@whole27. I have driven about 12kyou miles. Now that it has cooled off I am regularly getting 55mpg. Taxi drivers who drive as you ASSume, do not last. I have been driving for 13the years. Also I use eco mode most the time now. Driving a Prius very fun, but it takes practice to be an efficient hypermiler. Accel, glide, & slide.
I just bought a 2011 Prius. It now will go 25mph on electric mode. after 1,000 miles I have found i get better full economy not using ECO Mode. I drive it as a taxi so the top light reduces aerodynamics and I get easily 45-50 mpg in normal mode and I get 40-45 mpg in ECO mode. I love the car. spent $10 on fuel today verses $30 in a big Caprice, you CAN KEEP IT "mr92buickroadmaster"
@wtfgta4 i don't like the different modes..they need to just make the optimum MPG mode..that is why we buy a prius, not to use power mode! Why are you only getting40-50mpg? You must be driving like a typical taxi driver...lol...but then i guess u can't drive slowly when people want to get there fast
Seriously, the ignorance of some of you people astounds me. I don't even own a Prius or a Toyota, but i can appreciate the technology that goes into these vehicles. You're just pissed because the union-run Detroit dinosaurs keep getting beaten to the punch. And "mr92buickroadmaster"? Seriously? Yeah, that's just what the world needs–60's technology and 15 mpg. You probably ride a Harley, too. Learn to spell, jackass.
@Frogh4 He can't afford the $60,000 Tesla Model S.
And if he can't afford a Tesla Model S, then he sure as hell wouldn't be able to afford a HEV/PHEV car like the Prius when it has a battery inside of it that is more powerful than what's inside the $40,000 Nissan Leaf.
i have a 1992 buick roadmaster family car and i use more gas taking off from the stoplight than u prius lovers use in a month. at lease i have a big confey car unlike the prius. i have test drove one of these and if i could i would destroy all of them. they are worthless peices of crap. if u want somthing nice that WILL LAST than get somthing like the buick roadmaster or chevy caprice or somthing decint. not a crappy hybrid that will only be usable for about the next 10 years.....
So NOT driving with a lead foot actually gets you better gas mileage.....DUH.....much to the annoyance of the people behind you, as you're crawling along in the fast lane....lol
By the way if you would do some calculations you would know that payback time for Prius hybrid is 14.5 years compared to non hybrid Prius (with $3.50 gas price)...10y. with $5.00 (car will ned to be junked after 10 due to battery life)
That was just calculating extra price you pay vs gas savings...adding cost of ownership and battery life = same as owning H2
Currently all hybrids are waist of money...when you buy them new.
Are you kidding? I love the car DESPITE this series of videos. I don't know how Terersa Bravo got this job (could she be MORE bland in her delivery or less familiar about the cars?), and I'm not sure what interns they got to shoot and edit this things.

@whole27 sometimes you need powermode: 4 passengers going up a mountain pass

You want real engagement with your vehicle, get a stick shift. Better gas mileage too.

@Mr92buickroadmaster 10 years of the Prius's estimated gas savings is around 20,000 dollars, which is close to the cost.

how much it cost to replace the battery, and how often I have to remove the battery? This is what I am concern.
theartofluv 1 year ago
@theartofluv You won't have to, ever. They recharge themselves.

Its not a payback story, its to produce less CO2.
