais...), ciao.
I am surprised (and pleased) that you find the time to reply to your 'fans' and play the harmonica. Are you a professional musician or this is just a hobby? In which part of France do you live? Your English is very good, have you lived there? Sooo many questions, sorry. Thanks for the musics, ciao
@MrEliott0 Hello harmonica is my hobby, at the moment i'm taking classes with a teacher of whom I have uploaded videos recently. I lived in England yes, I'm in the south of France but will go back to Thailand in a few months. bye
I like this presentation with your harmonica, just as much as with the words of old Charles, your tone tinged with melancholie gives me "goos pimples" (you know, like when you are cold and your skin gets little bumps, oui?). Tu est formidable.
@MrEliott0 Hello, I know in french it's called "Chair de Poule" which means "Hen's flesh" but also "Chicken's skin". But I didn't know the sound of harmonica could do that to someone, I have to admit it doesn't do it to me, even as I listen again to this video, perhaps I'm immune to it by now? :-)

Really enjoyed the sound, but think the towel dimishes you're credibilty, for people are always thinking, "What does he have on his head and why?" To get more attention, more clicks? Hey, we live in the free world, put a box of bananas up there, see what happens. Nice playing.
Bracimmo!!
Of course, most of the great harmonicists taught themselves - without bothering to learn how to read notes. Larry Adler didn't learn how to read music till he was in his thirties, I believe, and by that time he was already a big star. Why was it so important for you read notes? With your talent, you could've taught yourself w/o sheet music.
I've no talent for improvisation or learning "by ear", and also I don't put enough training / work. So learning notes was simply to be able to play easily musics I like, without bothering with working on learning scales and other music theory. Now I can play like a parrot, but there's no emotion in the music and also I cannot go out of what is written and improvise, like others do. I know it would only be a matter of months of self learning with a book on improvisation, but I'm not doing it now
It sounds like great software! I'll have to check it out. I'm a little short on cash right now - there's nothing like that that's free, is there? And another question: Do u ever open and clean/repair your harmonicas? The Harp On! site talks about that.
I should open and clean, but if they become unplayable I throw them away, I know I don't care about the environment/planet/money.. that's bad and I'm bad, ok let's move on :-)
As for the software, you can find it on P2P networks but if you want to follow the legality then yes you have to buy it. And there probably are alternative free solutions, but I'm not aware of them, perhaps by searching for them on music forums archives, the question has surely been asked before.
Great to hear back from u. I, too, have tried to play my pianica on occasion (which is like a melodica). Accordions are kinda' heavy, but they're great because u can accompany yourself on them (and I love to sing). Question: If u don't play any other instruments seriously, how do u know how to read notes so well? From the harmonica book and CD you've mentioned? BTW, I've taught myself to play Besame like u just by watching your video, but not as smoothly and clearly - tnx for the free lesson!
I don't know how to read notes so well. I used to transcribe music sheet into my own harmonica tabs and for several years I've done that and I was doing it faster and faster but still couldn't play by reading notes directly. Then what really pushed me into forcing myself to read without tabs is the fact I used the software BAND IN A BOX with many good background musics and the music sheet is on the screen, I couldn't write tabs above them, so I forced myself a little and 2 years after it's ok.
Yes, definitely one of your best efforts. Beautiful playing, and fun to watch! Two questions: Do u play other instruments? Who are your favorite harmonicists? Someone really trashed Toots Thielemans on YouTube, and I think he's great; who do u think?
Hello, at one point I was practicing melodica because it has the same harmonica sound, and also just began the accordion, again because of the sound of wind passing though reeds, I like the vibration. But I'm not serious enough in any of the instrument! I don't know about favorite harmonicists, I of course like any chromatic player such as Toots, but I now enjoy youtube users who upload their videos of chromatic harmonica, because we can communicate directly though commenting.
Your videos are very pleasing to watch and listen to !
One technical question : how do you make this quick rolling effect at the start of some notes ? Is it a rolling effect created with the tip of the tongue ?
Hello, yes I have to prepare the page but I want to sell a DVD with all my videos on it. Is a DVD with data files inside ok, or you want an audio cd ?
Hi, the problem is that for an audio cd you'd have to choose several songs, I have to buy and burn a cd and send it to you, it's very personal. Do you know you can do it all by yourself? Hi Alliax - this is one of my favourite recordings of yours, and I think its party because you are not reading, which gives you freedom to play with more heart. Im fed up with the usual blues harmonica playing -

I've enjoyed all your videos, allax, and this is the most curious one. Really enjoyed the hand and towel choreography as well.
